Chapter 321: Chapter 321 A Group of Little Smart Alecks

The undisputed top cat of the area was, without a doubt, Cafeteria Big Cat!

Big Cat could even understand a lot of what the Two-legged beasts said.

Know the village information station? The place where Big Cat usually stayed was the central information station.

“Aoow, are you saying that female Two-legged beast is here to harm my Two-legged beast?”

“What do you an ‘my’ and ‘mine’? They are our Two-legged beasts!”

Although Big Cat rarely interacted with Chen Ying, everybody knew that Dr. Chen was the cat world’s ultimate idol. As a pedigreed cat, didn’t he deserve to own Dr. Chen?

Jinya’s mouth twitched, and considering it was the local cat/information station/gossip monger, he didn’t argue about whom Chen Ying actually belonged to.

Little Jin squatted beside them and tilted his head, “So, Jinya, what do you plan to do?”

They were instructed by Chen Ying repeatedly not to harm the Two-legged beasts. Moreover, as a cute Big cat, how could he do sothing so distasteful?

“I’ve decided, hehe…”

Jinya played coy, took another glance at Big Cat, and then leaned in to whisper in his ear.

“You, why gather so many cats?”

“Just gather. I have a use for them, you guys just watch.”

On the other side, those self-dia people posing as journalists were taken away for education.

The deaf child’s mother also got schooled and was sent back.

However, on her way back, she cursed the whole way, foul and ugly words.

Unbeknownst to her, a few furry ones followed behind her, hiding along the way until they stopped when they reached the outskirts of Pastoral Village.

“ow ow, are you saying we just followed her all this way and that’s it?”

A Desert Cat licked its paw, sowhat displeased.

“Aowl, don’t rush, first this way, then that way, and finally, we just wait and see the result.”

After hearing Jinya’s words, the furry crew showed eager expressions.

“Shall we go now?”

“Not yet, let’s eat first. It’s more fun when it’s dark.”

There just happened to be a rodent infestation outside the pasture, so the furry gang quickly filled up their bellies.

Jinya rarely ate rats; he mostly ate rabbits.

But rabbits were scarce in winter, and sotis he had to wait a long ti to catch enough rabbits to satisfy his hunger, so occasionally eating Mouse Bars wasn’t bad.

By 6 p.m., it was already getting dark.

The furry crew comnced their plan.

Soon, the rodents that were forcefully dragged out of their holes were dumped near an old house at the village entrance.

This seemingly deserted winter nest was where the deaf boy’s parents currently lived.

Dim light shone through the glass, with faint sounds of a woman’s curses.

She had been cursing all day; her stamina was impressive.

The rodents squeezed into the house through various worn crevices, not long after, a woman’s panicked screams could be heard.

One or two didn’t matter, but a group was truly terrifying.

The woman, hair disheveled and broom in hand, ran out, a large black rat still clinging to her coat.

It wasn’t a horror film, but it had the feel of one.

The next-door neighbor peeked out, heard sothing about rats, spat in disgust, and withdrew.

“What’s the commotion next door?”

“Sothing about rats. Humph, they think they’re so city-folk just because they work in the city. You should’ve seen their faces, pah.”

The man grumbled, calling his wife and kids to hurry to bed.

Though there wasn’t much work in the winterti, they still needed to feed the livestock twice a day. It was physically demanding work, and resting well was essential.

Jinya and a few Big Cats circled the old house, ensuring the rodents didn’t escape elsewhere.

Escape was not an option; they would be dealt with imdiately without discussion.

Once the commotion had risen enough, one Desert Cat called out twice, and shortly after, several mice rushed out of the doorway, darting into the dark wilderness.

With the rodents handled, they planned to retreat as well.

Before leaving, Jinya sneakily peered over for a last look, his mouth twitching into a broad smile.

“Aowl, that female Two-legged beast is crying, and her stuff is all chewed up.”

They couldn’t harm people, but damaging things should be fair ga.

Knowing Two-legged beasts hated large rats, Jinya had gathered his mates, specifically capturing many rats to toss inside.

Humph, let that teach you not to ss with Jinya’s Two-legged beasts!

Just as he returned to the center, he saw Er Niu squatting by the pens, a subadult antelope pinned under her paws.

“Where have you guys been running off to? I caught this with much effort; dragging it here nearly wore out.”

Er Niu relaxed her body and lay down on the dry hay next to her.

“Where’s that Yellow Fur Snow Leopard? How co it’s just you returning?”

“They want to go back and check their territory first, as it seems a wolf pack has gathered there. Right, ‘Two-legged beast’ said it won’t, so when are we going back?”

Jinya walked over, tore a couple of pieces of at to try, having eaten too much Mouse Bar earlier, she wasn’t hungry now.

“He probably won’t go back for the ti being.”

