Chapter 1174: Chapter 1174: Searching Ah_1
But searching for her now was like looking for a needle in a haystack!
In the hospital, with a hostage situation and an explosion, the police were blocking the passages upstairs while patients and their relatives were running around in panic downstairs!
Where could Purple Sumrs be?
Maybe in the chaos she had gone to the wrong floor, or maybe she had been taken away for ergency treatnt because she was unwell, or maybe… maybe she had already been abducted!
No one expected Purple Sumrs to beco a target.
Alexander Sumrs didn’t expect it, nor did Purple Sumrs.
Last ti, with the Black Rose serial murder case spinning around, the killer had gone straight for Alexander Sumrs in the end. And now, just after Purple Sumrs had given birth, there were no easier targets than those two newborn infants.
All it would take was to get those babies in his hands, and he could blackmail not only Purple Sumrs but also Alexander Sumrs!
But the children were fine.
The children were sleeping safely in their incubators, while Purple Sumrs was nowhere to be found.
…
When Purple Sumrs’s consciousness slightly cleared, she realized her surroundings were constantly shaking.
She was in a vehicle.
She vaguely heard talking by her ear—it was that nurse, chuckling crisply with a soft, tender warmth, “Such a long convoy, is the president coming by? What a coincidence.”
The man driving in front calmly said, “He must have heard news of her giving birth and thus ca to see her.”
“Ha… Well, won’t he get a fright when he arrives at the hospital? With so many people, it’s quite lively,” the nurse said with schadenfreude before asking, “Are we going out of the city now?”
“The exits to leave Beijing are probably on lockdown now, no rush. We’ll change cars at the next junction and lay low for a while,” the man’s voice remained cold and calm.
Purple Sumrs recognized this as Nathaniel Sumrs’s voice.
She thought, was Nathaniel still not willing to let her go… Last ti, he tried to drown her in the bathtub, what was he planning to do this ti?
She worked hard to think, to stay awake, but her consciousness was like mud, heavy and painful.
And she thought of how it had been less than eight hours since she had given birth to her children, and she hadn’t even had a good look at them…
The car stopped. She did not know where they had driven to, but it felt unusually quiet around.
Then the car door opened, and soone picked her up and placed her into another vehicle.
It was an SUV, with a spacious back seat. The seat had been laid flat, and she lay atop it completely. With a slight move, she brushed against a soft body.
Purple Sumrs strained to open her eyes, and within reach, she saw a young and familiar face.
—It was the little girl who had jumped out of her car last ti.
The little girl’s eyes were tightly shut, seemingly unconscious.
The nurse got into the car and, seeing Purple Sumrs open her eyes, laughed lightly, “Awake already? Don’t be scared, we’ll be ho soon.”
With that, she gently touched Purple Sumrs’s forehead.
Purple Sumrs wanted to turn her head away, but the effects of the sedation hadn’t worn off yet. She had no strength in her body, not even enough to speak. Her stomach roiled, making her want to vomit.
She still couldn’t understand how Nathaniel, as a fugitive, managed to bribe a nurse in the hospital—moreover, a nurse who just happened to be on duty that day.
The vehicle started moving again. Nathaniel, sitting in the front, kept driving without saying a word to Purple Sumrs. The nurse, however, couldn’t stop talking, evidently very excited.
“I’m pretty smart, aren’t I? Even with all those police and bodyguards outside, I still caught you! I just said, ‘Ladies first,’ and the bodyguard actually didn’t enter the elevator, ha ha so funny…”
“Checking the surveillance won’t help either. This city is full of blind spots, just change the car and they’ll lose their target, so stupid!”
She grew more smug as she continued, “I, all by myself, caught the president’s daughter. I’m so clever!”
Perhaps annoyed by her chatter, Nathaniel called from the front, “Cherry.”
The nurse shut up, smiled sweetly, and leaned close to Purple Sumrs’ ear, whispering softly, “I was right last ti, wasn’t I? The one in your belly, it’s a boy.”
Purple Sumrs’s heart lurched as she finally understood…
