Chapter 616: Chapter 517: The Little Cub Breaking Free of Shackles Gradually Displays Genetic Advantages

A month passed by in the blink of an eye.

As November ca, the temperature on Jiamu Gully Mountain dropped day by day.

The short-haired big cats didn’t like going out at night; they only moved their bodies after the sun ca out in the morning. If they were hungry, they would go out and hunt for food themselves. If not, basking in the sun on various platforms was the happiest thing.

The little cub’s condition was much better than expected. After weighing and blood tests for basic check-up, Chen Ying announced that the surgery could proceed.

The surgical plan had been perfected two or three tis, with no room for further improvent. The rest would be up to the operating doctor to adapt as needed.

While preparing for the surgery, the post-operative care team held etings, rehearsing scenarios on paper to ensure they remained composed and unflustered in case of ergencies.

The little cub was sent off on November 11th. Before leaving, he gave all the jerky he had hidden to Xii.

Xii didn’t know what the little cub was going for, but she was a smart little sister cub. She might have sensed sothing from the restless emotions and serious expressions of the beasts at the ergency station.

“When will you co back? My mom said she’ll take us to a new place soon because it’s too cold on the mountain. If you co back early, join us.”

The little cub obediently lay there, its long tail hanging behind.

“I don’t know. Mom said if all goes well, I’ll grow up well.”

Xii looked at the little cub seriously for a mont, “Co with , I’ll give you sothing.”

Xii led the little cub jumping off the wooden platform, heading to the northeast side of the tree at the ergency station animal shed, a favorite spot for the little ones to explore.

Using her two front paws, Xii dug for a while and unearthed a baby tooth, the size of a grain of rice.

If not for her scent on it, it would have been incredibly difficult to find this fallen baby tooth in a mix of rocks and soil.

“Take it with you; it has my scent on it. You can use it to find later.”

The little cub had never received a special gift from other friends before. Overjoyed, yet a bit troubled.

Such a small tooth, how could he carry it back and keep it from falling?

The little cub was a clever little one. Undeterred by the earth’s wrapping, he licked the baby tooth into his mouth, then went to find the two-legged beast.

His mom had told him many tis, when uncertain, seek the two-legged beast!

Not only his mom, but also two aunties, uncles, and older brothers said so.

Chen Ying, who was packing up to move the little cub down to the shelter, found his pants being tugged. Then a handful of mixed dirt, leaves, and saliva rubbish was stuffed into his hand…

After the little cub explained, he found Xii’s baby tooth among that rubbish.

Such a tiny item, obviously couldn’t be pierced for the little cub to wear. Thinking for a mont, he took out a n’s necklace from his room, with a hollow cylindrical pendant that fit the little brain tiger’s baby tooth.

He also found a woven strap for jewelry, replaced the necklace, and tied it around the little cub’s neck.

The cylinder had hollow patterns, and if sniffed closely, Xii’s scent on the baby tooth could be detected,

though humans could only see it, not sll any scent.

With the tiger tooth necklace on, the little cub contentedly ran back to find Xii, letting her sniff the necklace on his neck.

“Ooh, take this with you, then you can find .”

Next morning, before dawn, Chen Ying put the little cub into a cage. Four forest patrol team mbers took turns carrying him out.

The transport vehicle was already waiting by the roadside, ready to depart as soon as the little cub arrived.

Er Niu stood on the third-floor balcony, looking out, but through the dense tree shadows, couldn’t see where the little cub went.

After sunrise, Er Niu went downstairs to find Chen Ying.

“I’m going back to the mountain first. I’ll wait for you to bring him back to find .”

Chen Ying crouched halfway, hugging Er Niu’s neck.

“Rest assured, I’ll bring back a healthy, intact child.”

This goodbye ant not seeing each other for at least three months.

This year’s cold wave was said to be once in decades, with snow already accumulating on the mountain top. Er Niu’s return ant not coming down until March or April next year.

During this period, perhaps only Jinya, who was not afraid of the cold and snow, could visit her.

After lingering with Er Niu for more than ten minutes, Chen Ying stood up and left.

Jinya and Leopard Sister guarded beside Er Niu, one on each side, until Chen Ying was completely out of view. Only then did they turn towards the mountains.

Four days after the little cub left, Jiamu Gully was struck by a rare heavy snow.

This snow fell continuously for three whole days, with flakes so dense they made it hard to keep one’s eyes open, enveloping the whole mountain forest in white mist.

When the snow finally stopped, the entire Jiamu Gully area was covered with thick snow, with more than a dozen centiters accumulated in the forest around the ergency station.

The branches of trees were drooping under the snow’s weight. Occasionally, a few slightly larger birds flew by, shaking off a flurry of snow dust, adding a bit of life to the silent snowy landscape.

With the mountain sealed by snow, Brother Leopard and Leopard Sister’s activity range was greatly reduced. Except for necessary patrol duties, they almost didn’t venture out.

Leopard Sister sotis stood high on the wooden fra, gazing at the distant white-capped mountains, her eyes showing a hint of worry for Er Niu.

Brother Leopard usually lay on the platform outside the animal shed, squinting for a nap, exuding an aura of laziness.

Fatty and Xii, the two little tiger cubs, didn’t play in the heavy snow as they usually did. Knowing this weather wasn’t suitable for outings, they stayed obediently by their mother’s side. Occasionally they had a playful tussle in the cave, but soon quieted down, cuddling together for warmth.
