Qiao Mo didn’t withdraw her hand, just felt that her hand was warm and soft.
"My na is Qiao Mo."
The lady was dazed again: "Qiao Mo... Qiao Mo..."
Perhaps she rembered sothing, and her slightly relaxed expression turned pale again, with an unmistakable sadness in her eyes.
"Are you... okay?" Qiao Mo asked softly.
"Oh, I’m fine. I just rembered sothing." The lady forced a smile at her, but couldn’t hide her sorrow.
"How old are you this year?" The lady asked again, her voice gentle.
"Twenty-three... oh no, I’m still a bit unaccustod since it’s just past the new year. It should be twenty-four."
"Twenty-four... twenty-four..." The lady was lost in thought.
If she were still here, she would be twenty-four now.
Noticing that her complexion wasn’t good, Qiao Mo got up and poured her a glass of water.
After a brief chat, Qiao Mo found out that her last na was Xu, and her na was Xu Wan, the wife of the president of an international trading company.
As they chatted, Xu Wan beca more fond of Qiao Mo.
Not sure what she rembered, she spoke gently: "Xiao Mo, are your parents... well?"
ntioning her parents, Qiao Mo was silent for a mont: "My mother died when I was very young, and my father was wronged and convicted earlier, now serving a sentence in prison."
Xu Wan was montarily stunned, a hint of disappointnt flashed in her eyes.
But she still softly patted her arm: "Poor child, poor child..."
Qiao Mo chatted with her for a while, and they got along quite well.
Xu Wan was a very gentle lady, and her speech was appropriate, but her health didn’t seem very good.
"You said you’re also in design?" Xu Wan was a bit surprised, but also sowhat delighted.
"Mom, what are you doing here? I’ve been looking for you for a long ti."
A low voice interrupted their conversation, yet it felt sowhat familiar.
Qiao Mo was taken aback for a mont, then looked up: "Louis?"
"Qiao Mo?" Louis was also sowhat surprised, then a gleam of joy flashed in his eyes: "What are you doing here?"
Xu Wan was also a bit surprised: "You know each other?"
"Yes, Mom, this is the girl I ntioned to you last ti." Louis said, looking at Xu Wan.
Qiao Mo was a bit confused at this point. She hadn’t expected Xu Wan to be Louis’s mother.
After comforting Xu Wan, Qiao Mo was worried that Fu Nancheng might not find her and get anxious. So she intended to get up and leave.
Louis got up to see her off, and Qiao Mo didn’t refuse.
"I noticed Aunt Xu doesn’t seem to be very well."
"Yes, for the past decade or so my mom has been living abroad to recuperate. She only returned recently. Actually, her health was good initially, but she always had a worry."
"A worry?" Qiao Mo was puzzled.
Louis was silent for a mont, then spoke frankly: "I was supposed to have a sister, about your age. But sothing happened at the hospital back then, causing my mom to lose the child. Since then, she’s been ill, plagued by missing her daughter."
Qiao Mo was slightly surprised, seemingly not expecting such a reason.
"In the first few years, we kept searching dostically, but my mom’s health kept declining, and eventually she had to go abroad for treatnt. Every ti there was news back ho, she would fly back again. But after so many years, the result was always disappointnt after disappointnt."
Qiao Mo sighed deeply: "So this ti Aunt Xu also ca back because of this?"
"Partially, we heard that soone found a girl who might be my sister. But you know, the likelihood is slim; searching all these years has been like looking for a needle in a haystack."
