Chapter 698: Chapter 698 Replacent_1

Seeing Marcel Jefferson being hit, Lindsay Carpenter stood still as reason slowly began to return to her.

Purple Sumrs and another legal intern helped Jefferson up.

The bailiff took control of the situation, and one of them ca over to ask if they needed to go to the hospital.

Jefferson gingerly touched his split lip, shaking his head. With only an hour left before the court session, they had to quickly co up with a strategy. A trip to the hospital would waste precious ti they did not have.

Purple handed him a tissue, and as Jefferson spread his hand to look, he saw it was covered in bright red blood.

The bailiffs, aning well, led them to a rest room to avoid any more impulsive confrontations with Leon Brown’s n before the hearing began.

Brown’s bodyguards were robust; Jefferson was frail. A single punch had left him seeing stars for a long ti.

His nose and mouth were bleeding to varying degrees, but the bleeding stopped after he rinsed with cold water, leaving his face swollen and bruised.

Lindsay felt terribly sorry for him and regretfully said, “I won’t fight it, Mr. Jefferson, I won’t fight the case anymore! I’ll spill all of his dirty secrets if he leaves no way out, barefoot is not afraid of wearing shoes!”

“Aren’t you in a hurry to get money for surgery?” Jefferson said, “Don’t worry, I will do my best to help you get compensation.”

Jefferson’s mind was racing. The rapist charge was clearly not going to stand; therefore, they might have to take a step back and try for unintentional injury, as they had the injury report in hand. That kind of injury could not possibly be dismissed with a re monetary transaction.

It just ant that the compensation they could obtain would be less…

Jefferson felt unsure, and subconsciously looked up for Purple Sumrs, wanting to hear her opinion.

Purple stood by the window, on the phone with Alexander Sumrs.

For today’s court hearing, Alexander had not co but instead had reserved a spot at an upscale restaurant in Kingsley City, waiting to celebrate with them.

Alexander disliked visiting places like courts and police stations, finding them unlucky.

“Can you still contact that hacker from last ti?” Purple asked him, “The chubby one…”

Alexander was astute and imdiately surmised that Purple was in trouble. He asked, “What do you need to find out?”

“A hostess from Venus Nightclub in Kingsley City, nad Charlotte Bishop, was supposed to be our witness, but she turned against us last minute,” Purple said, “She claid she was with Lindsay on Fortuna Road on July 30th, but she was definitely sowhere else. I need her alibi.”

After a brief pause, Purple added, “And the court session starts in forty-five minutes.”

Their ti was running short.

Alexander hung up without a word, going to contact the hacker for her.

Purple ended the call, pulled out a few pages from the injury report, and handed them to Jefferson’s legal intern, instructing him to print several copies.

“The clearer, the better. Emphasize the dical expenses here, make it stand out so the jury can see it clearly at a glance.”

The lawyers at Prominence Law Firm respected Purple; upon hearing her instructions they imdiately took the materials and hurried off to print them.

Jefferson, looking at the scant evidence remaining and thinking about the witnesses who had turned against them, sighed in frustration, “I was careless.”

He felt he had let Lindsay down—a case that was nearly a sure win had been pushed into a corner by the opposition. It was humiliating.

Purple looked down at the forms just sent over by the opposing lawyer and heard Jefferson’s vexed voice. She comforted him, “It’s not your carelessness. We are new to this, while they have the advantage of ti, location, and people.”

She put down the materials in her hand and said to Jefferson, “After the court session this afternoon, ask the judge to allow you to speak on behalf of the representation, and I’ll do the defense.”

Jefferson blinked in surprise and then replied, “…Okay.”
