The event has been canceled.
After hanging up the phone with the organizing committee, Evelyn Clayton laughed in disbelief.
This is really dramatic.
When the organizing committee called, they were so anxious it almost spilled over, continuously apologizing, then advising Evelyn to quickly find a way to leave Paris and saying that if it’s really not possible, they would figure out a way to send the participating designers away after the riots have subsided sowhat, allowing her to wait patiently.
Naturally, Evelyn didn’t quite trust the organizing committee.
Now the organizing committee could barely protect themselves, so how could they settle arrangents for the hundreds of designers who ca to compete?
Remaining calm in the face of danger, Evelyn watched the parade outside the window for a while longer.
Soon, within less than an hour, there were more and more people on the street, showing no signs of decreasing.
Evelyn noticed quite a few people holding firearms, her expression turned slightly stern, no longer curious to look around, and cautiously closed the window.
Before long, Pauline Warren’s call ca through.
"Evelyn, how are you doing over there?" Pauline was very anxious, "I just saw the news—"
"It’s fine, don’t worry!" Evelyn quickly walked to the bathroom, to avoid Pauline hearing the gunfire from the street, "I’m safe at the hotel!"
Hearing this, Pauline beca even more nervous, "Has it really beco chaotic? I heard your competition got canceled! How about I have Shane fly over on a private jet to pick you up? Can you still go out over there—hey, no, don’t go out, wait for Shane to co!"
Before Evelyn could say anything, Pauline had already made the arrangents on her own.
Evelyn quickly told her, "Mom, really, don’t worry! I can figure a way out myself, the organizing committee will also arrange for soone to send us off."
At this mont, everyone in Paris was in danger, and having Shane co was a risk she didn’t want to take further.
"No Evelyn, don’t be stubborn!" Pauline’s tone was uncharacteristically firm for the first ti, "Stay put in the hotel, by tomorrow at the latest, I’ll definitely have Shane co with people to get you, do you hear ?"
This ti, before Evelyn could refuse, Pauline had hung up the call.
Soon, Shane Sinclair’s call ca through.
He was much steadier, but his tone was also very serious, and after asking for the exact address of Evelyn’s hotel, he only said to wait for him and then hung up.
Evelyn had no choice but to calm down and wait.
Continual noises were heard from the street below, truly frightening sounds that inevitably made Evelyn feel anxious.
Until the afternoon, only then did the street quiet down a little.
Evelyn dared to open the window to look outside.
The street was a ss, with garbage everywhere, as well as damaged public facilities, and sporadically, there were still a few protestors wandering about, most of them holding firearms.
Evelyn gently closed the window and called the hotel service to inquire about the situation.
The hotel staff advised her not to go out casually and to let them know if she needed anything.
Thinking it over, Evelyn asked the service staff to send up so instant food and bottled water.
In the current situation, all she could do was protect herself and not worry her family.
However, until nightfall, Evelyn hadn’t received anything from the hotel service staff.
Evelyn felt sothing was wrong. Her mood grew increasingly heavy.
Could it be that the hotel also...
Her eyes narrowed a bit, feeling restless; after a long while, she mustered her determination, changed clothes, and got ready to go out.
There were only two suites on this floor. Evelyn wasn’t sure if the other one was occupied, so she took the elevator downstairs, only to find the hotel lobby empty, even the front desk was deserted.
Evelyn was slightly taken aback.
She walked to the front desk to investigate, but as soon as she got close, she saw several ard individuals rushing in through the hotel entrance.
