Chapter 1182: Chapter 1182 (⊙_⊙)_1

Purple Sumrs, having finished speaking, scrutinized Cherry’s expression, attempting to discern her reaction.

Whether it was because ghostly thoughts were unpredictable or because the mind of a child was hard to understand, Purple Sumrs could only see that Cherry was unhappy. However, she could not capture any more specific or subtle emotions.

Cherry pouted with red-rimd eyes and continued to work on the puzzle.

But her mind was not on the puzzle; she assembled it chaotically.

Nathaniel Sumrs placed Purple Sumrs’ breakfast on the table and felt an unusual atmosphere in the living room. He glanced suspiciously at Cherry.

While he was in the kitchen, he had heard the two of them talking, although he was not privy to the content of the conversation since their voices were soft.

Nathaniel frowned at Purple Sumrs and asked, “What did you say to her?”

“I told her that you like ,” Purple Sumrs didn’t hide anything and replied with a mocking sneer, “So much that you can’t be without , you wanted to tie down and make spend my life with you. How is it, did I say sothing wrong?”

Nathaniel furrowed his brow and, without a word, turned back to the kitchen to wash the dishes.

In this period, he was like the ideal family man, dutifully caring for a woman and a child.

Of course, Purple Sumrs was not moved to tears with gratitude, but she was genuinely surprised by his change.

After Nathaniel finished with the kitchen, he took out a pack of cigarettes as usual, preparing to go into the yard to smoke. He had the habit of smoking but didn’t like the sll of smoke inside the house.

It was then that Cherry suddenly lost her temper.

She violently overturned the half-completed puzzle, roaring in anger, “This isn’t fun at all! It’s all lies! It’s impossible to complete! Impossible!”

Nathaniel’s steps towards the door halted, and he turned around, frowning at Cherry.

Cherry bit her lip as tears fell, grabbing the example sheet of the puzzle as if she was going to tear it.

“Cherry,” Nathaniel called out to her.

Purple Sumrs then saw Cherry’s hand that was holding the paper slowly curl up; although she had intended to tear it, in the end, she just crumpled it up in frustration and threw it on the floor.

“I can’t do it!” Cherry cried.

Nathaniel watched her quietly for a while, then ca over and sat sideways on the cartoon mat. He silently straightened the crumpled sheet and began to match the puzzle pieces to the picture.

Purple Sumrs thought that his good patience was probably honed by this little ghost.

Cherry moved closer to help Nathaniel with the puzzle, and before long, her face was bursting with smiles, her eyelashes still damp with tears, but her eyes were full of laughter.

Purple Sumrs let out a slight sigh in her heart, thinking to herself, “Is it all for nothing?”

She felt so regret.

She had intended to drive a wedge between them, but now it seed, Cherry’s attachnt to Nathaniel was extraordinary. To win Nathaniel’s favor, Cherry might not agree to let her leave this place.

Purple Sumrs thought her scheming had been ineffective, but soon she realized she was wrong.

Cherry was very sensitive; since Purple Sumrs had spoken those words, Cherry beca more clingy than before and would sotis stare blankly at Purple Sumrs, as if lost in thought.

Perhaps it was hesitating to let her go? – Purple Sumrs thought to herself.

At night, Cherry insisted that Nathaniel read her a storybook before she would agree to go to sleep.

Generally, as long as the request wasn’t too excessive, Nathaniel fulfilled Cherry’s wishes. He randomly picked up a fairy tale book and started to teach her how to read the words on the cover, “Cinder… ella…”

Cherry followed him, reading each word.

That’s when Purple Sumrs, lying nearby, realized that Cherry couldn’t read.

Indeed.

She was just a ghost, after all. Even with intelligence, having always stayed in the desolate mountain village, she had never been to school and naturally couldn’t read.

So thoughts lingered in her mind for a mont but quickly faded with the onset of drowsiness.

A few days later, it snowed.

The world was blanketed in pristine white snow.

Purple Sumrs gazed out at the vast world outside the window, wondering how long she had been away. She thought about whether Alexander Sumrs was beside himself with worry and also how long it would be before she could go ho.

Amid the fluttering snowflakes, a few figures appeared faintly in the distance, walking towards the house.

Purple Sumrs was slightly startled.

Considering the secluded location of the house and the absence of nearby neighbors, she’d never seen anyone approaching this way during her stay.

As the figures drew nearer, Purple Sumrs saw that two of them were wearing police uniforms.

Her heart pounded fiercely.
