Maybe he went to the restroom?

Jane McCain thought this and withdrew her gaze, continuing to watch the cartoon.

"Can you be a bit more serious? All the numbering in this section is wrong! Do you want us to stay up all night with you?"

"Fiona, say less..."

The sudden sound of an argunt ca through, and Jane silently turned the cartoon volu to the lowest setting.

To be precise, it wasn’t really an argunt; it was just a girl with glasses complaining to another girl, while two other guys in the office acted as diators, trying to calm things down with their words.

Maybe it was because Allen Rivera could co back at any ti, or perhaps they were worried that Jane would hear, their voices weren’t loud, but it was enough for Jane to understand the whole story.

The girl with glasses was nad Fiona Lake, she wasn’t tall, and her hair just reached her shoulders.

Judging by her tone and actions, her personality seed straightforward and efficient. She neatly organized every part of the materials she completed, sorting them into file bags and then placing them tidily on Allen Rivera’s desk.

The other girl was nad Juliet Stewart. She looked gentler, with long hair tied in a loose ponytail. She worked slowly, and her typing speed was much slower compared to Fiona.

They could have gotten off work on ti today, but near the end of the day, Juliet mixed an important docunt with the discarded ones, and it all got shredded.

Since Allen Rivera needed these materials for court early tomorrow morning, they couldn’t afford any delays. Therefore, all four of them had to stay and work overti.

Such a basic mistake wasted half a day’s work, and anyone in this situation would feel frustrated.

However, Juliet was delicate, making it hard for the guys to say anything.

Fiona, on the other hand, had no such concerns and directly voiced her complaints.

Not long after Fiona started complaining, Juliet’s eyes reddened, and Fiona irritably said, "Can you wait to cry until after the work is done? If the defendant can’t be convicted tomorrow because our materials weren’t prepared properly, you can cry with the victim’s family!"

Her words were very harsh, and Juliet’s tears fell instantly.

The two guys beside them didn’t dare to stay idle. One tried to persuade Fiona, while the other handed tissues to Juliet to wipe her tears. It took a while for the situation in the office to beco sowhat calm again.

Jane pretended to eavesdrop for a while, but when there was no more drama, she turned the cartoon volu back up...

Before long, Allen Rivera returned, and the office beca even quieter.

The work was finished earlier than Allen had estimated, seemingly thanks to Fiona’s efficiency.

Allen verbally praised a few assistants, and when it was Juliet’s turn, he simply said, "Be more careful next ti."

Jane noticed that Juliet’s face turned a few shades paler, looking as if she’d been deeply hurt.

Could those four words really be so devastating? Could she possibly have a crush on the boss?

Jane wondered to herself.

When a relationship is new, partners usually get nervous, and any close interaction with the opposite sex could make them suspect another woman. However, seeing how strict Allen was with his assistants, Jane’s heart inexplicably cald down.

After work, Allen took Jane out for dinner.

Since they were late, they waited a long ti for a table, and by the ti they finished dinner, it was almost ten o’clock.

On the way ho, Allen felt very apologetic.

"Next ti, don’t wait for . Don’t harm your health," he said.

Jane shook her head, "It’s okay. Sotis I want to lose weight, so I deliberately skip dinner, but then I get so hungry by eleven or twelve, that I end up looking for late-night snacks. Today, let’s just consider it a late-night snack."

Allen chuckled and reached out to touch Jane’s head, "Doing that too often will ruin your stomach. Next ti, if I’m busy, you eat first, and I’ll co see you after I’m done."

"But ruining your stomach isn’t good either." Jane suddenly had an idea and suggested, "How about I bring you a packed dinner?"
