“Looking for ?” Purple Sumrs was puzzled and looked at Alexander Sumrs, then towards Gavin Graves.
“Young Master Graves, what can I do for you?” Purple Sumrs asked.
Gavin Graves said, “A few days ago, a friend of mine was involved in a divorce case, and the lawyer defending his wife happened to be from Prominence Law Firm, so he ca to , wanting to ask Ms. Sumrs what exactly her intentions are.”
Upon hearing this, Purple Sumrs imdiately understood.
The friend Gavin Graves was referring to was Justice Norman Douglas.
Norman Douglas still had feelings for his wife. He didn’t want a divorce, and even if it ca to one, he was unwilling to give up the child custody rights. Norman Douglas originally had an eighty to ninety percent chance of winning the case but hadn’t expected that his wife would hire Prominence Law Firm.
Ever since Purple Sumrs had handled a few cases for Marcel Jefferson, Prominence Law Firm gradually gained a reputation. They might not be the first choice for major cases, but for tricky and problematic cases, Prominence was the go-to firm.
And for this reason, Norman Douglas beca apprehensive.
Second Young Master Graves’s case was also managed by Prominence Law Firm, which led Norman Douglas to approach Gavin Graves, hoping he would intervene and diate.
Norman Douglas, being a Justice, was least willing to go to court among all, and if the matter could be resolved through a diator, naturally, it couldn’t be better.
Purple Sumrs, understanding Gavin Graves’s intention, said with a smile, “If possible, we also would prefer not to go to court. Ms. Montgory has always been inclined towards out-of-court settlent.”
Since Riley Montgory was preparing for divorce, Purple Sumrs also refrained from addressing her as Mrs. Douglas.
Gavin Graves sighed with a helpless smile and said, “If it was so easy to diate, I wouldn’t need to make the trip here today. Ms. Sumrs, by bringing the Won’s Rights Protection Federation into this, you’ve really trapped my friend.”
“I’m not trapping him; I’m helping him.” Purple Sumrs suddenly sobered up and spoke earnestly, “Judge Douglas can’t possibly keep soone confined forever.”
“He wants to cure his wife’s illness…” Gavin Graves explained.
“But Ms. Montgory isn’t sick,” Purple Sumrs frowned.
Realizing her tone had been too harsh, she softened her expression and said to Gavin Graves, “Sorry, Young Master Graves, I was rude just now…”
“Why apologize to him? He ca over early in the morning, any scolding he gets is his own doing,” Alexander Sumrs interjected disdainfully, his voice carrying a sour note.
Purple Sumrs glared at him, “Don’t make a ss, I’m talking business with Young Master Graves.”
Alexander laughed, “Alright, you talk, I’ll listen.”
He looked towards Gavin Graves, slightly raising his eyebrows, with a slightly provocative gaze. It seed that he not only found no sha in Purple’s rebuke but rather took pride in it.
Gavin Graves smiled wryly.
On this end, Purple Sumrs spoke very seriously and earnestly, “The divorce agreent was settled upon after discussion between the lawyer and Ms. Montgory; it is already our bottom line. Except for the division of assets, which can still be negotiated, we will absolutely not budge on the other terms, especially the child custody—the child must live with the mother. Please convey my standpoint to Judge Douglas, Young Master Graves, and ask him to understand that the current environnt of the Douglas Family is truly not suitable for Ms. Montgory and the child to live in. Divorce is inevitable.”
Gavin Graves asked, “Ms. Sumrs, forgive my frankness, but if you believe that soone in the Douglas family poses a threat to Mrs. Douglas’s child, why not tell Mr. Douglas directly? The crux of the disagreent between you two is simply the child’s whereabouts. You keep emphasizing the danger in the Douglas household without specifying the source of the danger, which inevitably makes Mr. Douglas anxious and irate.”
Upon hearing this, Purple Sumrs fell silent.
She always made sure to have full certainty before stating her case to anyone.
Without evidence, relying purely on conjecture and association, even if she did tell Norman Douglas, it would not only fail to gain his understanding but would also provoke his anger, leading the divorce case to encounter more complications.
“Ms. Sumrs, I have known Mr. Douglas for several years and have so understanding of him. He is a man of practicality and is not unreasonable. There really is no need for things between you two to have reached such an impasse,” Gavin Graves said.
He paused slightly, then continued, “He very much wants to see Mrs. Douglas and misses the child.”
