Chapter 765: Chapter 765: One Rope_1

The assassin was only serving the mastermind behind the scenes, and the mastermind, an elder from the Howard Family, was too old to withstand the punishnt dealt by Alexander Sumrs. The elder passed away after enduring just a few blows, which is why Alexander vented his remaining anger on the assassin.

Purple was unwilling to murder, but if the other party was to suffer inhumane tornt at the hands of Alexander, she would rather take their life herself.

This was not about being a saint or about kindness; it was a principle of conduct, a way of thinking ford by long-ti teachings and the environnt in which she was raised.

It was sothing etched into her bones, unchangeable.

In dealing with the world, between her and Alexander, there was a huge chasm.

She had been aware of this chasm in the past but chose to ignore it subconsciously, or perhaps she was blinded by love, always naively thinking that if there were difficulties, they would overco them as long as they worked together with concerted effort.

...

But now… She began to doubt more and more whether she and Alexander could truly work together with concerted effort.

For her sake, could Alexander refrain from murder? — Being in his position, it was almost impossible.

And what about her? For Alexander’s sake, could she tolerate murder, framing, and torture that violated the law and public morals? — If so, wasn’t her pursuit of fairness and justice a joke?

She had lost her confidence.

After silently finishing her al, Purple returned to her room to rest, while Alexander stayed by her side the entire ti, as if worried she might overthink things and not giving her a chance to be alone.

He held her in his arms. Where she once felt warmth and security, now she only felt suffocated.

Purple stayed motionless in his embrace, her thick eyelashes lowered, hiding the emotions in her eyes.

“I want to be alone for a while,” she said, her voice low, “you should go back to sleep in your room.”

“Why do you want to be alone for a while?” Alexander said, “If you want quiet, I won’t talk and annoy you. If you’re upset, you can bla or complain about , but if you want to be alone, Purple, that’s impossible. Do you think, after all this, I’ll let go?!”

Purple felt a lump in her throat and was on the verge of tears again.

It was as if Alexander had tied a rope to her, and whenever he sensed her heart drifting away, he would tighten that rope, draw it in closer, binding her tightly by his side, never allowing her to escape.

Even if Purple just wanted to temporarily retreat into her shell and hide, he wouldn’t allow it.

In the end, she fell asleep in his arms.

She didn’t sleep well that night, waking up many tis. Without opening her eyes, she could feel the man’s solid chest next to her and his steady, powerful heartbeat.

The next morning when Purple awoke, her first sight was of Alexander’s deep, black eyes, bloodshot as if he hadn’t slept all night.

Purple didn’t dare to look for long; she got out of bed to change clothes and wash up.

Alexander watched her quietly from the bed, and when Purple was about to go to the bathroom, he said, “Today I’ll take you to school.”

Purple’s footsteps faltered, pausing at the door. She was silent for a mont, then said, “Okay.”

Alexander drove Purple to the school entrance. Before getting out of the car, he reached over to kiss her.

Purple instinctively avoided the kiss, turning slightly away, and the kiss landed on the corner of her lips.

…A bitterness spread separately in each of their hearts.

Purple clutched the strap of her bag, trying to act as if nothing had happened, yet she couldn’t look Alexander in the eye.

She didn’t want it to be like this.

But her mind was in turmoil; she needed ti to sort it out, but he wouldn’t give her ti, likely worried that with ti she would settle her thoughts and separate him from her world.

“I’m going in,” Purple said softly.

Alexander touched her head, “Okay, go in.”

She walked into the school with her bag on her back, blending in quickly with the other students in their uniforms.

Alexander looked on for a while, then dialed Zack Wallace, “Arrange for so people to keep a close watch on the school.”
