Chapter 1009: Chapter 1009: Turning the Tables_1 Chapter 1009: Chapter 1009: Turning the Tables_1 Purple Sumrs finished questioning and sat down expressionless.

Ian Conner’s heart pounded erratically, with sound effects like those from an arcade ga popping into his head: K·O!

He cautiously observed the jury mbers’ expressions, sensing the scales of justice tilting ever so slightly in his favor. What he needed to do now was to tip the balance even more his way!

Hold steady, whether I get on TV or not depends on this!

Ian Conner ntally cheered himself on.

“Your Honor, please allow my witness to testify,” Purple Sumrs stood up and said, flipping through her docunts thodically as she went through the procedure.

From Ian Conner’s angle, he could see her profile clearly: her rosy cheeks had a hint of youthfulness, yet her deanor was calm and composed, her presence solid as a rock.

He couldn’t help sneering internally: She’s not human…

At that mont, a very elegantly dressed man took the witness stand. His beard was trimd exquisitely, giving him a handso appearance reminiscent of a fashion model from the glossy pages of a magazine, exuding the charm of a mature man.

“Please introduce yourself to the jury,” Purple Sumrs said.

“My last na is Parker, and I currently work as a designer for a fashion magazine in the United Kingdom.”

“What is Mr. Parker’s relationship with my client?” Purple Sumrs asked.

“We were once lovers,” the man glanced at Jane McCain, his eyes carrying a faint concern, “We dated for about half a year; it was an amicable breakup, and afterwards, I went abroad.”

“My client has been accused of murder by the prosecution. What are your thoughts on this?” Purple Sumrs inquired.

“I’ve seen the news reports; it’s impossible,” the man chuckled, “Janie is very timid, and she was dating at the ti, so there’s no way she could have taken an interest in that model called Philly.”

“Why are you so sure?” Purple Sumrs asked.

“Janie has so daddy issues, perhaps due to her parents’ divorce. She prefers older n. I’ve seen the pictures of the two victims in the news,” the man shrugged, “Although it might sound impolite to say so, they are definitely not Janie’s type.”

“I rember Jane McCain described Philly’s brother in her story,” Purple Sumrs picked up the transcript of the testimony and read it word by word, “Philly’s brother is more handso, taller, and more mature than Philly.”

Marcel Jefferson handed out a stack of photos to the jury mbers.

The man in the photos was Philly’s brother, Kyle Matthew.

He indeed looked handso but had nothing to do with being tall and mature; instead, he appeared slim and frail, with an air of delicate youthfulness.

The mbers of the jury all furrowed their brows, confusion evident in their eyes.

Purple Sumrs smiled, “Ladies and gentlen, this is the tall, mature brother of Philly that my client described. I believe you all should have your answer now.”

Purple Sumrs sat down.

Ian Conner quickly stood up: “Mr. Parker, why did you travel all the way back from abroad to testify? Since you have already broken up, you should have no contact anymore.”

“Jane McCain’s mother called .”

“Do you have any business contact with Mrs. Spencer in your work? Any collaboration?” Ian Conner pressed on.

The man frowned slightly, “Yes, Mrs. Spencer is one of the clients of our company.”

“So, may I interpret it this way?” Ian Conner asked, “If you give testimony against Jane McCain, your company could lose a very important client?”

“Objection!” Purple Sumrs said coldly, “The opposition is questioning the integrity of our witness.”

“Your Honor, the witness and the defendant have an obvious conflict of interest, and I believe it’s only right that the jury is fully inford,” Ian Conner argued.

The judge pondered for a mont before saying: “Objection overruled.”

Purple Sumrs’s complexion darkened.

Ian Conner continued his line of questioning: “Witness, please answer! If you make testimony detrintal to the defendant, could your company lose Mrs. Spencer as a client?”

The man hesitated, then replied, “It’s possible.”

Having turned the tables, Ian Conner breathed a sigh of relief, “Thank you, I have no further questions.”
