But there’s indeed a big problem.
First of all, those golden cats are not pure wild animals. They have already adapted to captivity and artificial feeding. Bringing them into the wild, whether or not they’ll unleash their instincts is uncertain, but they’ll definitely feel scared.
Moreover, the place to build the animal shed must have a water source and enough facilities for sewage treatnt and disinfection.
The ergency station is not as strict because most of the animals there are temporary residents. They’ll be transferred to the animal shed area of the protection station for further treatnt after surgery.
The animal sheds of the protection station had these issues considered during the initial design.
As for Jinya and them, the mountains and forests are so vast; everywhere could serve as their litter box, so Chen Ying doesn’t need to worry about this issue.
After a few days of brainstorming and extensive communication with Yin Li and colleagues from the Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau Wild Protection Departnt who are responsible for supervising this matter, the location was tentatively fixed next to the stone beach area downstream of Old Bear Gully.
The woods there are sparse, providing plenty of open space, and water sources are relatively convenient. Most importantly, it’s Big Gold’s territory, and on the opposite side of the river is a new, young, and strong golden cat.
The design and construction are handled by a professional engineering team, and Chen Ying only needs to provide technical support later on.
Since the construction of cages outside the usual location requires the addition of so inspection equipnt, we definitely can’t run to the ergency station for every little issue that arises.
As for managing and caring for the cages, staffing issues are easily solved.
Each of the three zoos provides one person, who will take care of duties in three shifts. Plus, Chen Ying and Little Sen will also co over to help during the day, so the workload isn’t too heavy.
Five golden cats, two males and three females, will first attempt internal breeding. If it fails, external sources will be considered.
"These two male golden cats have entered the mating season, but they almost bit another golden cat to death previously. This ti, we want to teach them normal mating and breeding behavior."
The two males belong to two different zoos, but their conditions are quite similar.
The three females are also from two different zoos, and one was even borrowed from a foreign zoo to promote breeding.
The foreign zoo also sponsored quite a lot to allow their cat to join this matchmaking event.
On the first day of arrival, the two males were fine, but the three females showed mild stress responses.
Chen Ying and Little Sen, along with the other three keepers, took shifts to constantly observe these little elves.
The first day was uneventful, but by the second evening, everyone noticed sothing wrong.
Chen Ying ran out to take a look, and indeed, there were a few guys hiding on the tree, all brought over by Jinya to watch the fun.
Feeling the intense presence of beasts around them, the five golden cats exhibited vigilance, alertness, and anxiety.
Little Jin silently glanced at the cats below and let out a bored yawn.
"ow, Jinya, stop watching. Those guys are ugly. They don’t have any strength. If you throw them in the forest, they won’t survive a night."
Little Jin wasn’t interested, but Jinya expressed her curiosity in seeing the outco of their matchmaking.
At this mont, Pang Jin and Big Gold unexpectedly erged from sowhere, walking over one after the other.
Before, Big Gold seed fat, but standing next to Pang Jin, he now only looked slightly plump.
As for Little Jin, looking at its back, it was only half as thick as Pang Jin’s body!
Big Gold jumped onto a tree, lay down, and glanced at the animal shed below.
To attract wild golden cats, the roof of the animal shed here was made into an automatic closing sky curtain, open during the day and closed at night.
But at night, it didn’t completely cover up, leaving about a third of the area open to let the moonlight shine into the activity yard through the glass do.
The staff quarters are at both ends, with a corridor in the middle separated by iron railings, allowing the golden cats living on both sides to observe their neighbors.
Chen Ying watched from below for a while, seeing that these guys refused to leave, and after thinking about it, he waved directly at Big Gold.
"Big Gold, co over and help out a bit."
Although Big Gold doesn’t stay at the ergency station often, it loves Chen Ying no less than the other animals.
Upon hearing the call, it happily trotted over.
"Co, co with for a walk."
Big Gold looked at Chen Ying with confusion. Tempted by the little quail, it followed Chen Ying for a stroll in the middle corridor.
The five animal sheds are about the sa size, arranged in a U-shape.
Two on each side and one across.
Because of the three females and two males, the sheds are arranged as female-male-female-male-female to maximize the cats’ interactions.
The one directly opposite the main entrance houses the female golden cat sent from a foreign zoo, here for matchmaking.
Big Gold, having learned from Jinya about the origins of these cats, was curious about the foreign cat Jinya ntioned and ran over to take a couple more glances.
Then it noticed this cat didn’t seem very golden cat-like!
That golden cat seed a bit timid, always on guard, shrinking back into the wooden box in the corner. When Big Gold approached, its eyes widened into round orbs, and it instinctively shrank back further.
Big Gold observed it for a while, having no special thoughts towards this highly vigilant female cat.
On the contrary, it found the cat sister at the entrance, on the left, who looked a bit older, quite appealing. Her body looked like she would make a good and nurturing mother!
As it wandered to the door, Big Gold didn’t leave and instead lay down sideways, clutching the rails of that cat sister’s shed and started calling out. As it called, it began rubbing against the railings.
Chen Ying observed and did not stop, only using the intercom to instruct the keeper on duty in the office to make a record.
"Big Gold seems to be interested in this female cat; it’s leaving its scent on the railing. After Big Gold leaves, focus on observing this female cat’s behavior to see if she responds to Big Gold’s scent."
Chen Ying stepped outside, "Also, turn on the outside surveillance caras tonight, there might be a little surprise."
Judging by Big Gold’s usual behavior, by tomorrow at the latest, it would surely bring food to this cat sister.
Big Gold’s sole thod of courting is enthusiastic feeding!
The partners Big Gold wooed before mostly happened because the recipients were won over with gifts of food.
The golden cats in the zoo, accustod to being fed, might not succeed if they had to hunt on their own, so this thod of courtship naturally wasn’t feasible for them.
As Big Gold lingered, unwilling to leave, Chen Ying thought for a mont and waved Pang Jin over.
But that guy simply rolled over sideways, completely ignoring Chen Ying’s call.
Little Jin saw this, sprinted and smashed Pang Jin off the tree with a headbutt.
Frightened by Little Jin’s unexpected push, Pang Jin flew through the air, managing to grab onto a branch during the fall.
Of course, the branch eventually broke under its weight, but it cushioned the fall enough so it wasn’t hurt upon landing.
Though the body was unhard, the heart was deeply hurt: Dad, am I still your little cutie! ┭┮﹏┭┮
Jinya, holding Huihui, laughed so much she nearly lost her footing, almost rolling down together.
On another rock at a distance, Leopard Sister, observing from afar, hugged Brother Leopard, sighed, "Is Jinya really not bothered by this?"
Brother Leopard remained silent, only embracing Leopard Sister’s neck, carefully grooming its fur.
As expected, Leopard Sister is the brains of Jiamu Gully.
It had already seen through Chen Ying’s plan to consider Little Jin as part of the matchmaking targets. Makes sense—Little Jin’s genes are strong; if it were a female golden cat, it would definitely want to have strong babies with Little Jin.
But if Little Jin really had babies with other females, what about its Jinya?
Should they find a good mate for Jinya to have babies too?
Leopard Sister, feeling a bit annoyed, rolled over twice, then stood up and ran out.

That golden cat had a rounded head and smooth fur, ran as agile as the wind, and even with an extra-fat wild rabbit in its mouth, its speed was unaffected.
