Yara Reagan slowly disentangled herself from Franklin Ford’s embrace.
She didn’t look back, nor did she speak, just quietly walked away.
It was hard for her to promise Franklin anything at this mont.
Evelyn Clayton had an accident, and Violet Ford’s attitude left Yara feeling indescribable disgust, but this wasn’t the ti to argue about right or wrong.
Yara arrived at Evelyn Clayton’s place.
Since the incident two months ago, the house had been managed by Yara.
She sat on the sofa for a while and received a call from Iris Lockwood.
"Speak." Yara leaned back on the sofa and closed her eyes deeply.
Iris Lockwood urgently said at the other end, "Has Evelyn been found? Why wasn’t I inford?"
"Informing you, can you co back now?" Yara’s voice carried fatigue, "Besides, it’s already too late."
"What do you an too late?" Iris was anxious and angry, "Can’t you just say everything at once? And besides, why can’t I rush back? I’ve already booked a ticket!"
Yara didn’t turn on the lights, imrsing herself in darkness.
She didn’t object, just asked, "How soon can you get here?"
"Tomorrow morning! I’ll go straight to Evelyn’s house!" Iris said, then added, "Is Evelyn by your side? Is she okay? Can I talk to her—"
Before Iris could finish, Yara hung up the phone.
She sat on the sofa all night.
She couldn’t even rember when she fell asleep.
She opened her eyes again because she heard the sound of a key turning in the door.
Before she could fully wake up, she heard hurried footsteps and Iris’s anxious voice, "Where’s Evelyn?"
Yara’s vision gradually focused.
Iris was already in front of her, and after seeing Yara’s complexion, Iris’s expression turned from eagerness to shock.
"Why do you look so terrible?" Iris said in disbelief, leaning closer to feel Yara’s forehead.
The next second, Iris exclaid, "You have a fever!"
Only then did Yara belatedly feel dizzy, she opened her mouth to say sothing, but her throat felt as if it was filled with countless blades, dry and painfully raw, as though it might split open.
With no other choice, Iris got up to pour Yara so water and then went to find a thermoter to take her temperature.
Watching as Yara finished drinking the entire glass of water, Iris frowned and said in a low voice, "What exactly is going on? Why are you here alone, where’s Evelyn?"
Half a month ago, Iris had personally taken Nadia Archer to a major director’s film audition in another city, and after passing, they had directly started the script reading session.
They had already started filming, and if it weren’t for hearing about Evelyn’s return, Iris wouldn’t have rushed back.
Yara exhaled, placing the thermoter under her arm, her gaze slightly dazed, "Evelyn was taken by Jas Grant."
"What?" Iris could hardly believe her ears, "What are you saying? Have you lost your mind with the fever?"
"It’s true." Yara’s voice was weak, "It just happened yesterday. Evelyn and I went to find Gene Young, but that bastard Jas Grant tricked us."
Iris’s face turned pale, "Then now, where has Jas Grant taken her?"
"I don’t know." Yara laughed at herself, "You can’t fight the powerful with just an arm. I used to think Jas Grant was just a bit weak, but didn’t see he’s actually a wolf."
"Have Violet and the others been inford?" Iris’s first reaction was to panic and feel helpless, "In today’s society, is there no one who can handle Jas Grant?"
