This ti, it was Shane Sinclair who couldn’t help but laugh.

"Mom specifically told , no matter what, I can’t let you get bullied." Shane smiled softly, "If she heard what you just said, she might think I’m bullying you."

Evelyn Clayton’s eyes curved with laughter.

There was a slight change in Shane’s gaze, he wanted to say sothing, but a naless impulse surged within him.

But soon, Shane suppressed that feeling.

He curled his lips into a smile, "Alright, get so sleep early."

Watching Evelyn walk away, Shane stood there lost in thought for a long ti.

He didn’t know what he was thinking about; he subconsciously raised his hand to touch his chest.

After a long ti, Shane dropped his hand in a daze.

However, all of this was seen clearly by Pauline Warren from the corner of the second-floor hallway.

There was a flicker of hesitation in her expression.

Pauline saw all of Shane’s reactions clearly.

Her son looked like he was moved.

Pauline knew Shane very well, and she had never seen Shane like this before.

Even during college, when Shane was in a relationship, he never showed such an expression toward any girl.

Pauline was incredulous.

Standing there for a long while, Pauline returned to her room with a mix of anxiety and unease.

Her husband, Silas Sinclair, was already asleep, but Pauline sat by the bed without moving for a long ti.

Before long, Silas woke up, sleepy-eyed, and saw his wife’s back. Seeing her unmoving, he beca much more alert.

"What’s wrong?" Silas sat up nervously, pulling his wife into his arms, "Did you have a nightmare again?"

Pauline had such tis before, where thoughts of their deceased daughter would keep her awake night after night, and even when she did sleep, she often woke up startled.

"No..." Pauline uneasily pulled away, turned on the bedside lamp, and looked at her husband seriously, "Can you guess what I just saw?"

Seeing Pauline’s clear state of mind, Silas breathed a sigh of relief and followed her words, "How would I know? What did you see?"

Pauline was anxious, "I saw Shane talking to Evelyn downstairs."

Silas was montarily stunned, then couldn’t help but laugh, "What’s so unusual about that? Do you think they’re up too late?"

As he spoke, Silas glanced at the clock by the bed and said to himself, "It is a bit late, but young people—"

"No! After Evelyn left, Shane watched her back for a long while, looking all lancholic, like..."

Pauline didn’t know how to put it and was speechless for a mont.

After listening, Silas imdiately understood.

He remained silent for a long ti before slowly saying, "Are you trying to say that you think Shane has a crush on Evelyn?"

Pauline was slightly taken aback, lowering her voice further with a sense of inexplicable guilt, "You think so too?! No, did you already think so? Why didn’t you tell sooner?"

"Don’t rush." Silas laughed helplessly, "I only vaguely suspected, I didn’t think about it deeply. If what you saw today wasn’t just in your imagination, then it should be... quite likely."

Pauline was imdiately unhappy upon hearing this.

"What do you an by ’in my imagination’? I saw it with my own eyes! Shane’s expression was so apprehensive; he must be moved!"

Silas held her hand, agreeing, "Alright, alright, I know."

Pauline rolled her eyes, "Don’t placate ! Get serious! What should we do about this?"
