Chapter 595: Chapter 595 Must Escape Imdiately_1
Jade Carlson ignored Evelyn Willard.
She spotted the lighter on the bedside table, walked over to pick it up in her hand, and turned to leave.
Evelyn Willard sat up from the bed imdiately, “What are you doing with a lighter in the middle of the night?!”
Jade walked straight out the door, but Evelyn slipped on her slippers and chased after her, grabbing her hand and demanding, “What’s the matter with you? Why won’t you answer?”
“Mind your own business.” Jade shook off her hand and hurried towards her own room.
Seeing Jade’s anxious and irritated deanor, Evelyn had an epiphany, her face turning pale.
“Jade?… Jade! Stop right there!” Evelyn jogged nervously over and grabbed hold of Jade, “Did you touch that stuff again?! How many tis have I told you! You can’t touch it!”
Evelyn’s voice was particularly sharp and piercing in the silent, night-ti corridor.
“Are you crazy! Keep it down!” Jade hissed, “Do you want to get killed?”
Taking a deep breath, Evelyn gripped Jade, “How could this happen? Didn’t I tell you to tamper with Nathaniel Sumrs’s cigarettes? Why are you smoking them too? Do you even know what that stuff is? Do you understand the consequences at all?”
Jade closed her eyes, frustrated, and rubbed her forehead, “Sotis he insists that I smoke with him… I’ve made excuses to refuse twice, but I can’t refuse every single ti, he’ll get suspicious.”
Hearing this, Evelyn’s heart turned cold.
She stood there stunned, but Jade couldn’t wait any longer and just wanted to get back to her room to take a drag—even just one would be fine, at least to stop feeling as if her whole body was itching unbearably.
“Sothing’s not right.” Evelyn held on, not letting her leave, “Jade, we might have been exposed. Nathaniel is deliberately setting you up… We can’t stay here any longer! Quick, grab your things, we’re leaving right now!”
“What kind of madness is this in the middle of the night?!” Jade was thoroughly annoyed, she just wanted to go back to her room and have a smoke, but Evelyn wouldn’t stop nagging her here!
“Let go!” Jade said angrily.
The two wrestled all the way to the staircase. Jade beca even more frantic, fearing that if a servant happened by, she wouldn’t know how to explain her conflict with Evelyn!
Evelyn said, “We must leave quickly! Nathaniel ans no good, he will definitely use this to blackmail you! Possession, poisoning, drug use, they are all serious cris! Jade, do you want to spend the rest of your life in prison?”
Not to ntion, this would directly implicate Evelyn! After all, she was the supplier of the rchandise!
Normally, Jade would have cald down to think carefully, but right now, her entire body felt like it crawled with ants, irritable and anxious, unable to listen to anything!
“Stop pulling on ! I need to go back to my room!” Jade nearly shouted, she didn’t want to care about anything else, she just wanted to go back to her room and take a few deep drags!
But Evelyn insisted on pulling her downstairs, “While Nathaniel is off guard, we should make a run for it! You go down first and hail a taxi, I’ll grab our things and follow right away…”
“Can’t you just stop annoying ?!” Jade burst out angrily, “If you want to leave, go by yourself, I’m not going!”
Her relationship with Nathaniel had improved with great difficulty, how could she leave?!
No!
She would absolutely not leave!
“Jade, listen to , the situation is wrong…” Evelyn’s hand tightly clutched Jade’s arm, digging deep into the flesh, “Nathaniel probably wants to deal with us, the stuff I gave you before, if it falls into his hands, it becos evidence of cri! We must escape now! Leave Clearwater City!”
“You’re hurting !” Jade struggled vigorously, shoving Evelyn hard, “Get off!—”
Evelyn’s slender body leaned back, her fingers open, scrambling in the air but unable to grasp anything.
Thud!—She fell heavily on the staircase and rolled down.
