Capítulo 1685: Chapter 1685: I Have a Little Goldfish 51
Aaron Ray helped the little goldfish clean the scales off her body, then assisted her to her room to rest.
Above the 8th floor of the Entertainnt City are hotel rooms. He chose a room, placed the little goldfish on the bed, and used the room phone to notify her bodyguard. He remained until soone ca to take care of her before leaving the room.
To outsiders, their relationship was like that of siblings, so there was no fear of any scandal.
The scales in his palm were soft, smooth, and cool, with a surface that seed to glow faintly, devoid of any odor.
He stared at them for a mont, then picked one up and put it in his mouth. It felt like holding a snowflake, the cool sensation quickly lting into liquid, moistening his throat.
Life was hard; he never craved the so-called immortality, but the feeling was quite intriguing. Thinking that a part of her body entered his own, it seed as if a myriad of connections still lingered between them in the unseen realm.
Aaron Ray sighed inwardly, put away the remaining scales, and went downstairs to continue socializing.
The opening banquet was not over; he could not be absent.
After the exchange of glasses, there were still song and dance performances and magic shows. Guests who weren’t interested in the shows could play a few gas in the casino, or those preferring quiet had separate VIP rooms.
Aaron Ray hosted briefly in the downstairs banquet hall, finding it strange that Milton Bryce was nowhere to be seen.
Was he slacking off sowhere again?
Aaron Ray waved over a subordinate and instructed, “Go to the auction house and look for Manager Milton. If you see him, tell him I need to see him.”
The person left in response.
Aaron Ray thought for a mont and went to the casino himself. Sotis Milton Bryce sought thrills at the casino.
Back when those scales had dissolved into water inside the glass bottle, the little goldfish later gave them to Milton Bryce. The few in his hand now, he might as well place them with the original ones for easy keeping.
There were quite a few guests in the casino.
The manager responsible for the place saw Aaron Ray coming and quickly ca forward to greet him. Aaron Ray asked, “Have you seen Milton Bryce?”
“No.” The other person shook his head, “I haven’t seen Manager Milton co today.”
Aaron Ray frowned slightly. On the opening day, every place needed staff; could Milton Bryce have gone ho to sleep? He wouldn’t be so reckless…
“Aaron.” Suddenly soone called his na from behind.
Aaron Ray turned, recognizing the other as a real estate boss from Clearwater City, a peer of his father’s generation, with a decent relationship, counting him as Aaron Ray’s “uncle.”
This kind of relationship could be close or distant, no need to offend, nor too friendly.
Aaron Ray smiled blandly and exchanged pleasantries with the man, “You’ve co to show support too. There are many guests today, sorry for any lack of attention…”
He had not finished speaking when he saw soone walk out from behind the other person, and his words faltered.
It was Griffin Dalton.
So… this person had co as a diator.
“I know you two had issues before, but after all, you are cousins. What irresolvable grudge could there be? Besides… these past two years haven’t been easy for Griffin. He already knows his wrongdoing.” The “uncle” spoke, patting Griffin Dalton’s shoulder.
Griffin Dalton knelt on both knees, his face ashen.
Many people around looked over, so curious, so probing, with varied expressions. Those who understood the context lowered their voices to whispers.
“Before, I was blind and arrogant. Cousin Aaron, please be magnanimous, lift your hand and spare .” Griffin Dalton knelt dejectedly in front of Aaron Ray, his words followed by a firm kowtow.
Aaron Ray could clearly hear the dull thud of forehead against the floor.
He looked at the man at his feet without any change in expression, his heart unmoved.
He knew why Griffin Dalton knelt to him.
There’s never a shortage of people who strike when others are down. After he gained power, Griffin Dalton was naturally ostracized and neglected by others, and in business, it’s impossible to fight alone.
So, even though Aaron Ray never personally dealt with Griffin Dalton, others did on his behalf, seeking favor, just to get business into the Entertainnt City.
