Shane spoke casually, without any hidden aning, and Evelyn, listening, felt slightly relieved.
To be honest, if Shane really had those kinds of thoughts, she would rather not have him express them.
When it cos to feelings, Evelyn always seems a bit inept at handling them.
Perhaps it’s because of Jas, or perhaps because she currently doesn’t have the energy, in any case, Evelyn prefers to play dumb.
"What if people laugh at you? Everyone else brings a date to the wedding, and you bring your sister." Evelyn laughed.
Shane curved his lips into a light smile, "It’s fine. They’re all good friends of mine, they shouldn’t laugh too much."
Evelyn smiled, "That’s good. Then I must thank you, brother, for taking to the wedding, so I can et more people."
Hearing Evelyn’s words, Shane couldn’t help but feel a bit downhearted.
He wasn’t foolish, he could sense that Evelyn seed to have perceived sothing.
Yet, Evelyn hadn’t burst this bubble and was still leaving so space between them.
But the emotions in Shane’s heart were overflowing to the point of being uncontainable.
Especially with what Pauline said today, making Shane feel increasingly that this couldn’t go on.
He didn’t want to spend his life by Evelyn’s side just as a brother.
If she found soone she loved in the end, and could be happy, it would be okay.
If not, then why couldn’t he be the one to get close to her and bring her happiness?
Shane tightened his grip on the chopsticks in his hand, lowered his eyes, and said, seemingly unintentionally, "As far as I know, there will be people that Jas knows at this wedding too. Jas is currently in Aethelburg, with apparently plans to stay and develop his career. Maybe then, soone might invite him."
Evelyn’s action of picking up food paused briefly, then she smiled lightly, "That’s good."
Such a simple reply, devoid of any deeper aning, left Shane a bit bewildered.
He glanced at Evelyn’s expression, fearing he might have been too abrupt and upset her.
Seeing Evelyn’s calm expression, Shane felt slightly relieved, "In case you run into him..."
"If I run into him, I’ll just say hello." For the first ti, Evelyn interrupted Shane’s words, slightly curling her lips, "Don’t worry, brother, I know my boundaries."
Another "brother".
Shane almost couldn’t continue eating his al.
He tried to maintain a calm façade as he put down his chopsticks, smiling, "That’s good. As long as you’re not uncomfortable, I just fear you might be upset seeing him."
"Actually, there’s nothing upsetting." Evelyn also finished her last bite and put down her chopsticks, "After all, he’s Sharon’s father, and now that he’s reappeared, he hasn’t done anything terrible, and I’ve already signed an agreent with him."
Evelyn had never ntioned this to her family, but today she thought it was a good opportunity.
Shane was taken aback, "What agreent?"
"I allow him to spend ti with Sharon, in the role of a father." Evelyn said it calmly, "And he has to agree to one condition from ."
This statent made Shane’s head buzz, "As, a father?"
Evelyn nodded, still calm, "Yes, that’s correct."
Shane’s pupils widened slightly, "Evelyn, are you thinking of getting back with Jas—"
Evelyn looked at him, and Shane couldn’t get the rest of his sentence out.
Those unperturbed eyes quietly watched Shane, giving him the illusion of not daring to et her gaze.
"I’ve never intended to reconcile with Jas, you can be assured of that."
