"If money could bring Marcus back, I’d buy it from you!" Canadane Zhao said each word deliberately while glaring coldly at Regis Yoder.
Regis Yoder’s breath hitched, his face still pale with anger.
He turned his head to Alus Restor and President Muraga and said, "If Klaus Lin feels sothing is wrong, let him investigate it himself. My Yoder family will not accompany him on his madness."
"The Rodriguez family won’t accompany him either," said the Rodriguez family’s top-tier spiritual cultivator imdiately.
Investigating the secrets of the seabed required venturing there, a place fraught with danger.
Even they had to tread carefully.
Compared to the number of top-tier human spiritual cultivators, there weren’t as many as the high-level mutated creatures of the seabed.
The Yoder and Rodriguez families’s intention to sit back and enjoy the fruits of others’s labor was blatantly clear.
"In that case, if this investigation yields any benefits, shouldn’t certain people get a smaller share?" Cecil Harvey said while rubbing his chin.
"Why should we? In the end, it will still require our efforts!"
Regis Yoder responded instinctively.
The Yoder family would never fall behind others when there were profits to be made.
Regardless of the outco, Regis Yoder couldn’t make definitive statents.
If there really was a treasure in the seabed, he would deeply regret agreeing to a smaller share later.
"You talk as if your Yoder family has contributed significantly. During the incident in Fruit City No. 2, where was your Yoder family’s effort? Isn’t dropping the ball at critical monts your family’s specialty?" Canadane Zhao mocked.
"Enough quarreling. We’ll do as General Harvey suggested. Since the Zhao and Lin families believe there’s an issue, they will the one who investigate it. But..." Alus Restor’s tone shifted, his gaze turning cold, "the premise is that you must provide proof. Otherwise, the responsibilities must still be shouldered."
"Mr. Zhao, do you need to discuss this with Mr. Lin?" President Muraga asked with a smile.
"No need. I understand Klaus Lin very well; he will certainly agree," Canadane Zhao replied indifferently.
Their two families had a heritage spanning countless years.
Outwardly, they were willing to giving face the governnt, but so matters were not rely decided by face value.
Even if the governnt ultimately disagreed, Klaus Lin would find a way to investigate it.
Alus Restor knew this, which is why he agreed not to pursue further bla.
...
"The situation is like this. From now on, we can only rely on ourselves," Canadane Zhao said as he ca over to find Klaus Lin right after the eting ended.
Seeing Kenny Lin and the others present, he wasn’t surprised at all.
"That’s exactly what I thought. I don’t trust them with this," Klaus Lin expected this and didn’t show any anger as predicted.
Klaus Lin continued, "Don’t bla Alus Restor either. He has his own considerations. This failed raid puts him in a position where he has to explain to others. Those old fogies are a real pain. Only Alus Restor can put up with them. If it were , I’d have smashed their heads with a hamr long ago."
Although they had recently united with the Elders Council to deal with the Yoder family, that alliance was only temporary.
The relationship between the Elders Council and the major families was always complicated and ambiguous.
As soon as there were conflicts of interest, the other side would turn hostile faster than flipping a page.
So generally, the major families avoided dealing with them directly whenever possible.
Amalia had no concept of the relationships at the top.
She thought the two major families and the Elders Council were allies after they had collectively dealt with the Yoder family last ti.
"Dad, let go on this investigation," Albert Lin said after they finished speaking.
Mr. Lin was not surprised but still shook his head, "You can’t go. Your safety is crucial to the military’s stability. If sothing happens to you, the balance in the military will be disrupted. Humanity hasn’t even figured out how to deal with the mutated creatures in the sea, and we’d start infighting first."
"Second Brother definitely can’t go. I’ll go. It won’t make a difference whether I’m there or not," Tony Lin imdiately stood up.
Mr. Lin was considering sending the third son, but...
"You can’t go either. You’re not strong enough."
"Dad, I’m at least a Tier 1 spiritual cultivator. Why can’t I go? And please, stop saying ’can’t,’ it always makes think negatively. I want to prove myself."
After a few seconds of seriousness, Tony Lin began to joke.
Mr. Lin glanced at him calmly, "Do you need to draw the curtains so you can prove yourself in public?"
Tony Lin started coughing violently, choking on his own saliva.
He looked at his father in disbelief, "Dad, since when did you beco so shaless?"
"I specialize in dealing with shaless people," Mr. Lin snorted coldly.
The most uncomfortable person here was Canadane Zhao.
Seeing the father and son about to start arguing, he quickly cleared his throat and interrupted, "Klaus Lin, I’ll send soone from my side. You decide who is from yours. Once you’ve made up your mind, let know. I’ll take my leave now."
If he stayed any longer, who knows how much more shaless banter he’d have to listen to.
He never expected that the mbers of the Lin family would interact this way in private.
The father didn’t act like a father, and the son didn’t act like a son.
"I’ll go. The matter is settled," Kenny Lin said, retracting his gaze.
His cold voice put an end to the argunt, and the room instantly fell silent.
After a while, Mr. Lin sighed and said, "This is not a joke. All those previous matters were just your father’s speculations. Until we have confird facts, that place is like a ticking ti bomb, ready to go off at any mont."
"If you go and don’t return, how am I supposed to live? Please consider your old father’s feelings. I can’t take much more turmoil."
