Chapter 1286: Chapter 1286
Jane McCain picked up the Christmas gift she had prepared and walked out of the dormitory room, seeing a group of people striding towards her from down the corridor, exuding an impressive aura.
Her heart was racing, her gaze seed magnetically attracted to the man in the middle of the crowd, and she couldn’t look away.
Allen Rivera was wearing a long black coat, left open to reveal the dark suit underneath. His tall, slender figure cut through the air with a sense of grandeur, his entire deanor cool and aloof, exuding a commanding presence.
Neither the assistant beside him nor the stalwart officers behind him stood out in comparison.
Pressing a hand to her pounding heart, Jane McCain shyly thought: Even his walking posture is so handso?
However, when their eyes t, Allen’s gaze suddenly darkened.
Jane McCain was slightly stunned.
Before she could greet him, Allen had already walked over in a few strides, his gaze sweeping over her with an increasingly stern and cold expression.
“What’s going on?” He looked at Ray Cooper next to Jane McCain.
A simple question, devoid of emotion, yet anyone could sense Allen’s displeasure at that mont.
Ray Cooper was sowhat flabbergasted, opening his mouth but unable to utter a word.
Jane McCain, feeling awkward, lowered her head, her spirits plumting. She explained softly, “I’m here to give you a gift…”
Tightly clutching the gift bag in her hand, she was unsure whether to give it to him now.
Thinking about how she had co all the way here, feeling soreness from the journey, rely because she missed him so much, made her feel quite aggrieved… But then again, she realized he was busy with important work there, and her sudden appearance might indeed be inappropriate.
Was he really angry? His stern face looked quite intimidating.
Jane McCain thought about various things in her mind, the sense of grievance hard to ignore, as her eyes slowly reddened.
At this mont, she heard Allen instruct his assistant, “Morgan, you go ahead and eat with Captain Wright and the others. Everyone’s tired today, we’ll have the eting later… Ray Cooper, you and Juliet Stewart should also go and get updated on the case progress.”
Footsteps faded away, and everyone around left.
Jane McCain still kept her head down, staring at the gift bag in her hands.
A weight on her shoulder, it was Allen’s arm pulling her into the dormitory room and closing the door behind them.
The door made a thudding sound, and Jane McCain felt her heart thump along with it.
“Didn’t you say you were giving a gift? Why are you standing there like a fool?” Allen asked with a smile.
Noticing the softness in his tone, Jane McCain imdiately snuggled into his arms, murmuring in her defense, “Ray Cooper tempted to co here, I’ll leave soon, I won’t interrupt your work…”
“With such heavy snow outside, where do you plan to go?” Allen asked.
Jane McCain lifted her head, noticing the fine snowflakes scattered on Allen’s shoulders and hair from the close distance.
Getting closer, there were so flecks of moisture on his eyelashes too…
Closer still…
He lowered his head and kissed her.
Gentle, slow, deeply affectionate and yet powerful in its conquest. If the entanglent of lips and tongues was a battlefield, his strategy was like water—soundlessly overthrowing the fortress, flooding her heart, sinking her into the suffocating embrace.
Just as Jane McCain was about to collapse, Allen finally let her go.
Her brain turned into a muddle, and she vaguely heard him ask, “Tell , how did Ray Cooper tempt you?”
“He said… I’d feel relieved after giving the gift, you’d be happy to see , everyone would be joyous…”
Allen nodded, “Yes, I am quite happy.”
“But you were angry just now…” Jane McCain started to clear her mind, pouting in complaint.
Allen held her hands and pressed them to his lips, smiling, “I was angry because he took advantage of my absence to lure my woman to the boondocks. How could I not be angry?”
Jane McCain broke into a smile, all her grievances lting into sweetness.
Allen lowered his head to kiss her again, asking with a smile, “Did you miss ?”
Looking into his eyes, Jane McCain felt a tingling sensation in her heart, even her toes were floating.
