Chapter 1233: Chapter 1233
Jane McCain stood not far away, staring blankly at the scene.
The man was beaten so badly that he curled up on the ground, unable to get up for a long ti. The other custors looked on in shock, not one daring to speak.
Allen Rivera called the patrol officer on the nearby street, then asked the Japanese restaurant staff for a resealable bag and poured a little orange juice into it.
The patrol officer patrolled the designated street and arrived at the restaurant quickly, handcuffing the man directly.
Allen handed over the small bag of orange juice as well: “Take it to the detention center first. Once the forensic results are out, charge him with attempted rape.”
Once the patrol officer had taken the man away, the atmosphere in the restaurant slowly returned to normal…
Allen walked up to Jane, looked her up and down, and asked, “Going ho?”
Jane finally snapped out of it and quickly nodded.
The two of them paid the bill and left the Japanese restaurant, one behind the other. As usual, he drove her ho.
The car speed was steady as always.
Jane didn’t say a word the whole way. She stared out the window, daydreaming, and then suddenly snickered.
Allen raised an eyebrow and glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
Noticing Allen’s gaze, Jane quickly adjusted her expression, but she couldn’t hide the suppressed laughter on her face.
“What’s so funny?” Allen asked.
She pursed her lips, her eyes darting around as she looked out the window, whispering, “Nothing much.”
Allen didn’t ask again, just kept driving with his hands on the wheel.
As the car stopped at a traffic light, Jane snickered again while waiting for the green light.
Allen looked at her again, and although he didn’t ask, his eyes were filled with curiosity.
Jane awkwardly touched her face, feeling a bit hot, guessing that her face was already red.
“It’s nothing…” she mumbled shyly, “I just suddenly rembered that joke that guy told earlier. I thought it was disgusting at the ti, but now thinking about it… it’s kinda funny…”
“What joke?” Allen asked.
Jane’s cheeks were flushed, “It’s one of those… you know, dirty jokes.”
“Oh.” Allen nodded slightly, “Was it really funny? Tell .”
Jane: “…”
This… is a bit hard to say, right?
The waiting ti at the red light felt unusually long for so reason.
The long silence in the car made the atmosphere even more awkward. Allen turned to look at her, his expression as calm and indifferent as always. “Why aren’t you saying anything?” he asked.
“Actually, it’s not that funny…” Jane struggled for a bit before she finally spoke, “He said he was willing to be my servant, but he wanted to… to give him… grass.”
The silence continued.
Jane’s mind was in a chaotic flurry.
Not telling the joke felt awkward, but telling the joke seed even more awkward.
Trying to smooth things over, she shrugged carelessly and laughed, “Pretty vulgar, right? Hehehe…”
The red light finally turned green. Allen continued driving without responding to her comnt.
Jane felt even more uneasy, “So… don’t prosecutors usually like to tell jokes?”
“Occasionally, we do,” Allen said. “Work is work, private life is private life. After work, sotis we go out for dinner, karaoke, card gas, and make jokes too.”
“Really…” Jane murmured, but her expression showed doubt. She always felt that a person like Allen should be making tea and discussing life earnestly even in his leisure ti.
“You don’t believe ?” Allen smiled faintly, “I’ll tell you an adult joke too.”
Jane was a bit surprised, her eyes widened as she stared straight at him.
An adult… joke?
“Once upon a ti, the Sphinx liked to ask passersby: if your mother and your wife were drowning, who would you save?
If the person chose their mother, the Sphinx would kill them for being unfaithful to their wife. If the person chose their wife, the Sphinx would kill them for being unfilial.
This way, the Sphinx killed many people.
One day, the Sphinx t Oedipus, and then the Sphinx jumped off a cliff and killed herself.”
Jane: “???”
… What did I just hear?
