Owen Sherman wasn’t so sure about Jas Grant’s claim that he wouldn’t provoke Evelyn Clayton.

In fact, the person Evelyn Clayton resisted was Jas Grant.

Though Owen Sherman had only been around for a day, he could already see clearly.

But it was clearly not his place to say such things.

Owen Sherman left without saying anything further.

Jas Grant stood at the bedroom door for quite a while before gathering the courage to knock.

Inside, it was still silent, no movent whatsoever.

Jas Grant pressed his lips together tightly and, after a mont, gently turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.

The windows in the room were all wide open, and the winter wind blew in from outside, gently swaying the light blue curtains; Jas Grant stood in the doorway, his gaze complexly fixed on Evelyn Clayton, who sat wrapped in a blanket motionless on the sofa.

She seed to have been petrified into a statue, even her breathing was barely audible.

Jas Grant took a deep breath and walked slowly up to her.

Evelyn Clayton’s eyes were open, lacking any light; she quietly gazed out the window, lost in thought.

Jas Grant crouched down to et her gaze.

After a long ti, Evelyn Clayton finally showed a slight reaction, lowering her gaze to et his eyes.

"Why are you ignoring ?"

Jas Grant spoke his first sowhat gentle words since their reunion.

He stared at Evelyn Clayton as if he wanted to etch her image into his heart, "You’re blaming , aren’t you? Blaming for keeping you here."

Evelyn Clayton’s lips moved, a weariness and fatigue slowly rising on her face.

She closed her eyes and said hoarsely, "I’m not blaming you, I’m blaming myself."

Jas Grant’s Adam’s apple bobbed, his throat filled with sour pain and itchiness, "Why say that?"

"It’s my own lack of clarity, my own poor judgnt of others." Evelyn Clayton turned her head away in annoyance, "Jas Grant, don’t worry, I won’t think about running away, no need to have so many people watching every day, seeing people annoys ."

An indescribable feeling surged in Jas Grant’s heart.

Like pain, yet like unease, ultimately turning into an unspeakable panic sinking in his heart, sinking slowly and deeply.

For the first ti in his life, he felt like crying.

At this mont, Jas Grant realized clearly that he had made a mistake.

But he also knew he could never turn back again.

"You want fewer people around, okay." Jas Grant muttered to himself, "Who do you want to stay, you tell , and I’ll send everyone else away."

Evelyn Clayton opened her eyes and glanced at Jas Grant quietly.

Jas Grant thought she wouldn’t answer him anymore and was about to get up to leave when he suddenly heard Evelyn Clayton’s voice—

"Let that Aunt Liu stay."

Jas Grant didn’t turn back, he simply responded softly, "Alright."

He paused his steps, only slowly speaking after a long ti: "The Sinclair family has contacted you. I’ll have soone bring you a phone later, so you can return a call to the Sinclair family."

Then, Jas Grant’s voice deepened slightly, "You know what to say."

Evelyn Clayton didn’t respond, nor did Jas Grant insist, turning to leave.

Only after hearing the sound of the door closing did Evelyn Clayton finally snap out of her numbness.

She turned her gaze to the closed door, her expression unfathomable.

It seed that the conversation with Owen Sherman yesterday was sowhat effective.

Jas Grant had already been moved.

Next is finding a way to contact the outside world...

Evelyn Clayton collected her thoughts and continued to look out at the still sowhat clear sky, her eyes calm and unperturbed.