Jinya lay next to Er Niu, feeling that Er Niu’s fur was nearly soaked with sweat.

“You might as well roll around on this, otherwise once the wind blows, you’ll get spoiled.”

After Er Niu had rested, Jinya leaned on her and howled her retelling of their fuzzy gang’s “big events” of the day.

Er Niu was furious, such fun activities, and she wasn’t even called to join. Are they still friends or not?

Jinya nonchalantly licked her head.

“Ao, I’ll definitely call you next ti.”

The furry ones huddled together, hiding in the animal shed generously sleeping, while in the village surveillance room, three people sat together, watching the monitor, smoking, and slapping the table in laughter.

“These guys must be becoming cunning, huh? Even know how to send mice to ss up that couple. My God, that couple is so bad not even animals can stand them.”

“Sannan brother, should we …” he made a wiping gesture.

“No need, this isn’t sothing done by people. Can you control what those cats and dogs do? That couple would never think to check the village surveillance.”

“I think, perhaps we should make a backup and send it to the village police outpost, just in case soone gives them ideas.”

That old house not only housed that couple but also two selfie dia people.

However, those two lived on the second floor, and the mice didn’t go upstairs, probably didn’t ss with their stuff.

The calm of six in the morning was shattered by a scream.

Selfie dia person Little Gang saw his backpack bitten two large holes, almost burst into loud tears.

Not only his backpack but his clothes were ruined too, and his equipnt bag also bore a few mouse tooth marks.

The other selfie dia person, Old Zhang, also looked gloomy.

His pack wasn’t ruined but the bag with his nutritional supplents was bitten, scattering his daily needed nutritional powder all over the place, and his bag riddled with dust.

Lazy to pack away his laptop and tablet last night, now found the gaps filled with this powder too.

“These damn mice! How co there suddenly so many, we never spotted them before.”

The two grim-faced, ran downstairs, intending to confront the couple, just to see a pile of bitten-up clothes and linens.

Even though they were old stored items, the loss was significant.

The couple’s backpacks were also nibbled in several spots, not a single down jacket or leather coat escaped.

Old Zhang even noticed mouse droppings and urine on the clothes.

Could it be that mice were breeding a family in their house?

No normal person would assu it’s the work of animals, they could only accept their misfortune.

The two selfie dia people cursing their bad luck, argued with the couple for a while, ended up without paying for food and lodging, nor getting compensation, grumbling as they packed up and left.

The couple felt as though they had conflicts with their ancestral ho, more so thinking it was their unlucky son causing the trouble. After the child’s aunt and uncle ca over again to ask for the custody of the child, the couple conned the aunt out of ten thousand yuan and got the paperwork done.

“Seen people without decency, but never such absolute lack of sha. Can’t even raise their own son, the siblings helped you raise him and you still want to extort money, where’s the justice in that.”

Village elders pointed and comnted about the couple, who totally ignored it.

Saying they would never return to this godforsaken place, they didn’t even pack properly, sloppily locked up, shouldered their roughly stitched backpacks, and walked away without looking back.

Since their return, they had only visited the child on the first day, then fixated on extorting money.

Seems like the money was out of reach, so the couple didn’t even pretend, just left, not once ntioning their sick, injured son.

The village chief was furious but restrained his anger, watching coldly as the pair left.

“Alright, you’ve gained a son now, just live a good life.”

He paused, then whispered to the child’s aunt, “Dr. Chen and Director Yin secured a temporary job position for you, but it requires staying at the Protection Station, only coming back once a month. See who would be suitable for it.”

“Would this negatively impact Dr. Chen?”

“No worries, Dr. Chen told this position belongs to River Source Protection Station, it won’t affect others.”

“Then village chief, can we discuss it at ho and let you know?”

“Sure thing, the work won’t start until after the New Year. Take good care of the child first, then discuss it when everyone’s together.”

After discussing this, the village chief was about to drive out for patrol when so mbers of the Security Defense Team pulled him into the surveillance room.

After watching last night’s surveillance footage, the village chief was doubting life itself.

He pointed to the monitor showing a clear image of Jinya’s fuzzy little face, unable to stutter out a word.

“Village chief, how should we handle this?”

“What’s there to handle? Can you command a cat, or a mouse? This is just a matter of desert cats hunting mice, and the mice scattering into the pastoral hos.”

The village chief’s words settled the matter.

The village police outpost also gaped at this surveillance backup, and after deliberation, silently agreed to delete just that short clip showing Jinya’s face, leaving everything else untouched.

It was only two or three seconds of footage, hardly noticeable unless looked at carefully.

After leaving the outpost, the Cooperative Defense Captain and village chief patrolled together, silently driving a distance before stopping at the roadside, watching the animals running in the desert, and they both chuckled.

Their laughter grew louder until they were clutching their stomachs, barely able to stand straight.

“Truly a bunch of clever little devils!”
