The Spanish sun had barely set on the Champions League’s opening week when La Liga demanded its next sacrifice.

Barcelona and Real Madrid, both unbeaten and unyielding, now faced their fourth dostic clashes of the season. The weight of perfection hung heavy over Spain; one stumble could tilt montum toward the other giant.

[Match: FC Barcelona vs Valencia]

[Venue: Spotify Camp Nou]

There were over 98,000 roaring fans at the Spotify Camp Nou on matchday.

Hansi Flick made only one change from the lineup that he used in Europe; Raphinha returned to the left wing for Marcus Rashford, while Gavi continued to anchor midfield over De Jong.

Barcelona started in their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, with Jose Garcia in goal, Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Alejandro Balde in defense, while Pedri and Gavi played in midfield.

Sam played higher up as the central attacking midfield, flanked on both sides by Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, while Robert Lewandowski led the line.

Valencia, resurgent under a new manager, arrived to prove they could bloody the champions’ nose. They lined up in a compact 4-4-2, waiting to counter.

FWEEE!

The ga started and right from kickoff, Barca found themselves trapped in a tactical vice orchestrated by the opposition team’s coach.

They literally faced a wall as Valencia dropped 10 n behind the ball.

Sam? He was sward every ti he touched the ball, the Valencia midfielders double man marking him always.

As for Valencia’s attack? They relied on their counterattacking strategy as long balls over the top tested Araujo and Cubarsi repeatedly.

The crowd grew restless as chances slipped away.

In the 18th minute, Raphinha’s curling strike grazed the post. In the 31st minute, Lewandowski ca close but his bullet header only forced a desperate save from the Valencia goalkeeper.

In the 42nd minute, Sam attempted a scissor volley that sailed re inches over the bar.

Halfti ca to an end with the score line 0-0.

In the tunnel, Sam turned to Hansi Flick. "They’re choking the middle. Let drift wide second half".

It was not a baseless suggestion. Hansi Flick also saw the ga, and understood the logic behind it. He nodded to Sam’s suggestion.

And then, the second half started.

This ti, the crowd at the Spotify Camp Nou took it up a notch, turning the stadium into a cauldron of noise in fervent support of their team.

The team? They responded in kind on the pitch.

Hansi Flick didn’t make the tactical switch at first. He kept his team’s shape, and just like that, FC Barcelona began causing more problems.

Due to being double man marked, Sam was repeatedly forced to drop back. Luckily for him, he was an elite midfielder great at distributing the ball. And by dropping back, pulling players with him, he opened space for his teammates.

Pedri took the most of the opportunity, drifting forward only to receive deadly passes from Sam, as he beca the makeshift central attacking midfielder fielding the attacking players on his left, right, and front.

In the 48th minute, Lewandowski’s shot only stung the bar. 3 minutes later, in the 51st minute, Lamine Yamal curled a shot just over the bar.

Pedri himself went at it in the 55th minute, unleashing a pile driver from range that only hit the top bar before bouncing off for a goal kick.

After that, Hansi Flick finally made the tactical switch. Sam shifted left, allowing Raphinha to move centrally. And instantly, Valencia’s rigid lines fractured.

It was a masterstroke from Hansi Flick as it didn’t take much longer before FC Barcelona finally broke the deadlock.

In the 62nd minute, Balde surged down the flank with the ball, combining with Sam to devastating effect, and Sam’s cutback eventually found Lewandowski who rifled it into the net with a lethal striker’s instinct.

It was a ruthless finish.

GOAL!

1-0 Barcelona.

Valencia tried to respond imdiately, pushing higher. That was a mistake. That decision beca their undoing.

In the 74th minute of the ga, Pedri intercepted a pass, and threaded Sam through on goal. Having followed him for over 70 minutes, his marker finally gave in to his exhaustion, and that little window of opportunity was all Sam needed.

Sam chased after the ball with blistering pace.

A defender lunged in desperately, but arriving first, Sam dinked the ball over both the defender and goalkeeper with nonchalant brilliance.

GOAL! 2-0 Barcelona.

BOOM!

The Spotify Camp Nou exploded.

Sam charged to the corner flag with a big smile on his face, as he crossed his hands over each other T’Challa style and did his now trademark Black Panther celebration to the roar of tens of thousands of Barca fans.

The ga was tougher than expected, but still, the fans roared his na.

"Sam!" "Sam!" "Sam!"

And that cracked Valencia’s spirit.

Their ga plan was centered around neutralizing Sam. And they failed to do it the mont he moved to left wing.

Coincidentally, this was the first ti in Sam’s career that he played at the left wing position. He truly was an endless bag of tricks.

As if that was not enough, in the 81st minute, Lamine Yamal added the nail to the coffin, dazzling two defenders with an audacious dribble before slipping in Lewandowski for his brace.

[FULL-TI: Barcelona 3-0 Valencia]

And once again, Sam won another man of the match award for a commanding, adaptive, and decisive display at the Spotify Camp Nou.

...

anwhile.

[Real Madrid vs Real Sociedad]

[Venue: Santiago Bernabeu]

Madrid’s Galacticos faced a stubborn opponent in Sociedad, but just like their archrivals, they found a way past them.

In the 25th minute, Mbappe outpaced two defenders, scoring a trademark near-post strike.

Vinicius added the 2nd in the 43rd minute, flexing his flair with a solo dribble past three n before slotting into the net.

Sociedad nicked a goal from a set piece, but Madrid’s firepower was too much. In the 78th minute, Jude Bellingham added his na to the score line, burying a thunderous shot from outside the box.

[FULL-TI: Real Madrid 3-1 Real Sociedad]

In another ga this season, Vinicius Junior won the man of the match award. He was electric and unstoppable down the wing.

Spanish sports pages ignited after the ga:

*Barcelona, Madrid Neck and Neck – Who Blinks First?

*Sam Moses: The Adaptive Genius Barca Needed.

*Vinicius and Mbappe Silence Critics – Madrid’s White Empire Marches On.

On social dia, Vinicius couldn’t resist as Madrid now topped FC Barcelona in the league table on goal difference.

"We’re top for a reason. Barca’s luck will run out sooner or later".

Sam responded with a calm post-match quote.

"Luck doesn’t score goals. We do".
