"Aren’t you lucky to have such a loving sister-in-law? I’m sure that you two will get along so well," my mother exclaid joyfully.

"Let’s go with this one," Rosabella said decisively as she pointed to a beautiful vase.

"I agree. Raphael does have an eye for detail. I’m sure you two will be happy together after you get married," my mother said sincerely.

"Thank you so much. I’m sure that we’ll be happy together. I can’t wait to spend my life with Raphael and build a family of our own," Rosabella said wistfully.

"I’m sure you will," my mother quickly agreed.

Their exchange felt close to unbearable to . Their words hit like knives driving deep into my chest. Each word cut deep and made tears sting the back of my eyes. I knew that Rosbella was doing this intentionally to torture , and that I was falling for her trap. However, I couldn’t control the emotions that welled up inside of . I wanted to tell my mother that I should be the one that Raphael should be engaged to and not Rosabella.

Rosabell’s gaze flickered to before her lips curved into a smirk that was ant just for . It was a smile that said that everyone, including my mother, was looking forward to her wedding, and that she was the real thing and not .

I simply wanted to scream.

As we moved on to the next aisle of products on display, Rosabella positioned herself close to . We walked side-by-side with my mother in front of us.

"Raphael and I have been promised to each other for a very long ti. Finally, we are getting married. Our families have always believed that we are destined for each other. Don’t you agree, mother?" Rosabella said to before directing the question to my mother.

"Oh...of course," my mother replied with a warm smile.

"I hope you don’t mind calling you that. I know that Raphael and I aren’t married yet as of now, but we are engaged...and I truly hope that we will beco family. I want to respect you as my mother," Rosabella said as she took my mother’s hand into hers and gave it a squeeze.

"It is my honour. Please call mother, it makes feel like we are family. In fact, I believe that we are already family," my mother replied cheerfully.

"Yes, and Abigail is my dear sister. I promise to take care of her well," Rosabella said before beaming a smile my way.

I wanted to throw up. All I could do was remain silent as I watched this wretched scene unfolding in front of .

"Mother, I think I’m going to step out for a bit..." I said to excuse myself.

"Are you feeling sick again?" my mother asked with worry.

"No, it’s just...I’m feeling a little dizzy. We’ve been shopping for a while and the sll of the aroma therapy around here..." I replied quickly.

"Let her take a break. anwhile, we can go check out so decorations over there," Rosabella quickly suggested.

I narrowed my eyes at her as I wondered what she had planned. It was unlike her to let go so easily. Regardless, I quickly used this opportunity to make my escape.

...

Getting away even if it was for a bit, felt like a blessing to . I needed to get away from Rosabella and all the fake acting that whe was putting on. Just as always, my mother was optimistic and never suspected that anything was going on beneaht the smooth and peaceful surface of the water. I could’t bring myself to bla her, because I knew that hse was simply looking forward to Raphael’s wedding. It was supposed to be a big and happy event for Bennett and our family.

I let out a loud sigh before reaching up my hand to rub my forehead as a way to destress myself. It didn’t help much but it was definitely better than doing nothing. I wondered what Rosabella wanted, because I knew that fooling around with my moher and wasn’t her sole purpose.

"You should get back inside before your mother suspects that anything is up," a familiar voice spoke up from close behind .

"What do you really want from us?" I snapped as I turned around to face Rosabella.

She was grinning at with her arms folded over her chest. I hated the amused look that she had on her face and the way that she looked at as if I was her prey. To her, I was just soone who she could toy with as she pleased. She thought that she had the power to control and take advantage of as long as she could blackmail .

"You already know what I want. I’m just here to friendly remind you that your fate is in my hands. You better not ss around and do as you’re told," Rosabella said confidently.

"Keep my mother out of this, please..." I replied.

"That is up to what you choose," she replied with a calculating smile.

"I will tell my mother," I said as I tried to sound determined.

"You better. Also, please make sure that you control yourself better," Rosabella advised teasingly.

"What do you an by that?" I asked as I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Do you have any idea what you look like?" she asked.

"I don’t know what you’re getting at," I replied curtly.

"You look like a pathetic, sad, and jealous little girl. A girl that feels jealous because she can’t get what she really wants. You look just like one of the many other girls that Raphael has toyed with," Rosabella said before letting out a dismissive laugh.

"Stop," I warned her.

"That’s all you are to him, Abigail. Just another random girl that he will use and play with until he gets bored. Then, he will throw you away. You will fade away from our lives, as if you never existed in the very first place. Did you honestly think that you’re special? Did you think that he would choose you over ?" Rosabella asked as she closed the distance between us.
