Chapter 1155: Chapter 1155 Never Get Enough of Playing_1
Nathaniel Sumrs looked at Cherry, “Stop making trouble.”
“I’m not,” she said with a bright smile.
Nathaniel Sumrs remained silent.
A mont later, he sat down by the bed, lit a cigarette for himself, inhaled to his lungs, and exhaled a thin, swirling mist.
She crawled over, clinging to his shoulder, her hand trying to grasp the smoke in the air, amusing herself with a touch of boredom.
“Last ti you slipped up, Alexander Sumrs won’t be unprepared.” After a long while, Nathaniel Sumrs spoke, “You are very smart, but people are not as easy to deal with as you think, and if sothing goes wrong again, you may not get off scot-free.”
Flicking off the ash, Nathaniel Sumrs said, “When you’ve had enough fun, I’ll take you back to the village.”
The hand on his shoulder suddenly tightened, the nails digging deep into his flesh.
Nathaniel Sumrs frowned slightly and glanced down, but said nothing.
“I’ve not had enough fun, I’ll never have enough fun!” The little girl’s eyes were dark and fierce as she spoke.
Yet Nathaniel Sumrs smiled gently, pulling her hand away, and then patted her head, “But I can no longer afford to keep you, Cherry.”
Ghosts are too greedy; they only want more and more.
Raising a ghost was ant to facilitate one’s own affairs, but now, with the direction skewed, Nathaniel Sumrs could no longer ta it.
He got up and left, closing the door behind him.
The little girl on the bed watched the door silently, surrounded by a profound silence. After a long while, she murmured to herself, “I can take care of you… ”
…
The next morning, Nathaniel Sumrs awoke.
Upon opening his eyes, he did not imdiately get out of bed but lay there quietly looking at the ceiling, pondering the day ahead and when it would all end.
… Utterly tasteless.
As usual, he got up, dressed, washed up, and passed by Cherry’s room on his way downstairs; the door was wide open.
Nathaniel Sumrs took a look.
Slippers scattered here and there, the blankets piled in disarray, no one on the bed.
Nathaniel Sumrs walked in, stood in the empty room for a long while, in silence.
“Acting up again,” he said softly, almost like a sigh, “When will you ever learn… ”
After so thought, still unable to set his mind at ease, Nathaniel Sumrs sighed softly, packed his bags, and prepared to leave.
He dragged his leather suitcase, walking slowly out of the front gate.
The security guards and servants of the Sumrs Family had all been replaced, and the security guard didn’t recognize him, mistaking him for the second young lady’s friend, unconcerned.
He had barely taken ten steps away from the Sumrs household when hurried footsteps sounded from behind.
Nathaniel Sumrs stopped and turned to see Laura Sumrs rushing towards him.
Laura Sumrs ran up to him, too hurried to catch her breath, and asked, “… Uncle, where are you going?”
Nathaniel Sumrs raised his eyebrows slightly, watching her quietly.
Laura Sumrs pursed her lips. Where was Nathaniel Sumrs going, and why would he tell her?
Not willing to give up, she asked again, “Will you co back?”
Nathaniel Sumrs smiled, “That wouldn’t be appropriate, would it?”
He was a fugitive. Staying in the Sumrs house, if his whereabouts were exposed, would endanger Laura Sumrs and Yolanda Sumrs.
Besides, he never intended to consider the Sumrs Family his permanent residence.
Laura Sumrs’s eyes reddened, knowing that Nathaniel Sumrs couldn’t stay forever, but his presence even for one more day made the house seem like it wasn’t completely falling apart.
“How could it have co to this?” Laura Sumrs murmured, “Why has our family beco like this…”
“Indeed,” Nathaniel Sumrs looked up at the high walls of the expansive house, his smile faint, “Unknowingly, it has co to this.”
The influential Sumrs Family of Clearwater had weathered many changes over the past decade, and now only two young won struggled to keep it afloat.
Nathaniel Sumrs looked down, his gaze landing on Laura Sumrs in front of him. In just three years, she had changed dramatically, from a willful and spoiled young lady to a director in the company who could stand on her own…
“If things get too tough at the company, find a good man and get married soon,” Nathaniel Sumrs said to her, then, carrying his suitcase, he walked away.
Despite not saying anything overly sentintal, Laura Sumrs felt a piercing sadness.
She really wanted to cry.
