Chapter 555: Extra: Confession (Bonus 1 – Request for Monthly Votes)
“Old Gao, does this decoration work? Will it be awkward?”
“Awkward? Not at all. I found the most liked tutorial online, and everyone sets it up this way.”
Chen Ying glanced at him skeptically, but under Old Gao’s firm stare, he sheepishly looked away.
However, what he didn’t see was that Old Gao was also a little nervous.

Old Gao pulled out a note from his pocket, filled with dense writing.
“Step one, choose a unique location for the setup.”
Old Gao glanced around; this place seed nice. Situated between the villa area and an ancient town, there was a small lawn beside the waterfall landscape created by the villa area.
He had negotiated this in advance with the property managent, without telling them it was for a confession, just that he wanted to set up a ceremonial site. They probably guessed sothing, said they’d report to their leader, and an hour later, they agreed directly.
Dian Province has an abundance of flowers, especially callias, which have many varieties and bloom brightly.
Chen Ying, who’s not short on cash, wanted the best varieties and the most vibrant flowers.
Instead of bouquet arrangents, they used potted flowers with soil. After all, Dao ihua is into plant research, so this setup appeals to her tastes.
These flowers could be used to decorate the area around Dao ihua’s house later.
The day was delayed because of looking for a child, and the best ti for the confession was approaching. Chen Ying and Old Gao were so anxious the sweat on their foreheads was about to form streams.
Luckily, the property managent was helpful, arranging for vacationing employees to co and assist. Before starting, Old Gao gave each of them a red envelope.
Their plan was to finish the setup before sunset, then find an excuse to call Dao ihua out as the sun neared the mountain peak, creating a romantic atmosphere with the golden-red sunset glow.
Besides buying the materials these past days, they were revising the confession script word by word in their small group chat.
Initially, Chen Ying didn’t plan on writing a script, but couldn’t resist Old Gao and Little Sen’s persuasion, saying if the atmosphere was set, it needed sweet words to make their efforts worthwhile.

Since open fires were strictly prohibited in the mountains, for safety reasons, string lights adorned the area. When the sun set and the surroundings dimd, the lights would illuminate in a shape that’s said to resemble the currently popular castle design.
Chen Ying expressed skepticism about this part, questioning if Dao ihua, who’s not an ordinary girl, would like this fairytale princess the with castles and stars.
But those guys insisted it had to be right. Especially Yin Li, who even went to pretend consulting so institution to secretly learn.
Now that more than half was done, second-guessing wouldn’t stop them.
Anyway, this confession was sothing Chen Ying would only do once in his lifeti. If it turned embarrassing, so be it. It might beco a sweet mory in old age.
In a rush, they finally completed all the decorations before sunset.
The villa staff understood what was about to happen and were eagerly looking forward to Chen Ying’s confession, not even caring about their vacation anymore.
“Here they co, here they co, Brother Ying, are you ready?”
“Should be, I guess.” Chen Ying was inexplicably nervous, his palms sweaty, instinctively wanting to wipe his hands on his pants, and got an eye-roll from Old Gao, “Hold yourself together!”
Dao ihua was brought out by Professor Bai and his wife.
After returning from the mountain, the wife had her help with so crafts to keep her busy, waiting for the setup to finish. Once done, Professor Bai called them back for dinner, and his wife led Dao ihua to the confession site.
When they arrived and saw the flower decorations, Dao ihua paused, her heart suddenly filled with an inexplicable feeling, quickening her heartbeat and clenching her fingers.
With a knowing smile, the wife gently slipped away from Dao ihua’s arm, jogging back to Professor Bai’s side. The old couple watched hand in hand as Chen Ying confessed to Dao ihua.
String lights gradually lit up from under Dao ihua’s feet.
The tiny light sources ford a sentence: He’s waiting for you up ahead, do you want to et him?
Dao ihua nodded instinctively, hearing soft giggles from an unknown source nearby, her cheeks turning a deep red.
She quickened her pace, following the path of the lights to the arranged spot.
The timing was perfect, the sunset glow casting a golden edge around Chen Ying standing at the center.
At that mont, she could hardly see Chen Ying’s expression clearly.
After a few steps, she stopped, twisting her fingers behind her back, mouth pursed as she looked at the handso young man opposite her.
Chen Ying was internally panicking, slightly tightening his grip on the flower bouquet, giving himself a boost of confidence before stepping towards Dao ihua.
“ihua, I… I like you, will you be my girlfriend?”

“What the—Brother Ying, where’s your little speech?” Old Gao, hiding nearby, whispered urgently for Chen Ying to read from the prepared script.
Chen Ying turned slightly to look in that direction, nervously squeezing the bouquet tighter.
“I had written a lot of things I wanted to say, originally planning to morise and tell you. But just now, when you walked towards , my mind went blank, and I forgot all my little speech. So, would you like to be my girlfriend?”
The bystanders watching for fun couldn’t help but laugh, stifling it with their fists but failing.
Several outgoing girls nearby acted as hype crew, loudly insisting Dao ihua shouldn’t agree until Chen Ying recited his little speech.
Dao ihua suppressed her laughter, tears barely under control, suddenly snatching the bouquet from Chen Ying’s hands to hide her face.
“I-I agree. But the little speech can’t be skipped. You’ll have to recite it to tonight as punishnt.”
Seeing Dao ihua’s action, the bystanders stopped hiding, rushing out to cheer around them.
“Oh, oh, she said yes, she said yes, give her a kiss already.”
“Seal the deal, seal the deal, you understand? What are you waiting for, are you even a man?”
Chen Ying, blushing, pulled Dao ihua into his embrace with the bouquet covering them, sealing the deal with a kiss.
“Woo-hoo, quick, quick, set off the fireworks!”
Old Gao laughed like it was his own wedding, directing people to light the fireworks they’d prepared early.
As the sun set, the light dimd, and after ten minutes of fireworks, Old Gao decided to find them for dinner, but neither were in sight.
He took out his phone to call and check, only for Professor Bai to smack him on the head.
“You party pooper, they just confessed successfully, and you’re barging in? Trying to intrude?”
Old Gao put away his phone, stood silently for a mont, and muttered, “I wouldn’t have helped if I knew, promised brothers stick together, first one to fall in love is a dog. Now I’m the only single dog left!”
