Madrid’s trip to the Basque Country was less straightforward. Unlike the ruthless Blaugrana, Xabi Alonso’s n were sluggish early, and were punished for it as Real Sociedad got the opener in the 18th minute of the ga.
But Real Madrid’s quality shone through.
Kylian Mbappé equalized before half-ti, exploiting a Trent Alexander-Arnold overlap and smashing in a near-post finish.
The second half saw Madrid’s pressing improve, with Bellingham dictating the tempo. His diagonal ball to Vinícius set up the winner as the Brazilian’s quick feet beat his marker before cutting back for Federico Valverde to score.
