While thinking, the car stopped near an old residential building.

"We’re here." Violet Ford glanced outside, "Do you want us to go in with you?"

Evelyn Clayton thought for a mont, "Yara will co with . Violet, if you have sothing to do, you can go ahead. You don’t need to wait for us."

Violet was montarily taken aback, then said, "No worries, I’ll wait for you. Call when you’re coming out, and I’ll co pick you up."

Evelyn nodded and got out of the car with Yara Reagan.

"Did Violet seem a bit upset just now?" Yara asked softly as she entered the building with Evelyn Clayton.

Evelyn pressed her lips together and said, "So things are better known by fewer people. Furthermore, there are so things between and Gene that I won’t tell her completely, but I won’t conceal everything from her either."

Yara nodded, "As long as you know what you’re doing. During the two months you were missing, Violet was quite attentive to the company. She often ca to oversee things, and when there was a conflict between Gene Young and Jas Grant, she stepped in to handle it too."

Upon hearing this, Evelyn paused slightly, suddenly recalling the evaluation Violet had made about Yara before.

Her heart sank slightly, and she lowered her voice, "When you spent ti with her recently, did you notice anything odd about her?"

Yara was montarily bewildered, "Anything odd...? No, why?"

"It’s nothing." Evelyn smiled reassuringly, "Just asking casually. After all, we and Violet and Franklin Ford are only in a cooperative relationship."

The two didn’t dwell on the matter any longer and headed towards the building Gene had ntioned.

Upon reaching the entrance of the unit building and seeing no one around, Evelyn simply called Gene Young.

Soon, the call was answered.

Gene’s voice sounded a bit muffled, "Miss Clayton."

"Officer Young, could you co down to let us in? The unit building door is locked," Evelyn said politely.

There was a brief silence on the other end before Gene’s voice, now even hoarser, said, "Press the 501 buzzer, and I’ll unlock the door for you."

Evelyn responded and hung up the phone, going to press the buzzer.

The intercom of the smart lock beeped, and the unit building door opened.

Just as Evelyn opened the door and stepped one foot inside, she was suddenly overco by an indescribable feeling.

"What’s wrong?" Yara asked in puzzlent when Evelyn stopped, "Are you feeling unwell?"

"It’s nothing..."

Evelyn frowned slightly.

Why did she constantly feel like sothing was about to happen?

The old residential complex lacked an elevator, and the smart lock on the unit building door seed like a last-ditch effort to cover up the decrepit and decaying interior.

The two won ascended the stairs, floor by floor, and the closer they got to the fifth floor, the stronger Evelyn felt an inexplicable sense of dread.

The indescribable perception of danger made her spine inexplicably tingle with cold.

But on the way there, Violet’s bodyguard car had followed them, ensuring no one would tail them. This neighborhood was so small and quiet that, if not for Gene providing the address, it would be difficult for anyone to know of this place’s existence.

Was she overthinking...?

Evelyn forced down her unease and, together with Yara, reached the fifth floor.

Arriving at the door of 501, they saw that the main door was ajar. Evelyn exchanged a puzzled glance with Yara.

A mont later, Evelyn frowned and gently knocked on the door.

From inside ca Gene Young’s low voice, "Please co in."

Evelyn pushed the door open and entered, with Yara following closely behind.

However, in the next mont, both were stunned in place.
