Evelyn Clayton’s words were naturally a test.
After she finished speaking, she calmly stared at Jas Grant, her probing gaze flickered with subtlety.
Evelyn was very curious.
If Jas knew that she was truly carrying a child, what would his reaction be?
Would he beco even more excessive, imprisoning her?
Upon hearing Evelyn’s words, Jas’s heart skipped a beat.
A child...
If there really was a child between them, perhaps many things could silently resolve themselves.
Jas suppressed the hope in his eyes, raised his hand, and gently caressed Evelyn’s brows and eyes with his fingertips.
His voice was low, almost a whisper, "Why would you have such a dream?"
"How would I know," Evelyn scoffed lightly, her expression devoid of any joy or sorrow, indifferent as if void of emotions, "Are you scared? If I were pregnant."
"Why would I be scared?" Jas almost responded without thinking, "I couldn’t ask for more."
The light-hearted words slowly sank Evelyn’s heart into an abyss.
She pressed her lips together and remained silent.
However, it seed as if Jas had co to so realization, his expression turning serene and broad, "What you said last night, I agree to it."
Evelyn was montarily startled before realizing what Jas ant.
"From now on, I will give you a certain degree of freedom, and I will arrange for you to et with Yara Reagan." Jas spoke with an unfamiliar gentleness compared to before, "I won’t monitor what you talk about, but—Evelyn, consider staying with . Once I’m done with the matters at hand, we’ll get married."
This notification, rather than a discussion, instantly magnified the fear in Evelyn’s heart, almost to a devouring extent.
Marriage...
"My surna is Clayton." Evelyn looked at Jas, forcing herself to calm down, "Harrison Grant would never agree to you marrying . During those two months when you were searching for , haven’t you figured things out?"
Evelyn believed that Jas had long known what she was doing, but in recent days, apart from today, they mostly had confrontations and never talked about it.
Yet in such circumstances, Jas could still say such things.
If it weren’t for Jas’s calm and steady deanor, Evelyn would almost think Jas was crazy.
Jas gazed at Evelyn for a long ti, eventually pulling her into his arms.
"I know. It’s precisely because I know that I want to marry you."
"Marry , and I will handle everything properly, sparing you any more suffering and pain. You only need to be Mrs. Grant, standing by my side."
Almost like a proposal, yet it left Evelyn chilled to the core.
Her pursuit had never been to beco soone’s wife or to be a devoted partner.
Even if she hadn’t decided to seek revenge for her father and find the real culprit who led to her father’s death, she never wanted to be the woman behind soone.
That was absurd.
But Evelyn didn’t want to provoke Jas anymore right now.
So she suppressed her discomfort, her long lashes fluttering slightly downwards, and softly said, "Let think about this matter carefully."
Jas’s eyes flickered with a hint of gratified joy.
Since Evelyn did not outright reject him, everything could be negotiated.
If Evelyn were willing to stay obediently by his side, he could let go of past grudges and offer her everything good before him.
"Do you want to sleep a bit longer?" Jas kissed Evelyn’s forehead, his tone indulgent and pampering, "If you don’t want to sleep, then get up. Today, I’m having a doctor co to give you a full physical examination."
