On the plane from Pearlpoint to Clearwater, Purple Sumrs thought about many things.
What she thought about the most was Nathaniel Sumrs.
At the last mont, he let go of his hands, his voice incredibly calm: "Give Cherry a chance to live, I was the one who made her kill, she knows nothing..."
These words beca his final words. It was like a deathbed entrustnt, impossible to refuse.
It was only when Purple woke up that Cherry had already sunk to the bottom of the river with that dagger, and the matter was thus concluded.
Maybe her personality was indeed too saintly. Compared to Alexander Sumrs, she harbored surprisingly little resentnt towards Cherry. Perhaps, subconsciously influenced by those final words...
Recalling how, at the end of Nathaniel’s life, he neither ntioned his love for her nor his hatred for Alexander, but was concerned about Cherry’s safety.
This bit of care made Purple feel that the ending had a touch of warmth and a hint of hope.
After the plane arrived in Clearwater, Purple disembarked with her assistant, bodyguard, and others. Aria Jackson and Marcel Jefferson ca to pick her up.
Long ti no see, so her close female friend gave her a strong hug first.
Marcel Jefferson said with bright eyes from the side, "Haven’t seen you take a case in a long ti, who are you going against this ti?"
Purple Sumrs laughed, "Don’t get excited, it’s just a small case."
"Don’t rush back after the trial," Aria Jackson said, "Stay and help investigate a case."
Purple Sumrs laughed and said, "I’m not a prosecutor anymore, I’m a lawyer, isn’t it inappropriate to cross professions?"
"Doesn’t matter, the higher-ups are going crazy anyway. As long as we can crack the case, they’ll hire anyone, even a taoist priest. Hiring a lawyer is nothing," Aria Jackson said.
Marcel Jefferson curiously leaned over and asked, "Cousin, what kind of case is it?"
"Move aside," Aria Jackson knocked his head, "It’s confidential."
Purple Sumrs smiled and the group left the airport.
...
The next day, Purple Sumrs went to Gavin Graves’ new residence to et with the Graves Family lawyer.
Gavin Graves and Cherry were there too, and while the lawyer introduced the situation to her, they sat opposite her.
The unruly little girl from her mory had suddenly beco soone close to her own age, which made her a bit unaccustod, and this person even resembled her slightly.
Purple Sumrs recalled that they both carried Richards Family blood.
"The difficulty of this case lies in the lack of evidence. Since it was an attempt, there’s no sperm, no injuries, and no one heard any cries for help or argunts. Witnesses nearby can prove that Mrs. Graves willingly entered that room, so... the situation is really unfavorable for us."
The lawyer said, sighing, "If this man had a prior record, we might be able to gain so ground in court, but previous victims have all chosen to remain silent, which makes it quite difficult."
Purple Sumrs nodded slightly and concluded, "So, besides Mrs. Graves’ own testimony, we have no evidence to convict the opposing party."
"That’s correct," the lawyer nodded.
Cherry looked at Purple Sumrs with her clear and bright eyes, "Without evidence, can we win the case?"
Purple Sumrs flipped through the pitifully thin case materials, hearing her voice, looked up at her and smiled faintly, "Yes, we can win."
Cherry’s eyes widened even more, "Even if I willingly went ho with him, can we still win?"
Purple Sumrs calmly nodded, "Yes, we can win."
Cherry’s expression beca even more amazed, she asked, "What if I don’t testify in court? Can we still win?"
Gavin Graves was greatly troubled, "Cherry, a trial isn’t a ga. If you decide to go to court, you must take it seriously."
Cherry hurriedly said, "Don’t be angry, I was just asking..."
Purple Sumrs silently watched their interaction, smiling as she said, "Mrs. Graves, even if I don’t have you testify, the opposing lawyer will have the judge issue a subpoena for you."
"I’ll go, I definitely will," Cherry said, "I want to dress up beautifully. Can you take pictures of then?"
Purple Sumrs’ mouth twitched, "Don’t worry, there will be plenty of people eager to take pictures of you then."
