Chapter 535: Chapter 535 Stirring up Trouble on Tai Sui’s Head_1
“Ladies and gentlen, please remain calm,” Alexander Sumrs began, “the person who attempted to take the old master’s life must be a swift-moving man. The won may go upstairs to rest first. We have contacted the police, and I believe the matter will soon be brought to light.”
Actually, this statent wasn’t entirely accurate for who’s to say the murderer couldn’t be a female assassin?
But since everyone was accompanied by their ladies, and the n understood the value of chivalry, no one voiced any objection. Besides, they were only going upstairs. Given that the estate was now so tightly secured, even if there were a suspect among the won, they would find escape impossible.
Alexander Sumrs gave Zack Wallace a aningful glance, who got the hint and led the won upstairs while also instructing the servants to prepare the guest rooms.
Alexander Sumrs did not restrict the others. Apart from not allowing them to leave the house, they could drink, eat, use the restroom, or even dance as they pleased.
But there were two dead bodies in the banquet hall—the elder master’s body was still warm, his only accomplice having committed suicide by poison.
At this point, nobody was in the mood to eat, drink, or dance.
Everyone dispersed, so sitting in silence, others gathered and talked. The light outside stread through the windows, tilting into the massive building, illuminating parts of it while casting others into deeper shadows.
The atmosphere was oppressive.
Upstairs, Zack Wallace pretended to boss around the servants and seized the opportunity to slip into a room with Purple Sumrs when no one was looking.
Purple Sumrs was the first to ask Zack Wallace, “Was it you who did this?”
Zack Wallace exclaid his innocence, “Ah, my dear lady, we’re not out of our minds. What do we gain from killing a foolish old man? This is soone trying to fra Master Xander! With the elder master having trouble on Master Xander’s territory, Master Xander cannot escape bla. The engagent will now have no witness, today has been a complete waste!”
Purple Sumrs felt reassured. She also felt that this didn’t seem like sothing Alexander Sumrs would do. Even if Alexander wanted to make a move against the Howard family, he would have taken them down one by one rather than gathering everyone together and provoking public outrage.
She asked, “Do you have any suspects in mind?”
“It’s either Flynn Howard or Yarrow Howard,” Zack Wallace stated bluntly. “They think they’re well-hidden, but Master Xander has been watching them for a long ti. Within the Howard family, these two are the most restless!”
Speaking of which, Zack Wallace beca sowhat frustrated, “It’s a pity we have no evidence right now.”
Master Xander, of course, didn’t need evidence to arrest soone. Once he had soone in custody and sent them to the prison for a couple of days, they would be sure to spill everything they knew and more.
However, in the current situation, making an arrest by force would give cause for people to grumble and criticize.
…But Alexander Sumrs had always been fearless and recklessly bold; he probably wouldn’t mind a few words of gossip.
After so thought, Purple Sumrs said to Zack Wallace, “I have a plan to catch the murderer.”
Zack Wallace asked, “What is it?”
She whispered a few instructions to him, and Zack Wallace’s eyes lit up imdiately, exclaiming, “Your idea is brilliant!”
“I’ll go downstairs and tell the master right away,” Zack Wallace said, excitedly rubbing his hands together. “Digging a hole on the dragon’s head, plucking hair from a tiger, soone is truly courting death. When we catch them, we’ll give them what they deserve! Show them what it ans to wish for death…”
“…” Purple Sumrs gave him a sidelong glance, silent.
Zack Wallace shivered and quickly said, “Of course, of course, we’ll hand them over to the police! Such ungrateful, wicked people must be subjected to legal punishnt! What I said just now was in the heat of the mont, please don’t get wrong…”
Purple Sumrs’s feelings were mixed…
She sighed helplessly in her heart and turned to leave.
Zack Wallace stepped out of the room, gestured to his subordinates standing guard on both sides, and instructed, “You fellows, go outside now and find several nests of ants.”
The subordinates looked at each other, puzzled, one of them asked, “Mr. King, what do we need ants for?”
“If I ask you to find them, just hurry and go. What’s with all the questions?”
“But… how many ants should we find?”
“The more, the better!”
