Chapter 1060: Chapter 1060 The Lingering Spirit_1 Chapter 1060: Chapter 1060 The Lingering Spirit_1 Purple Sumrs left the office and walked alone across the campus, surrounded by students coming and going.

Occasionally, so would notice her and whisper to their companions.

Purple Sumrs and Alexander Sumrs were now the notorious evil couple, with few not recognizing them. Because of her status and the bodyguard by her side, no one dared to confront her directly; however, the unusual stares were as constant as shadows, and the pressure was unrelenting.

She controlled herself, trying not to look at the verbal abuse online.

Within the corporation, there were dedicated internet public opinion monitors who kept an eye on online activity around the clock; any new developnts were imdiately reported to the leadership.

Even so, it was still a tornt for her.

Not just because of being insulted, as Purple like she had said, what’s most unbearable was the doubt about herself. Once it took hold, the pain was overwhelming.

Oscar Smith really died, and his daughter indeed lost her father. Did the casino not bear any responsibility for this? Did Alexander Sumrs truly have no responsibility for Oscar Smith’s death?

She couldn’t dwell on it deeply.

She didn’t dare to dwell on it deeply.

After getting her school report, Purple didn’t go ho but headed to the largest library in the research institute.

She received a call from Alexander Sumrs on the way.

“Did you get the school report?”

“Yeah,” Purple spoke as she walked, “My dad has arranged to et with a few top lawyers tomorrow to discuss strategies. The day after tomorrow I’ll head back to Pearlpoint.”

On the other end of the phone, Alexander was silent for a while before saying, “Purple, you really don’t need to appear in court. Just act completely unaware, and I’ll arrange for other lawyers to take over this matter.”

Purple’s steps faltered, her fingers clenching the phone until her knuckles turned white.

“That’s not going to happen,” she said slowly, taking a breath, “I know what you’re planning. You want to keep out of it, right? If that’s the case, you might as well just divorce !”

That was an old trick. When so corrupt officials fell from power, they would clear their wives and children from any connection, leaving them spotless. In any case, the family knew nothing about the cri, and any evidence would be shouldered by the mistress.

Alexander wasn’t a corrupt official, but he wanted to protect Purple’s reputation.

If it were suggested that Purple was unaware of the situation and that because of this incident she was in a cold war with Alexander, public opinion would lean towards Purple, viewing her as a victim deceived in both body and heart by a scoundrel, who also ruined her reputation.

It was a plausible narrative, especially since there had been news before ntioning that Alexander hid his identity when he pursued Purple, suggesting deception.

However, Alexander had never considered divorce.

His voice grew deeper, as if grinding his molars. “Purple, are you trying to goad ?”

“This isn’t goading; this is a threat,” said Purple. “Either let appear in court or let’s divorce. You choose!”

With that, she hung up the phone.

Alexander, hearing the tone of a disconnected call, paused for a mont, his expression turning complex.

She really had beco too spoiled, daring to hang up on him…

Zack Wallace watched his expression cautiously, asking, “Boss, are we still releasing the statent?”

The news release pretending that the couple’s love had fallen into a cold war was already prepared, awaiting the right mont to be published.

Alexander frowned and shook his head: “Don’t release it.”

Zack grinned and said, “I also think it’s good not to release it. It’s ti people knew that you and your wife are united, standing together through thick and thin!”

“Enough with the flattery,” Alexander said impatiently. “How’s the investigation I asked for coming along?”

Zack imdiately straightened up, replying seriously, “They’ve found sothing. There’s indeed a new confidant around Jeremy Jennings lately, allegedly a practitioner of the occult nad Nath Sumrs.”

Nath Sumrs, Nathaniel Sumrs.

Alexander raised an eyebrow and muttered, “Like a ghost that won’t go away.”
