Back then, Jas imprisoned her, then took it upon himself to find Charlotte Sterling, hoping to orchestrate a touching reunion between mother and daughter in front of him.

He wanted to use every emotional card he could play to make Evelyn Clayton compromise and obediently stay by his side.

But Jas never anticipated that Evelyn would rather hurt herself for freedom.

When Jas found out she was pregnant and that the child might not survive, his guilt peaked.

He blad it all on bringing Charlotte Sterling and forcing Evelyn, but he never considered that this was rely the trigger.

The real issue lay in his relationship with Evelyn.

"My beginnings with Jas were utterly disgraceful." Evelyn slowly cald down, her tone frighteningly calm, "No, you could say Jas and I never truly began."

At that ti, she was still Matthew Sullivan’s fiancée, yet maintained an improper relationship with Jas.

A wrong start, a wrong process, how could the outco be right?

But Jas’s stubbornness and inner fears made him unable to face reality, so he froze his mistakes on the night Evelyn fell down the stairs.

He believed that if Evelyn could forgive Jas that night, everything could return to the origin.

But that wasn’t the case.

Because the Evelyn of that night was already gone.

She died in fear and worry, died in the disrespect and misunderstanding of her loved one.

Before Evelyn fully awakened and escaped, she constantly feared returning to the cage.

The fear turned into a sharp blade, piercing her thoroughly.

Yara Reagan quickly understood Evelyn’s aning.

Murmuring, she spoke, like continuing Evelyn’s words or talking to herself, "You’re saying, Jas seed to be punishing Charlotte, but really punishing himself?"

Evelyn calmly nodded, "Exactly. But he’s Jas, the Grant family’s eldest—he’ll never recognize that point."

No, to be precise, even if Jas realized that, he would not face it.

This proves that Jas wouldn’t acknowledge where exactly his mistake lies.

Thinking this, Evelyn felt like laughing.

As if mocking Jas, and mocking herself.

"Seems my decision was correct." Evelyn’s eyes gradually cleared, "I can’t let him see Sharon anymore."

Jas, holding such thoughts, unaware of his mistake, naturally doesn’t know how to change.

He’s rely hiding his fangs, pretending to be gentle.

If he ever loses patience, the consequences then would be beyond what Evelyn could bear.

Yara looked at Evelyn worriedly, softly asking, "Evelyn, are you okay?"

"Very well." Evelyn’s voice was firm, "I just realized sothing. Even if Sharon hates in the future, I must do this."

Iris Lockwood surprisingly kept up with the conversation between Yara and Evelyn.

Swallowing, she softly asked, "Evelyn, you don’t plan to let Sharon recognize Jas as her father anymore?"

Evelyn was resolute.

"That’s right, no longer planning to. Even if Sharon gets upset, I won’t agree."

"She will have a bright and promising future, so even if there are small pains and setbacks along the way, it won’t matter."
