Chapter 1622: Chapter 1622

The suicide note is still those few lines of poetry, no matter how it’s looked at, nothing seems unusual.

If Lauren Jones truly wanted to leave a ssage, why didn’t she directly tell the police or the doctor? Why resort to such an extre thod?

Using death as a price, just to leave this acrostic poem? If no one cracks the code, wouldn’t she have died in vain?

This is also the part Aria Jackson finds most perplexing.

“Lauren Jones is only 17, her level of education isn’t high. If there’s another layer of mystery in the acrostic poem, it certainly won’t be hidden too deep.”

Aria Jackson looks at the acrostic poem forwards, backwards, sideways, upside down, but still can’t make sense of it.

Could it be that she’s too sensitive?… Lauren Jones simply couldn’t think straight?

“When she was hospitalized, she scarcely spoke, and indeed looked a bit like depression,” Hudson Chester said.

Aria Jackson asked, “What’s the na of her fellow townsman?”

Hudson Chester shook his head.

How could a doctor have ti to rember the nas of patients’ family mbers?

Aria Jackson didn’t speak further, just stared at the acrostic poem, contemplating sothing with extre focus.

Hudson Chester looked at the leftover food in the lunchbox, guessing she’s not going to eat more, silently cleaned up and took it out for washing.

Aria Jackson was so engrossed in thought that she didn’t notice when Hudson Chester left.

By the ti Hudson Chester finished his tasks, it was already 7 PM. When he returned to check on Aria Jackson, he found the hospital room full of people—

Lionel and Bobby were both there, along with another officer he hadn’t seen before, seemingly a technician, who was retrieving surveillance footage on a laptop, while Aria Jackson sat on the hospital bed, surrounded by files and docunts.

The small hospital room had beco a makeshift investigation room.

Hudson Chester was stunned.

He walked over to Aria Jackson’s side, seeing her completely absorbed in the materials she held, which included a two-inch photograph with a sowhat familiar-looking man.

Hudson Chester thought for a mont, finally recalling that this man was who had brought Lauren Jones to the hospital.

“His na is Joel Jensen, a man once imprisoned for robbery. Here’s his personal information.” Aria Jackson handed one of the docunts to Hudson Chester.

Hudson Chester glanced down at it: Joel Jensen, male, 25 years old, from adowlake Village in Solaris Town…

“adowlake Village…” he murmured, his thoughts montarily fragnted.

Aria Jackson looked at him, “Lauren Jones’s hotown is Verdant Village in Newman Town. She and Joel Jensen aren’t from the sa town at all. Lauren Jones’s final words are shrouded, definitely ant to guard against Joel Jensen.”

Hudson Chester was shocked and couldn’t help asking, “How did you find out?”

“I got soone to pull the surveillance at the hospital entrance, used computer face recognition, Joel Jensen has a criminal record, so the intelligent system was able to identify him automatically.”

Aria Jackson briefly explained, and then the officer spoke up: “The suspect disappeared after entering Windfall Street.”

“Pull up the digital map,” Aria Jackson said.

Lionel brought over another laptop, and the digital map showed the surveillance caras near Windfall Street.

Aria Jackson marked a few spots and commanded: “Check all the surveillance in these areas.”

The group worked hard to scrutinize the surveillance, attempting to locate Joel Jensen’s whereabouts, but he didn’t appear again in any footage.

Bobby pointed to one of the blind spots in the surveillance and told Aria Jackson, “If Joel Jensen took a vehicle from here, tracking him would be very difficult.”

The vehicles on that section of the road were countless, no one knew which car Joel Jensen boarded.

Aria Jackson felt a pang of frustration, instinctively reached for a cigarette on the cabinet beside her, touched it twice but accidentally caught Hudson Chester’s hand instead.

Aria Jackson: “…”

She awkwardly withdrew her hand and, pretending to be calm, said, “Um… where’s my cup?”

Hudson Chester’s gaze fell on the glass cup in front of them, cleared his throat, and said, “I took it to wash.”

“Oh… thank you.” Aria Jackson’s cheeks slightly reddened, quietly murmuring, “Weird, how co I didn’t see it when it was right in front…”

Hudson Chester picked up the cup and walked out, while Lionel imdiately leaned over and told Aria Jackson, “Boss, you can’t go on like this, you need to be more proactive!”
