Chapter 1453: Chapter 1453: Where Did the Dagger Go

A few cars changed direction and headed towards the cetery.

As they neared, a number of shops selling incense and ritual money lined the roadside. Alexander Sumrs had the car stop briefly to buy so ritual money.

It’s neither year-end nor Tomb-Sweeping Day, so the cetery was quite peaceful.

They located Nathaniel Sumrs’ tombstone and indeed noticed signs that the two tiles directly in front had been tampered with.

If they had co later on, the tiles would have been pressed down by passersby, and the gaps filled with dust, making the traces much harder to detect.

They pried open those two tiles, but unexpectedly, beneath them was only yellowish-brown soil and gravel.

Hunter Dalton couldn’t help but be surprised, “The tiles were clearly moved, but why isn’t the dagger there? Did she hide it sowhere else?”

A subordinate asked Alexander Sumrs, “Do we need to search other places?”

Searching elsewhere would an prying open all the tiles in the vicinity, which would cause quite a disturbance.

Alexander Sumrs frowned at the layer of soil, remained silent for a mont, then calmly said, “Put the tiles back.”

He burned so ritual money for Nathaniel and then left the cetery.

Once he got into the car, he called Gavin Graves, cutting to the chase, “Did you take the dagger?”

“I only saw the dagger once, on the day of the wedding,” Gavin Graves replied.

Alexander Sumrs chuckled lightly, a sound filled with disdain, “Gavin, the dagger is made from her corpse, and it’s likely the only thing in the world that can control her. If it’s in your possession, you’d better keep it safe and away from that little ghost. Otherwise, if you two have a falling out in the future, you won’t have anything to rely on, wouldn’t that be pitiful?”

Gavin Graves’ voice remained indifferent, “Thank you for your concern.”

The line disconnected.

Gavin Graves sat in the study room, lost in thought.

Uncertain how much ti had passed, a gentle knocking sounded from outside.

“Co in.”

The door slowly opened, Cherry ca in, carrying a bowl, with a sweet smile on her face, like an innocent and carefree young girl.

“Gavin, you didn’t eat earlier, so I made a salad. Do you want so?”

She approached him, placed the bowl with the salad on the table, inside it was a mix of red and green that looked fresh and appetizing.

“I don’t usually cook. They said salads are simple, so I tried to learn how to make one… But there are actually a lot of little tricks.”

She held his hand, speaking tenderly as if nothing had ever happened.

“Taste it, it’s really good. I added cherry tomatoes, apples, purple cabbage, parsan cheese…”

Gavin Graves nodded faintly, “Alright, I’ll eat it later.”

Cherry gazed into Gavin Graves’ eyes.

She wanted to sit on his lap as usual but hesitated, nervously testing his reaction, “Gavin, I cut my finger when slicing the apple. It hurts…”

“Let see,” Gavin Graves said.

Cherry extended her index finger.

Gavin Graves examined it, “It’s fine, not too deep, go to your room and put a band-aid on it.”

Cherry pursed her lips and whispered again, “Gavin, my finger really hurts… Could you blow on it?”

Gavin Graves’ voice carried fatigue, seeming exhausted from dealing with her, “Go on, get a band-aid.”

Cherry lowered her head in dismay, clutching her finger as she left the study room.

Deep into the night, loneliness was profound.

The soft warmth of touch awakened the senses.

He groggily opened his eyes to see her greedily sucking on his finger.

Her lips so crimson, her skin so pale, long hair like black seaweed frad her delicate face — lying on top of him like a sensual demon arriving in the night, seeking a night of oblivion.

And from his fingertips, the black seeped out like wisps of smoke swirling around, ultimately being thoroughly consud by those lips more tender than petals…

The anticipated pain arrived, his entire body tensed up. The agony nearly drove him to collapse, his head felt like it was splitting, and his ears buzzed loudly.

In the midst of confusion, he sensed her clutching him tightly, humbly pleading, “Gavin, I’ll stop learning mahjong, I won’t go out to play… I will cure your illness, I will be obedient, please keep …”
