Victoria Morrison’s words clearly weren’t because she believed in Norton Young’s character and thus trusted that he hadn’t committed a cri.
Rather, she felt that, with Norton Young’s personality, should he commit a cri, he would likely be a cautious criminal as opposed to an impulsive one.
“The police said that before the incident, the victim had insulted Norton Young on the subway, and it’s possible that Norton Young harbored a grudge and followed her to seek revenge. If we testify on his behalf from a character standpoint, the prosecution may counter us with the argunt that psychological repression led to a loss of control.”
After thinking for a mont, Victoria Morrison sat down next to Purple Sumrs and asked, “And the victim? What kind of person was she?”
“23 years old, Bridget Stone, an extra at a theater troupe. She was heading ho after a rehearsal late at night and happened to take the sa subway train as Norton Young.”
Purple Sumrs handed the information to Victoria Morrison for her to see. She was happy to have another person willing to help Norton Young.
“The subway was very crowded, and Bridget Stone had physical contact with Norton Young. She called him a pervert on the subway, accusing him of sexual harassnt and uttered many insulting words. She also threatened to call the police if he dared to touch her again. After getting off at the sa station, Bridget Stone was raped a few hundred ters away from her ho in an alley.”
Purple Sumrs sighed and said, “Afterwards, the perpetrator fled, and Bridget Stone called the police, identifying Norton Young as the one who did it.”
“Have you had any contact with this victim?” Asked Victoria Morrison.
Purple Sumrs shook her head, “I’ve made phone calls, but haven’t t in person. As the defendant’s lawyer, having too much contact with the victim is a breach of the rules; she could accuse of harassnt.”
Victoria Morrison nodded knowingly, “Is her testimony credible? What was the environnt where the cri happened like? How was the lighting, and were there any obstructions or anything like that?”
“There was a streetlight twenty ters away.” Purple Sumrs paused, then continued, “I think there’s a high chance the offender frad him. Bridget Stone had a quarrel with Norton Young, which is why she rembered him well. It’s not impossible she mistook soone with a similar build for him.”
Victoria Morrison understood, “So, you have no strong evidence on your side and that’s why you want to find a character witness.”
Purple Sumrs smiled faintly, “We can’t just sit and wait.”
Victoria Morrison fell silent.
After a while, she said, “Actually, you didn’t have to take this case. It might have been better suited for soone else.”
“I took the call after Norton Young got into trouble…” Purple Sumrs said.
Victoria Morrison interrupted her, “Maybe he’s just using you. Don’t tell you actually consider him a friend? To be honest, do you really see Norton Young as a friend?”
The question was quite blunt.
Purple Sumrs pursed her lips, “No…”
It was a cruel-sounding answer, but to Purple Sumrs, the first condition for friendship was compatibility of aura.
Just like with Aria Jackson, Zara Jason, Jane McCain, Marcel, and Allen Rivera, she felt comfortable and unrestrained when with them.
But with Norton Young, they were nothing more than acquaintances with a familiar relationship.
Acquaintances, not friends.

“But I really dislike such scheming,” Victoria Morrison spoke earnestly, “As a student of the Judicial Training Institute, one should be open and direct about the pros and cons, not engage in trickery. Honestly, I think he’s not putting his efforts into the right path.”
