The dinner was nearing its end when Qiao Mo’s phone suddenly rang.

Seeing the na Fu Nancheng, she felt uneasy and looked at Feng Lan, saying, "Aunt Feng, I’m going to the restroom."

Qiao Mo got up and walked towards the restroom, taking the call in the corridor.

"Where are you?"

His voice was cold, almost devoid of emotion.

"Having dinner with a friend."

Qiao Mo was a bit nervous. It was Friday, and she was supposed to return to Nanshan Villa.

But she had to et Shen Ling, so she had sent a ssage to Fu Nancheng earlier, telling him she would return the next day. He hadn’t replied then, so she hadn’t expected him to call now.

A few seconds later, he pursed his thin lips: "Which friend?"

Qiao Mo felt a bit tense: "Just a classmate... you don’t know them."

Fu Nancheng let out a cold laugh: "You better not be lying to ."

"I..."

With a ’snap’ sound, the call was hung up.

Qiao Mo looked at her phone, feeling uneasy.

Did he already know about her having dinner with Jiang Jinghao?

But how could it be such a coincidence?

Even she hadn’t expected to run into Jiang Jinghao here, so how could he know so precisely about a re dinner...

Qiao Mo felt conflicted.

She didn’t want to lie to him.

However, knowing his temperant, she had to worry about what he might do to make things difficult for Jiang Jinghao if he found out?

Without reason, a wave of anxiety rose in Qiao Mo’s heart, yet she also felt she might just be overthinking it.

At the dining table, Mrs. Jiang looked at Jiang Jinghao and spoke gently: "Jinghao, have you not been good to Xiao Mo?"

"Mom, how could that be."

"I just feel like you two have been quarreling..."

Jiang Jinghao mustered a smile: "Mom, you’re overthinking it. It’s just that both Xiao Mo and I have been quite busy lately. The Qiao family has had a lot going on, and she’s nearing graduation, completely swamped. You know my situation as well."

Feng Lan nodded, seeming relieved: "As long as you haven’t quarreled, that’s good, that’s good..."

Jiang Jinghao said nothing more, forcing a smile at his mother in front of him.

After a few more minutes: "Jinghao, call Xiao Mo. It’s been so long, and she still hasn’t returned. Could she be lost?"

Jiang Jinghao picked up his phone, hesitating as he realized he no longer had her number...

Ever since they broke up, he hadn’t changed his number.

He was afraid that one day she wouldn’t be able to find him...

"Mom, I’ll go take a look." Jiang Jinghao stood up and walked directly in the direction Qiao Mo had left.

Qiao Mo had just co out of the restroom, feeling a bit dizzy. Supporting herself on the wall and not having taken a few steps, Jiang Jinghao hurriedly ca up: "Xiao Mo, are you feeling unwell?"

His gaze carried a hint of concern, and just as he was about to support her, Qiao Mo inadvertently avoided him.

The outstretched hand halted beside her, and a trace of bitterness filled Jiang Jinghao’s eyes. He withdrew his hand and asked gently, "Are you feeling unwell?"

"Just a little dizzy."

After a mont of silence, Qiao Mo couldn’t help but look at him and said, "Haven’t you told Aunt Feng about our breakup?"

"Well, her last disappearance was actually a kidnapping. She’s been unwell since returning, and she’s always liked you, so I didn’t want to worry her by telling her."

"Kidnapping?"

So Aunt Feng was really kidnapped, but who would want to kidnap such a gentle woman?

"Yes, it’s a long story. When my mother was young, she was also a lady from a prestigious family, but after misfortunes befell the family, she was the only one left, living as a ward in the Jiang family, which was a friend of my grandfather’s."
