Chapter 724: Chapter 724: Another Banquet_1
Their family seed quite close, but Alexander Sumrs, Purple Sumrs, and themselves just didn’t fit in and couldn’t share in that joy.
Purple continued walking, holding the rose, thinking that it would be better to return to the island for the Lunar New Year, as staying in the Sumrs Family ho was just too dull.
As she passed the living room, Dylan Sumrs stood at the door and greeted her with a friendly smile, “Purple, co here quickly.”
Purple hesitated for a mont, but eventually walked over.
Upon entering the living room, she saw Nathaniel Sumrs sitting on the sofa, dressed in black clothes that made his skin appear unusually pale. Even though the sunlight from outside fell on him, he still seed cool and shadowy.
Nathaniel lifted his gaze and looked at Purple with a calm and indifferent expression, as if he didn’t recognize her at all.
At that mont, soone stood up hurriedly and greeted Purple, “Little Aunt.”
It was Laura.
Having not seen her for a year, Laura had changed a lot: she’d grown taller and beco more beautiful. Her petulance had diminished, and so had her liveliness, making her seem gentle and dignified, with a touch of nervousness in her deanor.
She was still wary of Purple.
Purple gave a slight smile, “Laura is back, when will you go to school again?”
“Not for the ti being,” Laura glanced at Nathaniel subconsciously and replied, “Uncle said that I could start sharing so of the family’s burdens, so he asked to co back and start working as an assistant at the company.”
“Is that so, that’s quite good,” Purple made a casual small talk.
Suddenly, Nathaniel spoke up, “The flowers are nice but too garish, not suitable for you.”
Purple smiled faintly, “I like bold and bright now, it looks cheerful to .”
Dylan, unaware of the underlying tension between the two, interjected, “With the New Year just around the corner, we should have so festive flowers in the house. Purple has been admitted to the Judicial Training Institute, and Nathaniel and Laura have returned. This is indeed a double blessing. I was thinking next month we should throw a party! A proper celebration!”
Purple couldn’t help but laugh.
The return of Nathaniel and Laura was indeed good news for the Sumrs Family, but not sothing to host a banquet for. Dylan was using her exam success as a pretext to find a reason for a party.
At the end of December, with both Christmas and Lunar New Year’s Eve, the wealthy jostled to hold parties, with the Sumrs Family in an awkward position.
That period was the Old Master Sumrs’s death anniversary. Because of this, Dylan had missed out on many networking opportunities. Now, he finally had his chance.
Purple wasn’t opposed to this.
Hosting a banquet to celebrate admission to a good school was a tradition. Just that day, so classmates had asked her when she would be having her celebration, while others speculated privately whether the Sumrs Family would throw a party for an adopted daughter.
Purple asked Dylan with a smile when would be a good ti.
Dylan said the banquet would be held at the beginning of the month, and the death anniversary was at the end, so there would be no conflict.
“Make sure to invite lots of classmates and friends. The more people, the rrier,” Dylan said with a beaming smile. He knew that Purple had made many connections and no longer dared to underestimate her, speaking with an undertone of kindness and flattery.
“Alright, big brother,” Purple replied, “once you’ve set the date, let know and I’ll send out the invitations.”
Just then, Yolanda Sumrs slowly descended from the staircase. She carried a purse and wore a wide chestnut-colored cal hair coat, exuding the aura of a well-off lady as if she were about to leave the house.
She was always skilled at presenting herself, but recently her complexion had worsened, making her look worn out.
Dylan stopped her to talk about the family banquet planned for December.
Yolanda paused then said, “I haven’t been feeling well lately, I might not be able to attend…”
Dylan imdiately beca annoyed, “If you’re not well, go to the hospital and get treated! What do you look like, sick all the ti?!”
Yolanda froze in the doorway, listening to a few rebukes from Dylan, then quickly walked away with an ugly expression on her face.
Dylan grew even angrier, “The older she gets, the less sense she makes!”
