"Perhaps it’s because my body has always possessed Demonic Qi that I’ve been unable to cultivate," Wong Qifu said, a hint of regret in her voice. "If my parents were still alive, perhaps they could have given an answer and let know where this power inside truly cos from."
Upon hearing this, Xu Ke thought to himself. I bet Mister Mu in Haojing would have the answer to that.
"How are you feeling now?" Xu Ke asked quickly.
The revelation that Wong Qifu might naturally possess Demonic Qi was far more shocking to him than her sudden display of combat power on par with an Innate Great Perfection. Demonic Qi was a mysterious and unpredictable force, full of unknown dangers. The discovery of so much of it inside Wong Qifu’s body terrified him.
What if sothing happens to her?
Seeing the concern that instantly clouded Xu Ke’s eyes, Wong Qifu smiled, touched his face, and said, "Don’t worry. For now, at least, I can feel that it isn’t harming ."
"But..." Xu Ke hesitated. He wanted to tell Wong Qifu to stop, to never use this power again.
But just then, Ye Yunfeng’s terrified voice cried out from nearby, "Why is your Demonic Qi so much more formidable than mine? Wong Qifu, what secrets has the Wang Family been hiding?"
Wong Qifu and Xu Ke had managed to chat for nearly a minute as if no one else were around, all thanks to Ye Yunfeng’s non-interference. He hadn’t stood by idly to let the young couple reunite; it was because the Demonic Qi emanating from Wong Qifu felt... nobler than his own!
That’s right. Nobler.
When Wong Qifu’s Demonic Qi entered his body, Ye Yunfeng felt his own Demonic Qi tremble like a common soldier before a general. It wasn’t the sa terror he felt facing Xu Ke’s golden True Qi, but rather a natural suppression that instantly weakened his combat strength considerably. If Wong Qifu weren’t a complete novice at wielding this power, with no idea how to use it properly, Ye Yunfeng would have been in mortal danger by now!
"If you want an answer, go ask my parents. They might be able to tell you," Wong Qifu said, her face an icy mask. The transformation made her beautiful eyes seem almost bewitching, and as her killing intent flared, a hint of cruelty surfaced—sothing the usually domineering Wong Qifu had never shown before.
"A joke! You think a little greenhorn like you, a girl who doesn’t even know what the Martial Path is, can send to my death? I’ll kill you and your husband first!" Ye Yunfeng roared, raising a palm as he charged forward again.
"Aunt Lin, take care of Xu Ke," Wong Qifu said, imdiately handing him over to Lin Qinghua. She then shot forward, her jade-like hand waving to unleash another whip of Demonic Qi.
Unfortunately, the mont it left her hand, it veered completely off course.
Ye Yunfeng sneered, "You think you can challenge with combat skills that poor? Are you dreaming?"
Wong Qifu’s expression changed instantly.
Supported by Lin Qinghua, Xu Ke wasn’t surprised by this display. "Qi Fu," he called out, "it’s your first ti trying to attack from a distance! It’s perfectly normal to miss." He was afraid that soone as proud as Wong Qifu would lose her composure in the face of failure, so he rushed to comfort her. "No one in this world can hit their target on their first remote attack. Don’t be discouraged."
But as soon as he finished speaking, despite the tense battle, Wang Wu, Lin Qinghua, Tang Yingchang, and the others all shot him a stifled look.
What the hell? What does he an, ’no one in this world’? Didn’t you just pull it off on your first try, you little punk? Are you bragging?
Wong Qifu, however, didn’t overthink it. Reassured by Xu Ke’s words, she composed herself and launched another whip of Demonic Qi.
"Useless!" Ye Yunfeng had already anticipated her, deftly dodging the projected path of her attack the mont she raised her hand. He then pounced, striking viciously toward Wong Qifu.
Any sane person knows not to use an ineffective move twice. Is she still trying it? Her combat sense is just awful! But then again, she’s never fought before, so this lack of experience is to be expected.
Seeing this, the hearts of the onlookers sank. Han Wang and Shi Hongda grew especially anxious.
Wong Qifu is completely unreliable! We thought her appearance, ard with Demonic Qi, would turn the tide... But it turns out she’s just a little girl with a sledgehamr who doesn’t even know how to swing it!
With that realization, they could only try desperately to break away from Ye Liang’s team. However, not only were they unable to escape any faster, but with the Yin-Yang Elders defeated, Chen Xiong was forced to fire off a few long-range attacks to support them, further slowing things down.
On the main battlefield, Wong Qifu saw Ye Yunfeng charging at her. She raised a palm to et his attack, then twisted her waist, swung her arm, and instinctively channeled Demonic Qi into her fist, punching toward him.
Seeing this, Ye Yunfeng sneered and dodged with ease. With her inexperience, she definitely won’t have a follow-up move to block my retreat.
"Grandpa Chen, stop him!" Wong Qifu suddenly yelled.
Ye Yunfeng’s expression changed dramatically. That old fox Chen Xiong must be about to ambush from behind! He instinctively dodged forward, assuming that Wong Qifu, new to combat, wouldn’t know the basic rule: never shout an ally’s na during a coordinated strike, as it alerts the target. So he took the bait...
But to his shock, after he dodged, he felt no rush of wind from behind. There was no one there. In the next mont, he saw out of the corner of his eye that Chen Xiong was still standing where he’d been providing support, not yet having charged over.
Ye Yunfeng’s heart dropped, and his eyes flew wide. I’ve been tricked!
In the next second, a sharp glint of cold light appeared before his eyes. Why is Wong Qifu just as shaless as Xu Ke?! So fond of using these dirty tricks?! he roared inwardly.
BANG!
A dagger, which Wong Qifu had produced from nowhere, plunged into Ye Yunfeng’s abdon. In that sa split second, she kicked the handle of the dagger with incredible precision, driving the blade deeper into his gut. Blood sprayed into the air...
A collective gasp went through the crowd as Ye Yunfeng was sent flying backward.
Just a mont ago, everyone had been disappointed in Wong Qifu. Now, they were overco with a mixture of shock and delight. No one had expected her to be so brutally effective.
Seeing this, Xu Ke grinned. "Qi Fu, when did you get so devious?!"
Wong Qifu had clearly made a series of mistakes on purpose, lulling Ye Yunfeng into thinking she was a clueless novice. In the end, it was Ye Yunfeng’s misjudgnt that had backfired on him.
She glanced at Xu Ke, then turned back to the fight. "I learned it from you," she said coolly.
Xu Ke was speechless.
"Mister Xu, the Young Miss began her martial arts and fitness training at fifteen," Lin Qinghua explained with a smile. "While she has no True Qi, she has twenty years of experience with combat techniques."
Ye Yunfeng had made one critical mistake. While Wong Qifu wasn’t a Martial Artist, couldn’t cultivate True Qi, and was unfamiliar with long-range attacks, she was by no ans lacking in combat experience. With Lin Qinghua and Mai Qing at her side, Wong Qifu had taken combat lessons nearly every week for years. It was all to give herself one more advantage to ensure her safety, no matter how small.
Hearing this, Xu Ke’s eyes widened. Holy crap! I’ve only been training for a little over a year, but she’s been at it for more than twenty? If we fought without True Qi, and she pulled that concealed dagger trick on ... wouldn’t she be able to beat to a pulp?
He suddenly shivered, a chill running down his spine. He rembered sothing Wong Qifu had once told him at the gym: if he’d had any improper thoughts about her back then, he would have been beaten to death. At the ti, Xu Ke had assud Wang Wu would be the one to do it.
Now, it seed Wong Qifu would have handled it herself...
