Chapter 34: The Power of Vajra

Ye Liuyun’s words made a great deal of sense. Even Yun Xiao, the Second Elder of the Yunxia Sect who oversaw the Alchemy Pavilion, was montarily stunned by her reasoning.

“Huh? This little girl’s words make sense. Why did I never think of this before?” Elder Yun Xiao muttered while stroking his chin. “Arena sparring forbids the use of external force to enhance one’s strength, but pills refined by an alchemist are the result of their own ability. Why should they not be allowed to use them?”

The other elders also fell into deep thought.

Borrowing external force to enhance combat ability was indeed forbidden in most competitions. However, the issue was that for cultivators who were not alchemists, taking pills counted as borrowing external force. But for cultivators who were themselves alchemists, it seed more like part of their own ability.

After all, alchemists devoted most of their energy to refining pills, which often resulted in weaker combat strength. Forbidding them from using pills did seem sowhat unreasonable.

However, in truth, Ye Liuyun’s words had led them into a subtle trap.

The difference between alchemists and other auxiliary professions lay in an important detail.

Artifact refiners could use artifacts they forged, but those artifacts still required their own spiritual power to support them. If their strength was insufficient, even the strongest artifact would be useless.

Formation masters, talisman masters, and other auxiliary professions also required power to sustain their abilities. Without sufficient strength, their techniques simply could not function.

Alchemists, however, were different.

A higher cultivation realm only made alchemy easier and increased the success rate. Cultivation realm itself was not a strict requirent for refining pills.

Nevertheless, overall, allowing alchemists to use pills in battle was logically consistent.

In the past, the rules had simply banned them outright. Even alchemists themselves had believed that forbidding pills was reasonable. Yet today, Ye Liuyun’s single sentence has exposed the flaw in that logic.

Chen Dong also felt sowhat speechless.

He had no idea what pill Ye Liuyun had taken, but since Yun Cheng had already said it was acceptable, he had no grounds to object.

The fight between the two continued.

Chen Dong made the first move.

This was the first ti the two of them were truly fighting. Chen Dong used the Yunxia Sect’s introductory technique, the Yunxia Sword Technique, and thrust his sword toward Ye Liuyun.

As soon as the Yunxia Sword Technique was unleashed, streams of radiant light flickered along the blade, dazzling Ye Liuyun’s eyes and making it difficult for her to see clearly.

This was the unique feature of the Yunxia Sword Technique. It used the radiance of rosy light to disrupt the enemy’s vision.

“What a perfect opportunity.”

Seeing Ye Liuyun montarily unable to open her eyes, Chen Dong imdiately thrust his sword toward her. If he struck her, the match would be his victory.

However, Chen Dong’s thinking was far too simple.

Just as everyone believed that Chen Dong’s sword would pierce Ye Liuyun, sothing completely unexpected happened.

Chen Dong’s sword struck Ye Liuyun’s body as if it had hit a steel plate. It was effortlessly blocked by her body.

“What? What is going on? It is so hard?” Chen Dong was stunned.

Originally, he had intended to injure Ye Liuyun slightly and then stop. Yet the mont his sword struck her body, it could not penetrate at all.

The disciples watching outside the arena were equally stunned.

Ye Liuyun had not even defended herself. So how could the sword fail to pierce her?

Lin Aoxue had been frightened earlier, thinking Chen Dong’s sword would stab straight through Ye Liuyun’s abdon.

“Huh? This must be the effect of the pill she took earlier. Could it be so kind of pill that enhances defense?” several sharp-eyed cultivators speculated.

Their guess was correct.

The pill Ye Liuyun had taken was the Vajra Pill she had developed herself.

After consuming it, the user’s physical body would temporarily increase in strength several tis over, reaching the hardness of steel.

“Senior Brother, you were careless,” Ye Liuyun said with a sly smile while looking at the sword pressed against her abdon.

She casually reached out and grabbed Chen Dong’s sword. With a sharp twist of her hand—

CRACK!

Chen Dong’s sword was snapped cleanly into two pieces.

