Chapter 694: Chapter 694: Difficult to Provide Proof_1

“Mr. Jefferson said dressing like this would be better…” Lindsay Carpenter touched her face, also feeling quite uncomfortable.

“Dressing conservatively is to avoid giving the judge and the jury a frivolous impression,” Purple Sumrs said after examining Lindsay’s face carefully, “But being completely plain is a bit too much; you should still wear so makeup.”

Too much is as bad as too little. Although clearly a sex worker, if one deliberately dressed up to look pure and innocent, it would instead be off-putting.

After Purple Sumrs finished instructing, Lindsay Carpenter and Charlotte Bishop went to the restroom to touch up their makeup.

People were coming into the court hearing room one after another. For so reason, Purple Sumrs suddenly felt an odd sensation as if soone was watching her from behind.

She turned around to look but only saw so unfamiliar faces.

Was it an illusion?

The hearing started soon after, and Purple Sumrs focused her attention back on the case. She and another legal intern sat next to Marcel Jefferson, acting as his paralegal.

Leon Brown’s defense attorney was a middle-aged Mr. Johnson with glasses, looking very astute.

Since Marcel Jefferson was the prosecutor, he took the floor first.

“On the afternoon of July 30th at three o’clock, the defendant Leon Brown and two friends gathered in a villa on Fortuna Road and ordered special services from the nightclub. The nightclub’s foreman inford my client, Ms. Lindsay Carpenter, to go to the villa, but she refused. The foreman deceived Ms. Carpenter by claiming that the client was only a friend of Leon Brown, not Leon Brown himself. Upon her arrival at the villa, however, Ms. Carpenter was forcibly detained by Leon Brown who committed sexual assault and abuse!”

Marcel Jefferson briefly clarified the case and stated the claim: “We request the court to arrest the defendant Leon Brown on the charge of rape and claim a total of 525 thousand in dical expenses and ntal anguish damages.”

The opposing lawyer replied, “We reject these accusations. My client, Mr. Leon Brown, rely accepted the services of Ms. Lindsay Carpenter. It was a transaction with free will on both sides, and the accusations are baseless, amounting to nothing but malicious extortion.”

The female judge glanced at the defense lawyer, her face expressionless, and said, “Please watch your language, defense attorney. Before a verdict is reached, making claims of extortion could constitute slander, could it not?”

Mr. Johnson’s face stiffened, a hint of resentnt in his eyes as he replied with irritation, “Yes, Your Honor, I will be careful.”

It seed that although the judge didn’t have a good impression of Lindsay Carpenter, she had an even worse impression of a wealthy young master who led a life of luxury.

Marcel Jefferson requested to summon the first witness, Charlotte Bishop.

Charlotte Bishop worked with Lindsay Carpenter as a waitress at the nightclub.

On the day of the incident, Lindsay Carpenter was brutally sexually abused, sustaining very serious injuries. After having his way, Leon Brown left without a care, and Lindsay Carpenter called Charlotte Bishop for help.

Upon seeing Lindsay’s appalling condition, Charlotte Bishop cursed Leon Brown as a beast, and took Lindsay to the hospital, called the police, and gave a statent.

However, Leon Brown denied the charges on the grounds that he had paid for the services. The two wealthy young masters who were also there at the villa claid that Lindsay Carpenter had voluntarily engaged in the sale, which ultimately led to the failure to open a case.

“Ms. Charlotte Bishop, on the day of the event, when you saw Ms. Lindsay Carpenter, she was covered in bruises and injuries, unable even to stand up on her own. You took her to the hospital and helped her call the police. Is that correct?” Marcel Jefferson asked.

Charlotte Bishop nodded, “Yes, that’s correct.”

“Do you rember what Ms. Lindsay Carpenter said at the ti?” continued Marcel Jefferson, “Did she tell you that she had been raped by Leon Brown?”

Charlotte Bishop looked towards Lindsay Carpenter sitting in the court and her expression showed hesitation.

Against the wealthy, they were fundantally at a disadvantage, making it especially difficult to prove their case. Now they had only one witness left, Charlotte Bishop.

But…

Charlotte Bishop withdrew her gaze and slightly bowed her head.

“No,” she said, “Lindsay told that this deal was too bad. The money Leon Brown gave didn’t even cover the dical expenses, and she insisted that Leon Brown had to bleed a second ti.”

As her words fell, the courtroom erupted into commotion.
