When it ca to arrogance, Kenny Lin never lost to anyone.

Zhar’khaen was so enraged that he laughed. "A year and a half to reach Deity Transformation? You think it’s as easy as picking cabbages?"

Amalia, who had initially wanted to stop Kenny Lin, suddenly cald down upon hearing this.

"Just because you can’t do it doesn’t an others can’t," Kenny Lin declared with supre arrogance.

"Fine, I’ll give you a year and a half. Right here in Silent Echo Valley. If you don’t reach the Deity Transformation stage by then, I’ll devour you whole," Zhar’khaen, driven by the provocation, had already lost his sense of reason.

Gor’kan always worried about Zhar’khaen’s impulsive nature, and now it had happened again.

"As if I’d be afraid of you," Kenny Lin sneered.

Zhar’khaen paused for a mont, "Wait, wasn’t I talking about my kin just now? How did this conversation suddenly beco about you?"

He finally snapped back to reality, and his murderous gaze imdiately shifted toward Amalia.

"You’re not trying to back out, are you?" Kenny Lin stepped in front of Amalia, eting Zhar’khaen’s hostile stare without fear.

Being questioned about his integrity, Zhar’khaen was about to lose his temper but suddenly cald down. He glanced at Kenny Lin, then looked over at Amalia behind him, narrowing his eyes.

"I, Zhar’khaen, always keep my word. Since I promised you a year and a half to live, I will honor that promise. But I never promised anything to her."

"Touch her, and you’re touching ," Kenny Lin’s arrogance vanished in an instant, replaced by a cold and severe expression. A terrifying pressure began to radiate from him.

This pressure had nothing to do with his cultivation level—it was the bearing of soone born to lead, an innate authority that couldn’t be learned just by increasing one’s power.

Zhar’khaen let out a surprised sound, noticing this strange shift in Kenny Lin. This human was only at the Nascent Soul stage, yet he possessed the aura of a king.

"Don’t think just because of my promise, I won’t dare to kill you," Zhar’khaen sneered, quickly shaking off his surprise. So what if Kenny Lin had the potential of a ruler? Without life, potential ant nothing.

"You want to kill to free your kin, don’t you?" Amalia pushed Kenny Lin aside. She wasn’t soone who would hide behind a man.

Zhar’khaen wasn’t afraid of her figuring out his plan. "And what if you’ve guessed it?"

When the contract holder dies, the bond between the demonic beast and the human is broken—unless it’s an equal contract. In that case, if either side dies, the other would suffer damage as well.

Zhar’khaen wasn’t worried about their bond being an equal contract. He believed that humans were too greedy to allow a demonic beast to be their equal. As long as Amalia died, he was certain his kin would be freed.

Even now, he refused to believe that his kin had willingly bonded with this human. He preferred to think they had been forced into it.

"It seems you care deeply about your kin," Amalia said, feeling more at ease. Handing Wealth over to them shouldn’t be an issue.

Zhar’khaen frowned. What was this human’s tone supposed to an? She sounded as if she were an elder of the Pixiu race, speaking with relief. Could it be that she was insulting the Pixiu in so twisted way? The more he thought about it, the more convinced he beca, and his expression darkened even further.

Amalia had no idea that the adult Pixiu in front of her had such a complex mind. She only noticed that he suddenly seed upset again, and she shook her head inwardly. Adult Pixiu were really hard to please.

"Whether or not I care about my kin is none of your concern," Zhar’khaen said with a sinister grin, his power stirring restlessly within him.

Kenny Lin imdiately sensed the shift and stepped in front of Amalia once more.

"Whatever questions you have, maybe you can ask the Beast God when you’re dead. After all, once I kill you, my kin will be freed. You can only bla yourselves for bonding with a Pixiu instead of any other beast."

As soon as Zhar’khaen finished speaking, his figure vanished from where he stood.

Amalia had just been about to explain, but her face imdiately changed.

At that mont, Wealth, sensing the murderous intent of his kin, struggled to poke his head out of Amalia’s arms, letting out a weak whimper.

Kenny Lin, who was about to unleash a powerful strike, noticed that the sharp killing intent had suddenly vanished, replaced by the sound of a loud crash.

The nearby towering tree that was nearly 100 ters tall and piercing the sky, had been shattered into splinters. The fragnts fell like snowflakes, landing on Zhar’khaen’s shocked face. His eyes were vacant as he stared, dumbfounded, at Wealth in Amalia’s arms.

Kenny Lin saw that Zhar’khaen was stunned, but his sword swing couldn’t be stopped in ti. He adjusted the blade’s angle, sending Zhar’khaen flying. Zhar’khaen crashed into another massive tree, splitting it cleanly in half.

Amalia couldn’t help but glance at Kenny. Was he doing that on purpose? Isn’t he worried about angering Zhar’khaen?

But Zhar’khaen wasn’t angry. He sat on the ground, still in a daze, his expression frozen in shock, as though he’d been petrified.

"This guy’s an idiot," Kenny Lin remarked coldly, sheathing his sword with no hint of sha at having struck soone distracted.

"Idiot might be going too far," Amalia added, "maybe just a strange way of thinking." She then said, "I’ll go check on him."

Kenny Lin blocked her, "Don’t go near him. Who knows if he has rabies?"

Amalia shot him a look. "...Pixiu are descendants of the Beast God."

Sure, they might look a bit like dogs, but rabies? Get a grip, she thought.

As they spoke, Zhar’khaen finally snapped out of his stupor and vanished once more, reappearing right in front of them. He had ant to rush toward Amalia and take a closer look at Wealth, but Kenny Lin quickly blocked his path.