“What—?” Chen Dong staggered back several steps, his face full of disbelief.

She had broken his sword with her bare hands and had even blocked his attack with her body.

Was this really soone at the Spirit Stream Realm?

“You… you…” Chen Dong looked at his broken sword, then at Ye Liuyun, unable to form words.

“Senior Brother, stop daydreaming. It is my turn now,” Ye Liuyun reminded him.

She stepped forward with heavy footsteps and threw a punch toward Chen Dong.

Chen Dong was still dazed. When he saw the punch coming, he instinctively raised his arms to block.

But the punch instantly shattered his spiritual defense and struck his body.

The force of the punch was incredibly heavy, like an iron fist.

Chen Dong could not resist it at all and was sent flying backward.

However, at the critical mont, Ye Liuyun withdrew most of her strength. The punch rely pushed him away rather than seriously injuring him.

The Vajra Pill also had its drawbacks.

After consuming it, one’s speed and agility were drastically reduced. The pill excelled in defense, but its offensive capability was limited.

“What a heavy punch… Is this really the effect of the pill she took earlier? What kind of pill can increase physical strength to this level?” Chen Dong began to question his understanding of reality.

After landing, he staggered backward more than ten steps before finally stabilizing himself.

Chen Dong was about to attack again when Yun Cheng suddenly stepped onto the arena.

“The match is over. Ye Liuyu is the winner,” Yun Cheng announced.

However, Chen Dong was not convinced.

“What? Deacon… I lost?” Chen Dong was stunned.

Many of the new disciples did not understand how Chen Dong had lost. Only so of the older disciples had seen the truth.

If Ye Liuyun had not withdrawn her strength from that punch earlier, Chen Dong’s bones might have been shattered.

“That is correct. You have already lost. Did you not notice that punch just now?” Yun Cheng reminded him.

After hearing Yun Cheng’s words, Chen Dong finally rembered.

That punch had clearly been extrely powerful. It had shattered his spiritual defense and knocked him back more than ten ters.

So why had he not been injured at all?

There could only be one explanation.

When her punch landed, it carried only pushing force and no destructive power.

In battles between cultivators, unless both sides were nearly equal in strength and experience, even the slightest mistake could determine victory or defeat.

Chen Dong was not a fool. Once he cald down and thought about it, he understood.

“Very well. Junior Sister Ye, thank you for showing rcy. I concede,” Chen Dong said after taking a deep breath.

Since Yun Cheng had already stepped in to announce the result, it ant that the punch had indeed been a deliberate act of restraint.

“You are too kind,” Ye Liuyun replied with a faint smile.

Then she began walking off the arena with heavy steps.

However, perhaps because her body had beco too heavy, when she stepped down from the stage, she accidentally crushed the edge of the stone step beneath her foot.

CRACK!

She lost her balance and began falling down the steps.

“Damn it… seriously?” Ye Liuyun cursed inwardly as she toppled forward.

Fortunately, Lin Aoxue reacted quickly.

She instantly rushed forward to catch Ye Liuyun.

However, she had underestimated Ye Liuyun’s current weight.

The mont she touched Ye Liuyun, it felt as if a massive tal statue was collapsing onto her.

“Damn! You are so heavy!” Lin Aoxue exclaid before she could even use her strength.

In the next mont, Ye Liuyun’s heavy body slamd directly on top of her.

The scene was extrely comical.

Both of them had fallen to the ground in front of everyone.

“Get up quickly! This is so embarrassing! You are crushing !” Lin Aoxue complained as she was pinned down beneath Ye Liuyun.

Everyone present stared in shock.

Two stunning beauties had just fallen to the ground in the middle of the arena.

“I cannot get up yet! The effect of the Vajra Pill has not worn off!” Ye Liuyun said awkwardly.

“Damn it! You are always refining such strange things. Get off !” Lin Aoxue took a deep breath and circulated her power, finally pushing Ye Liuyun off.

anwhile, Chen Dong paid no attention to anything else.

He only stared at the crushed stone step.

From that alone, he could tell just how terrifying Ye Liuyun’s current strength was.
