Aaron Ray didn’t sleep all night.
As dawn approached, he got up and went to Milton Bryce’s room.
Feeling too conflicted inside, he wanted soone’s advice.
Milton Bryce was sleeping soundly and was abruptly awakened, feeling extrely annoyed: “Can’t whatever it is wait until tomorrow?!”
“It already is tomorrow.”
Aaron Ray pulled over a chair and sat in front of Milton Bryce’s bed, “I promised the other party a reply today.”
“What’s there to agonize over?” Milton Bryce irritably scratched his head, “Of course, let her go!”
Aaron Ray asked, “What’s the reason for her to go?”
Milton Bryce retorted, “What’s the reason for her not to go?”
Aaron Ray pursed his lips, remaining silent.
Seeing Aaron Ray’s sullen look made Milton Bryce irritated. He sighed heavily, pulled off the covers, put on his shoes, and rummaged through a drawer, pulling out so discarded paper and pens lacking caps, throwing them all in front of Aaron Ray—
“If you can’t decide, let’s list all the reasons for going and not going on paper and compare them.”
Aaron Ray was silent for a mont before saying, “If she goes alone to the island, if her identity is exposed, the consequences would be unimaginable.”
Milton Bryce nodded, “Okay, I’ll write that down.”
He picked up the paper and pen and wrote “Don’t Go” and “Go”, then under “Don’t Go” he wrote: Identity Exposure.
After writing, he paused and added, “But if she goes, becos Master Howard’s woman, she’ll have a lifeti of wealth and privilege, never having to worry about food and drink… even if he only favors her for a while, Master Howard would never treat Goldfish poorly.”
He started writing reasons under “Go”.
Aaron Ray couldn’t help but argue, “Even if Master Howard favors her, he’s not just with her, those won would use any trick to compete for favor, Goldfish isn’t their match.”
Milton Bryce added another reason under “Don’t Go”: Can’t Compete for Favor.
Then he thoughtfully mused, “But if she doesn’t go, will Master Howard see her as a thorn in his side? Master Howard’s ans are surely more terrifying than any woman’s sches…”
“Master Howard wouldn’t be so petty,” Aaron Ray said.
Milton Bryce heard him and glanced over, a subtle smile on his face: “It’s not about being petty, for anyone, what they can’t have is always the best, and Master Howard is just a re mortal.”
Aaron Ray didn’t respond, keeping a calm expression.
Milton Bryce laughed again, this ti the laughter carried more sarcasm, “What’s wrong? You must have had this thought a long ti ago, otherwise you wouldn’t have dressed her beautifully and taken her out… why are you hesitating now that things are at hand?”
Aaron Ray thought: back then, it wasn’t the sa as now…
Back then, he had reached an extre point of despair, unable to care about anything.
But now, his life was comfortable.
He was eating well, dressed warmly, had a place to live, money to spend, and finally had extra thoughts to consider other things, like etiquette, sha, responsibility, and duty.
“Here’s what.” Milton Bryce no longer waited for his response, saying directly, “Let’s not think about us for now, let’s consider Goldfish’s perspective.”
Goldfish’s perspective…
Aaron Ray hesitated for a mont, then said softly, “She doesn’t want to go.”
From her standpoint, of course, it’s always about being with him.
“What’s the benefit of staying by your side?” Milton Bryce bluntly stated, “She’ll eventually realize she’s mistaken. By then, what will you do? Would you beg her to stay or directly lock her up?”
Aaron Ray looked up at him, “I never thought of doing that.”
Milton Bryce scoffed, murmuring, “Actually, being with Harvey Howard isn’t bad, anything slipped through Harvey Howard’s fingers would be enough for her lifeti stability, even if Goldfish is unlucky and her identity is exposed, Harvey Howard has the money and power to protect her.”
After speaking, he looked up at Aaron Ray, his expression unusually serious, “I really think she should go.”
