Evelyn Clayton was stunned.
"Why is he resigning?" Evelyn felt a bad premonition rising in her heart. "Did he resign on his own?"
The female voice on the other end apologized, "I’m sorry, ma’am, I’m just the admissions office secretary, and I’m not quite sure about this matter. However, the new principal will take office next Monday. If you have any questions, you can call back then."
Evelyn frowned and, after a mont’s thought, asked, "Is there any other leader at the school now? I’d like to schedule a eting."
"Ah, our director is here. Could you please state your na so I can arrange an appointnt for you?"
"Shannon Sinclair, Sharon’s mother."
There was nearly a minute of silence, and when the female voice reappeared, it was noticeably more cautious and enthusiastic.
"Are you Sharon’s mother? Hello, hello, our director said that if you’re coming over, she’s always available!"
Evelyn didn’t waste any ti with words. After thanking the girl who took the call, she hung up.
At that mont, Silas Sinclair and Pauline Warren were taking Sharon to the Sinclair Family’s ancestral hall to pay respects to their ancestors, leaving only Evelyn and the servants and gardener at ho.
Evelyn didn’t hesitate either, and imdiately headed out to Genesis Academy.
On the way, Evelyn felt a subtle weight in her heart.
She always felt sothing wasn’t quite right about this matter.
Genesis Academy was actually not far from the Sinclair old residence, and Evelyn arrived there quickly by car.
As soon as she entered the school gate, she saw the director of Genesis Academy hurriedly coming out of the admissions office.
The director was a woman over fifty, but tall and slim, well-maintained, and her true age was entirely undetectable.
Evelyn had t this director several tis during previous parent-teacher etings.
"Director, hello." Evelyn stepped forward to shake hands, "Sorry to disturb you."
The director was quite enthusiastic, "No disturbance at all. It’s class ti now, there’s nothing to disturb. Miss Sinclair, this way please."
The director led Evelyn into the admissions office’s room.
After they both sat down, Evelyn got straight to the point, "I heard that Principal Shaw has resigned from your school, and I want to know the reason. It wouldn’t be because of our Sharon, right?"
The director looked troubled, carefully considering her words, seeming unsure how to respond.
Evelyn understood upon seeing this.
Her voice lowered slightly, "Director, although our Sharon won’t continue studying here, we don’t bla the school entirely for this incident. I don’t understand why you decided to dismiss Principal Shaw?"
Evelyn naturally wasn’t concerned about Principal Shaw’s job performance; she wasn’t that free. But if word got out about this, it wouldn’t just be bad for the Sinclair family’s reputation, it wouldn’t be good for Sharon either.
Originally, the Sinclair family was already quite exposed to the public eye; if the public knew that a child from the Sinclair family withdrew from school, causing the principal and teachers to all be dismissed, public pressure would undoubtedly turn towards Sharon.
The director hesitated for a long ti before smiling apologetically, "Sharon’s mother, it’s like this, although we dismissed Principal Shaw partly due to his dereliction of duty, it’s not entirely because of Sharon. During his tenure, a student suffered such a serious injury, and if word got out, it would be a big blow to us at Genesis. So, we actually dismissed Principal Shaw to give an explanation to the other parents."
Evelyn listened, her eyes growing slightly cold.
To her ears, the director’s words were nothing but perfunctory excuses.
