This night, Evelyn Clayton could hardly close her eyes.

Even though Jas Grant left after she said, "I only love myself," Evelyn Clayton still found it difficult to close her eyes and get a peaceful sleep.

It was not until sunrise the next day that she managed to get a shallow sleep, dragging her exhausted body onto the bed.

Until she was awakened by the maid.

"Miss Clayton, the doctor is here to examine you."

Evelyn Clayton instantly woke up.

She sat up, looking at the maid with full alertness, "What doctor? Where is the doctor from?"

The maid was obviously startled by her reaction and timidly said, "It’s just, the household doctor..."

After saying this, the maid quickly reassured her, "Just to give you a simple physical examination, check your blood sugar and blood pressure or sothing."

Evelyn Clayton’s hand suddenly tightened, she said in a deep voice, "I won’t, let him leave."

The maid’s expression changed slightly, looking sowhat startled, "Miss Clayton, but sir ordered this—"

"I said go out!" Evelyn Clayton’s voice suddenly rose, with slightly red eyes, "I don’t want to see him, can you understand?"

Watching the maid flee quickly in fright, Evelyn Clayton’s heart pounded fiercely.

She didn’t want it to be like this either...

But the matter of the child must, must not be discovered by Jas Grant.

Jas Grant called the doctor today, did he discover sothing yesterday?

Thinking about how she vomited uncontrollably in the bathroom yesterday, Evelyn Clayton slightly closed her eyes, trembling as she exhaled.

Just at that mont, a knock ca from the door.

"Miss Clayton." A gentle male voice sounded outside the door, "My surna is Sherman, Owen Sherman, I’m Director Grant’s private doctor. I an no harm, just want to do a routine physical examination for you, may I co in?"

The man’s tone and attitude were so good that Evelyn Clayton couldn’t say anything harsher.

She wished she were truly mad right now.

With trembling eyelids closed, Evelyn Clayton replied out of context, "Where’s Jas Grant?"

There was silence for a few seconds outside, only to hear Owen Sherman say again, "Director Grant is still at the company, do you need to help contact him back?"

"No need." Evelyn Clayton’s nails unconsciously dug into her skin, tension and anxiety had enveloped her for the past few days.

After a while, Evelyn Clayton slowly said, "Co on in."

Not long after, with a click, the door was opened by soone, and a tall and slender man walked in.

The man had a delicate face, silver-rimd glasses perched on his rather handso nose bridge, appearing cultured and refined, truly living up to his na.

After Owen Sherman ca in, he didn’t rush forward but stood at the door, subtly observing Evelyn Clayton.

Evelyn Clayton could sense that Owen Sherman was assessing her condition.

Just now, that emotional outburst, falling into other people’s eyes, might really make them think she had so ntal issues.

Evelyn Clayton raised her eyebrows slightly, staring directly at Owen Sherman.

Owen Sherman felt a bit emotional upon seeing Evelyn Clayton.

Previously, he had always heard about soone like this beside his boss, and now, finally seeing this renowned person in such a situation, it felt truly intriguing.

Moreover, it’s no wonder his boss would do sothing so crazy as to lock soone up...

Evelyn Clayton at this mont had cold, emotionless eyes, her slightly pale face bearing no flaw, curled up at the head of the bed like a delicate, fragile porcelain doll.

"What kind of examination do you want to do? Blood draw?" Evelyn Clayton’s nail lightly scratched the tender flesh of her palm, "What exactly does Jas Grant intend to do?"
