Jiang Yi was still in a daze. He stared at his own hand, dumbfounded, as he felt the burning pain in his palm finally dissipate.
Xu Ke just applied so dicine and perford a bit of acupuncture, and my hand is already back to normal?! What kind of dical skill is this... Didn't the Ye Family say the Wang Family's son-in-law was just a freeloader who had married into the family? I believed them at first, but now I'm starting to suspect the Ye Family just said that to tarnish Xu Ke's image... What kind of freeloader could be this capable?
Xu Ke ordered a glass of lemon water, sat down at the bar, and asked quietly, "When will he arrive?"
Jiang Yi thought for a mont. "I rember he should be here a little after nine."
"Good. Just stick to the plan later," Xu Ke nodded.
Jiang Yi hesitated, then looked at Xu Ke. "Are you going to give him poison, too?"
"Yes," Xu Ke confird.
Jiang Yi's eyes instantly lit up. He rembered that before they left, Xu Ke had brought along a bottle of the sa poison he'd just been forced to drink. The thought made Jiang Yi feel a strange sense of excitent.
If my boss drinks this stuff too, then I won't be alone anymore, will I?
He reflected on human nature. People aren't upset by scarcity, but by inequality.
If he were the only one being tornted by Xu Ke, Jiang Yi felt his situation would be utterly tragic. But now that his boss was about to be tornted alongside him, he wouldn't be so miserable after all.
Just then, a commotion erupted outside the door.
"He's here! President Yuk is here!"
The voices from the entrance were loud. Xu Ke hadn't noticed anything yet, but Jiang Yi's expression imdiately tightened. "My boss, Yuk Dalong, is here."
Xu Ke imdiately looked up, using the reflection on the bar top to observe the person walking through the entrance. It was a middle-aged man in a red polo shirt and gold-rimd glasses.
The next mont, President Yuk, who was surrounded by a crowd, suddenly glanced in Xu Ke's direction as if he'd discovered a new continent. A sly smile spread across his face as he started walking toward them.
Seeing this, Xu Ke raised an eyebrow. Why is Yuk Dalong coming straight for ?
When Jiang Yi saw Yuk Dalong approaching, he was petrified. He quickly turned his head and leaned close to Xu Ke. "Sh-should we move sowhere else?"
Jiang Yi was so scared he nearly wet himself. I never knew I was so important to Yuk Dalong that he could spot in a crowd at a single glance.
"It's too late to move now." Xu Ke pressed Jiang Yi's head down onto the bar with one hand and calmly sipped his lemon water. If they made any sudden moves, it would be even more likely to attract Yuk Dalong's attention.
Yuk Dalong finally reached the bar, stopping not far from Jiang Yi. Jiang Yi was so frightened his whole body went limp. Xu Ke's expression remained unchanged as he brought the glass of lemon water to his lips, cleverly obscuring his face.
Yuk Dalong definitely has an impression of both and Jiang Yi.
Yuk Dalong, however, was looking at a beautiful female bartender. A lecherous grin spread across his face. "Xiao Qi, have you given any more thought to my offer? About coming to work at my company?"
Xu Ke instantly understood. So, he was here for his prey.
The panic on Jiang Yi's face finally subsided. He had been scared witless.
Hearing this, the beautiful bartender flashed an intimate smile. "President Yuk, I'm doing just fine here. Why would I go to your company? Besides, I don't know how to do anything. I'd just be a nuisance."
Yuk Dalong chuckled. "Do I need you to know anything? As long as you're a good personal assistant and *take care of *, isn't that enough?"
"Well, I'll think about it so more then," the bartender giggled. "By the way, President Yuk, what can I get you to drink today?"
"The usual," Yuk Dalong said, then added playfully, "I'm eting with a few big bosses today. Interested in joining?"
"We'll see," Xiao Qi said, arching her brows in a flirtatious smile.
After that, Yuk Dalong turned and walked away. The entire ti, he hadn't given Xu Ke or Jiang Yi so much as a passing glance. Only after Yuk Dalong was a good distance away did Jiang Yi finally let out a sigh of relief, drenched in sweat. "Mister Xu... are we really going through with this?"
"Of course," Xu Ke nodded. "Since he's here to et so big bosses, we just need to lie low and wait."
With that, Xu Ke stood up, intending to follow Yuk Dalong upstairs. But just as he turned, his eyes widened, and he quickly spun back around and sat down again.
Seeing this, a stunned Jiang Yi asked, "Mister Xu, what's wrong?"
"Nothing." Xu Ke's face was a mask of disbelief. Why is she here at a ti like this?
Behind Xu Ke, a new commotion was brewing.
"Second Lady Wang is here?!"
"And soone from the Zhou Family!"
"The Zhao Family is here too!"
The crowd's excitent was instantly ignited.
At the entrance, a group of four or five dazzlingly beautiful won were walking into the bar. One of them bore so resemblance to Wong Qifu but carried herself with an innate air of arrogance. Her fair skin and exquisite figure were simply stunning.
They were whispering among themselves. Despite the din of the bar, Xu Ke was able to catch every word by focusing his hearing.
"Xiao Ya, you've only been here a few days and you're already leaving? Why not stay for another week?"
"I can't. My sister told Tianhai isn't safe right now and that I should go back ho and lie low. I had to sneak out just to co drinking with you all tonight... I didn't expect you'd choose Golden K, though. If it weren't such a hassle, I'd have left already."
Wang Qiya's voice was tinged with helplessness. Golden K is the Ye Family's territory. Coming here to spend money at a ti like this is no different from handing cash to the enemy.
"Sorry," Wang Qiya's friend apologized. "But what can I say? I was craving the cocktails here at Golden K. They make them just how I like."
That's right... the person Xu Ke had seen when he turned around was none other than Wang Qiya. If Xu Ke hadn't reacted so quickly, she would have recognized him on the spot.
Xu Ke's expression was grim. What I plan to do at the Golden K Bar is already risky and could be exposed. It might even make this whole place extrely dangerous. With Wang Qiya here, doesn't that make things even riskier?
Wang Qiya and her friends never noticed Xu Ke. They headed straight upstairs to a private room. The bar's booths were filled with a mix of people, and being prominent beauties in Tianhai, the won were bound to attract unwanted advances from n trying to hit on them. They clearly didn't want to be disturbed.
"Alright, let's go up," Xu Ke said, pulling the brim of his baseball cap down.
"Yes," Jiang Yi replied, keeping his head down.
He seed to have guessed what was going on. When I heard Second Lady Wang had arrived, I figured Xu Ke must be worried about the Wang Family discovering his plan...
Jiang Yi's heart skipped a beat. Or rather... could it be because the difference in status between him and Wong Qifu is so vast that he's afraid of being seen by a Wang Family mber in a bar? Is he scared of being accused of not being a faithful husband? After all, Wong Qifu is so domineering, and the Wang Family is so powerful. They would never allow her husband to be fooling around in a bar.
Jiang Yi shook his head, filled with sympathy for Xu Ke. This is just miserable. As expected, it's tough living under soone else's roof. He even has to worry about his sister-in-law catching him while he's here on the serious business of setting soone up...
