Send the collected information and captured photos and videos to the team group over the past few days.
Chen Ying plans to send the few samples back to the Administration Bureau first, letting the team friends who are still analyzing and researching help process them, and then go to the Observation Station from the Administration Bureau.
"Alright, the two of us will head over first, we need to resupply so materials on the way."
Chen Ying helps them take equipnt from the Administration Bureau, and their material supplies are left for Dai Wang to prepare.
After so hustle, once the entire team gathered in the parking lot outside the Observation Station, it was already half past three in the afternoon.
The Observation Station is a point of observation of the Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey wilderness research base, about five or six kiloters from the base.
Walk to the end of the base’s wooden boardwalk, then traverse through the forest for about half an hour to reach.
The base here carries a promotional function and is open to the public; nearly a hundred Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys reside here permanently.
The outdoor Observation Station was initially built to track and observe the Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys—a cabin resembling the warehouse wooden hut at Jiamu Gully First Aid Station, albeit not as large as the hut.
There were twelve people entering this ti, three stayed behind at the cabin, while the remaining split into two teams to conduct tracking surveys.
Chen Ying chose the team heading to Luquan Grand Canyon, with Dao ihua in the sa team, though her aim was collecting plant samples and identifying plant species.
They spent a night at the small cabin, and the next day, both teams set off simultaneously.
The team heading to Luquan Grand Canyon had five mbers, while the other team had only four.
"Ying Bo, how many tis have you been to Luquan?"
"Fourth ti." Ying Youqi replied while calibrating equipnt, responding to Dai Wang’s question, "I ca once during my undergraduate, stayed here for six months during my master’s, researching Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys. During my first doctorate, I ca with my supervisor for investigation once more, making this my fourth ti and also for my graduation thesis."
Chen Ying helped out nearby, hearing this, he looked up, "Then Ying Bo should be quite familiar with Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys?"
"Sowhat familiar, but compared to the base’s staff, I’m just theoretically stronger; they’re truly familiar as they have watched almost every monkey here grow up over the past fifteen to twenty years."
Ying Bo put down the calibrated equipnt, looking up at Chen Ying.
"Mr. Chen wants to ask about the monkey in the picture you sent yesterday? My teacher and a few teachers here discussed it. It’s probably a Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey. We’ve actually seen this tall monkey several tis, but it is very alert, never willing to approach humans."
The typical lifespan of a Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey in the wild is between 20 to 25 years, and as they age, they would find a quiet corner to silently await death before their life ends.
Because of their relatively long lifespan, Ying Bo and others believe the tall monkey caught by Chen Ying and Dai Wang is the sa one they’ve seen before.
"One of my goals in coming here is to find that large Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey. If I can obtain its biological sample, my graduation thesis is more or less secured."
A unique individual is still an individual, yet it holds research value.
Chen Ying’s focus is on Baihua animals, not particularly interested in peculiar Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey individuals, unless its largeness is a disease that he can treat.
Familiar with the route, Ying Bo quickly led the team to the periphery of Luquan Grand Canyon.
This ti, they will cautiously venture inside, going as far as they safely can.
Upon reaching the destination, Ying Bo first arranged for camp setup, then explored the surrounding environnt. Once they ensured the next safe spot, they’d move there.
Besides him, Dai Wang and another student also targeted Baihua animals, researching the topic "Whether white animals in Shennongjia are related to Baihua disease."
Chen Ying is purely curious, while Dao ihua took the opportunity to conduct her plant research.
Her doctoral thesis is still related to "Tanggu Rhodiola," but she wouldn’t mind researching other rare plants if she gets the chance.
After the camp was set up, Dao ihua and another student stayed behind to guard it, while Ying Bo led Dai Wang and Chen Ying to a mountain path he had explored before.
"Going down this path will officially enter the Grand Canyon. The forks inside are nurous, and with high peaks and steep slopes, a slight mistake and you fall; it’s extrely difficult to climb back up. So, be very cautious during exploration."
Sichuan has a saying, "Unless it’s ninety degrees, anything less is just a slope," yet the slope here is close to ninety degrees.
Chen Ying grabbed a branch and looked below; steep cliffs and deep ravines, falling in is one thing, but the real issue is whether you can keep your life after the fall.
"How about we place two safety ropes here?"
Chen Ying gestured, and he happened to have heavy-duty 550 paracord purchased at a high price, sufficient to make a simple safety rope.
"Not advisable." Ying Bo sighed, "We don’t know whether it’s monkeys or other animals doing it, but several tis when safety ropes were placed here, soon after, we found the ropes were broken."
"Broken? Bit through or worn out?"
"Both, so we can’t determine which animal’s doing it," Ying Bo shrugged. "Due to this, we don’t dare place safety ropes here anymore. If the rope breaks during climbing..."
The probability is small, but not worth betting on. Life offers only one chance; you can’t redo after deletion.
Unless soone stays guarding above all the ti, but the problem is they don’t know how long it will take to co back, can’t let soone stay watching continuously; everyone has their research tasks to complete.
Chen Ying pondered for a bit, feeling like he might have a solution.
"Do you have a solution? What is it?"
"Just wait and see," Chen Ying teased.
Returning to the camp, Chen Ying fiddled mysteriously for a while, then went out for a walk by himself.
At eleven at night, as everyone was about to sleep, abnormal noises ca from the surroundings.
"Oh crap, careful, there’s a bear!"
The White Bear got scared by the sound and retreated a few steps, after glancing around, it ran quickly past a few people to reach Chen Ying at the back, hiding its massive bear body behind Chen Ying.
With small eyes glancing between those guys and the burning cartridge stove, it plunged into Chen Ying’s tent.
"Out, get out! You’re such a big lump, the tent is so small, it will break!"
Originally smiling, Chen Ying’s smile vanished gradually, grabbing a bear leg to pull it out with all his might.
However, compared to the bear, human strength was certain to be insufficient, and after a huge effort, Chen Ying couldn’t get the bear out.
Watching for a while, Dao ihua had an idea, grabbing an apple from her backpack, she sliced it in half with a little knife.
Chen Ying raised an eyebrow, taking half of the apple and biting a piece near the bear’s head, "So sweet, really tasty."
"Ugh~" The White Bear turned, its small eyes lighting up, reaching out to grab, but Chen Ying quickly withdrew from the tent, taking another bite, and deliberately smacked his lips.
The White Bear hesitated, but the sweet fruit ultimately offered more attraction than the tent; it soon wobbled its big rear backward, sitting down pitifully in front of Chen Ying, and patted its belly, making a "ugh ugh" sound.
Dao ihua chuckled and stuffed half an apple into the White Bear’s mouth.
The White Bear glanced at Chen Ying, hugged half an apple, turning sideways to eat, seemingly guarding against Chen Ying snatching its fruit.
"Wow, how co this bear is so docile?"
Dai Wang recognized this White Bear as the sa one that ca before, handing a peeled banana to the White Bear.
Having never eaten this fruit before, the White Bear gave it a try, taking a bite, hey, another delicious stuff.
Devouring the banana in a few bites, it climbed up and hugged Chen Ying’s leg, raising its head, "Ooh ooh ooh," calling several tis.
"Two-legged beast, I want to eat that delicious thing too! More, my friend wants to eat too."
Eh hey, you bear have friends?
The White Bear’s eyes flickered, and it shouted twice toward the woods.
Others couldn’t understand, but Chen Ying did; it clearly shouted, "long hair, co out to eat delicious stuff!"
So, is this long hair the "long hair" he’s thinking of?
