Love has lowered her intelligence, but not so much that she’s completely idiotic.

Jane McCain deeply felt a sense of sha and anger from being fooled.

Sha that she actually fell for it; anger that whether breaking up or reconciling, Allen Rivera showed no sincerity at all.

This is the most infuriating part.

When a woman thinks sothing is of utmost importance and must be resolved, a man wants to trivialize it or dismiss it altogether.

She was so mad that she suggested breaking up! Allen Rivera actually thought a few als could numb her, deceive her—too infuriating!

She took a small makeup mirror out of her bag, seriously looked at herself in the mirror, and asked, "Do I look easy to fool? Does he see as brainless?"

The answer is discouraging.

Jane McCain pressed the button on the desk phone and instructed her assistant, "Lisa, I won’t see anyone today, understood?"

...

Every Friday afternoon, the company holds a regular eting where departnt heads report this week’s work content and encountered issues.

During the eting, assistant Lisa knocked and entered, standing at the door with an unnatural expression, "Ms. Janey, Mr. Rivera is looking for you..."

Ruby Spencer’s company follows a foreign enterprise model, with most internally addressing each other by English nas, Janey is Jane McCain’s English na.

After Lisa finished speaking, everyone in the conference room looked at Jane McCain.

Jane McCain looked extrely displeased, "Didn’t I say I’m very busy today and won’t see anyone!"

Lisa awkwardly said, "I told Mr. Rivera, but Mr. Rivera said... please return the house key to him, otherwise he can’t go ho."

Jane McCain: "..."

Everyone’s expressions suddenly beca colorful.

Jane McCain took a deep breath, slowly stood up, and tried to appear calm...

"Shirley will continue to host the eting, and please send your weekly reports to my email after."

After briefly instructing a few things, she returned to the office with a dark face, and sure enough, saw Allen Rivera sitting inside.

Jane McCain ignored him, walked around the desk, sat down, and searched through her bag for a while before pulling out a house key and slapping it onto the desk.

The sound of the key colliding with the desk was loud, signifying her great annoyance at the mont.

Allen Rivera didn’t care much, took back his key, looked at her, "Thank you, for keeping it safe, I thought you already threw it away."

Jane McCain was montarily speechless.

The key was given to her by Allen Rivera before, when she often waited for him after work at the Prosecutor’s Office. Allen was worried she’d be bored and let her wait at his place, even saying the internet speed at his ho was fast and watching cartoons wouldn’t lag...

Now with him saying that, it seed as if she overly valued his things.

"I always kept it in my bag, I forgot about it long ago." Jane McCain stubbornly proved she wasn’t still emotionally attached to him.

Allen Rivera, with a calm expression, asked, "Shall we have dinner after work?"

"Not going." Jane McCain refused, "The restaurant is too far."

Allen Rivera’s expression didn’t change a bit, calmly saying, "Then let’s go sowhere nearby."

You think I’ll still trust you? Going to a chaotic place won’t result in any proper conversation!

Jane McCain almost cursed internally, but only pursed her lips outwardly, coldly saying, "I don’t eat hot pot, grilled at, or anything with a strong taste."

"Okay, fine." Allen Rivera nodded.

His agreeable nature inexplicably irritated Jane McCain.

She felt that Allen Rivera now was like a round and smooth marble—seemingly transparent, yet inside it was all sorts of light refractions, obscuring vision with illusions, making it impossible to find any flaw or handle despite wanting to.

"I’m very busy today, will work late." She stiffly said.

Allen Rivera said, "No problem, I can wait."

"Suit yourself if you like waiting..." Jane McCain tossed out a sentence, feeling heart-heavy and chaotic as she walked away.

She ca out of the office, hid in the restroom, and looked at herself in the mirror, appearing sowhat like a soldier defeated in battle, with a face full of negativity and confusion.
