The dishes brought were two at dishes and two vegetable dishes. Allen Rivera really enjoyed them and almost ate them all.
The other colleagues in the office weren’t so lucky. Their overti als had to be sorted out in the cafeteria of the Prosecutor’s Office.
After dinner, everyone continued working overti. Like yesterday, Jane McCain took out her tablet and snacks, watching cartoons to pass the ti.
She had only watched one episode when Allen Rivera finished his work.
Jane McCain glanced at the ti; it wasn’t too late to get off work today.
She happily followed Allen Rivera out of the office and into the car, suddenly rembering sothing: Since they had already had dinner, what should they do now?
Surely, they wouldn’t just go ho separately...
Allen Rivera obviously realized this issue too.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, he thought for a mont and then turned his head to Jane McCain, asking, "Shall we go to the movies?"
"Sure." Jane McCain responded without hesitation.
...
In the cinema, regardless of whether the current hit was a sci-fi film, action film, mystery film, or horror film, love was the eternal the.
Allen Rivera bought couple tickets for the VIP screening room, which included popcorn and orange juice.
When he handed it to Jane McCain, he hesitated slightly and asked, "Do you still have ntal barriers about drinking beverages from outside?"
Jane McCain took the orange juice, hooked her arm around Allen Rivera’s, and said softly, "Actually... that last exposure therapy worked a bit."
Allen Rivera raised his eyebrows slightly.
Jane McCain said, "Really. I used to be scared to touch soups and drinks from outside, fearing soone might secretly drug them, always being paranoid. But now I don’t think like that anymore."
She shook her cup slightly, lowering her head to carefully stare at the liquid in the transparent beverage cup.
"But... I’ve developed a new issue. I constantly worry soone might prank and put eyeballs in it. So no matter what I eat or drink, if I don’t stir it a few tis, I can’t bring myself to consu it."
Allen Rivera thought about it, led Jane McCain to a nearby seat, opened the lids of both beverages, stirred them each a few tis with straws, and then put the lids back on.
"Let’s go in now." Allen Rivera said.
"Okay." Jane McCain pursed her lips, a shy smile with a hint of triumph spilling over.
Although it was just a trivial action, Jane McCain felt ward by it, and her good mood lasted until the movie started. Although the plot was incredibly clichéd, she watched it with great interest.
It’s unclear who the director was; the plot was logically incoherent, yet fresh and artistic, with romantic cinematography that made almost every scene capable of being used as wallpaper.
The content was extrely dull, prompting Jane McCain to decide to treat it as a scenic film.
She stared at the large screen, picked up a piece of popcorn, and bit into it. The milky aroma was sweet, making her heart even sweeter.
She reached for more and accidentally touched Allen Rivera’s hand in the popcorn bucket.
Skin lightly brushed, like a tingly electric current rushing through her fingertips. She trembled slightly, dropping the popcorn back into the bucket.
Nothing much happened, but her heartbeat embarrassingly skipped a beat because of it.
The next mont, Allen Rivera picked up the popcorn and placed it into her palm.
Jane McCain’s eyes remained fixed on the large screen as she pretended to be calm, pulling her hand back and placing the popcorn into her mouth, her lips curling upwards continuously while chewing...
The screening room was dim and quiet.
On the screen, the male and female protagonists were leaning on each other, confessing their feelings. The couples watching the movie were also leaning on each other, so whispering softly, others caressing affectionately.
Jane McCain glanced at the couple in the front row, their heads close together, and what they were doing was obvious.
She felt slightly embarrassed and turned her gaze away, only to discover the couple next to her was also...
The male and female protagonists on the large screen were also...
The entire world seed to be...
Jane McCain thought to herself: Should I pretend not to see or pretend not to see?
"Janie."
Allen Rivera called her softly.
Jane McCain turned to look at him, seeing Allen Rivera gesture for her to co closer with his finger.
To be honest, this gesture felt a bit cheeky, like teasing a dog.
But Jane McCain didn’t think too much and approached him.
He bent forward and kissed her lips.
