"It shouldn’t be."

The two said no more, Qiao Mo holding a glass of champagne, occasionally greeting others. After a while, she finally saw a figure arriving late.

The newcor was a man about thirty years old, handso and dashing, with an impressive presence.

A light coffee-colored suit, well-tailored, hair slicked with wax, overall striking, yet not Qiao Mo’s type.

She discreetly sized up the man for a while, feeling his gaze was too ostentatious.

Unlike Yan Jiu’s frivolity, his was more wanton.

Qiao Mo exchanged a glance with Lu Yiming, nodded, and after separating, she walked over to the man.

The man’s na was Jin Chengbin, a well-known young man in Jiang City.

He ca from a good family, his father was in business, his mother a political celebrity, so although not the foremost wealthy family in Jiang City, it was enough to attract many won.

And this man before her was the second purpose of her return this ti.

This man, joking and laughing among the won, was none other than Chenchen’s biological father.

...

More than three years ago, she was suddenly kidnapped.

Receiving Fu Nancheng’s ssage and hearing the news of his marriage to Qiao Yun had plunged her into utter despair once again.

After the kidnappers left, she calmly watched the tir, seconds ticking by.

Until less than three minutes remained, hurried footsteps broke the silence, Jing Hao arrived full of worry.

"Jing... Jing Hao, why are you here..."

"No ti, let’s defuse the bomb first." He knelt in front of her, head lowered, studying the bomb’s wiring.

But he wasn’t an expert in this field, plus the wiring was complex, after dozens of seconds, he still didn’t know which line to cut.

She rembers the sweat soaking their collars, both of them drenched in perspiration.

The stifling factory was eerily silent, yet the ticking ti was painfully audible.

Qiao Mo lowered her gaze, spoke softly to Jiang Jinghao in front of her: "Jing Hao... just go... hurry!"

He remained motionless, hands trembling as he held the pliers.

Tears slipped down the corner of her eyes, her heart wrenched tightly.

She’d already dragged him into enough turmoil in this lifeti, didn’t want him to die too.

"Jing Hao... I beg you, leave, please."

Jiang Jinghao still didn’t move: "There’s still ti, I won’t abandon you."

Qiao Mo lightly lowered her gaze, but could only watch as ti ran out.

Until only a dozen seconds remained, he still hadn’t managed to decide which line to cut. Fortunately, he couldn’t locate the detonating wire, but he’d pretty much analyzed the ones binding her.

After removing the bomb, he threw it away and quickly pulled her to escape the factory.

But, the bomb eventually went off.

At the last mont, he shielded her from behind, injuring his back.

Though she wasn’t hurt at the ti, she fainted from excessive blood loss on her arm, plus the impact from the explosion.

By the ti she regained consciousness, she was already abroad.

On the phone, Jing Hao told her he’d procured a corpse and faked her death at the scene. However, he also told her this deception would only temporarily fool Fu Nancheng, not indefinitely.

He hoped she would calm down and decide.

After all, staying in the country wouldn’t necessarily free her from Fu Nancheng’s entanglent completely.
