"Since you’ve already defined , I might as well be a bit colder."
Evelyn Clayton flashed a smile that was hard to decipher, brought up a video on her phone, and showed it to Soren Foster.
Soren’s expression froze for a mont, his eyes instinctively drawn to the phone screen.
The video Evelyn showed him was of her last eting in the conference room with Julia Lawrence.
Although Julia’s expression was unclear in the video, her slightly stooped fra appeared so frail, and the intermittent sobs in the audio were all too clear.
"...I thought he ca to save ."
As soon as this resentful and painful sentence ca out, Soren’s expression changed imdiately.
His eyes flickered as he finally pulled his gaze back, looking obscurely at Evelyn Clayton.
"You really are..." Soren’s lips trembled slightly, "You kill with words."
Evelyn remained expressionless, "I haven’t done anything to you yet. I just hope you can tell what you know about , so that Julia Lawrence didn’t die in vain."
Soren held her gaze for a long ti before finally looking away.
After a while, Soren spoke with difficulty, "What do you want to know?"
Evelyn’s spirits lifted slightly.
She leaned in a bit, staring at Soren, "The person backing Sumr Monroe, what sort of person are they really?"
Upon hearing this, Soren remained silent for a long ti. His expression towards Evelyn changed repeatedly before settling into an indescribable mocking look.
He stared directly at Evelyn, "Do you think too highly of ?"
Evelyn’s face cooled slightly, "You don’t know this?"
"Should I know?" Soren retorted, his mockery gradually turning into self-mockery, "Sumr didn’t even consider her lover; she just used as a pawn."
"Do you think she’d tell sothing so important?"
After eting Soren’s gaze for a long ti, Evelyn suddenly laughed.
She raised an eyebrow sarcastically, "Soren, you’re still not being honest with ."
Soren pursed his lips and said nothing, a flash of defensiveness clearly visible in his eyes.
"Never mind." Evelyn stood up, looking down at him with a hint of condescension, "Talking this much today is enough. I’ll give you so more ti. Once you’ve thought it over, I hope you’ll contact on your own."
Grabbing her phone and purse, Evelyn left directly.
Watching Evelyn’s departing back, the gloom in Soren’s eyes deepened a bit.
On the drive back, Evelyn received a ssage from Violet Ford.
She glanced at it and then pressed the accelerator a little harder.
She returned ho at full speed and saw Franklin Ford’s car in the community.
She approached the car and knocked on the window.
Soon, Violet and Franklin got out of the car.
After eting up, the three of them walked to Evelyn’s house together.
"Lars Alden is currently held in a high-security prison in Y Province. Franklin and I pulled a lot of strings to get you a visiting permit."
As soon as she entered, Violet handed over a docunt she had to Evelyn.
The exhaustion on her face was evident, and even Franklin, standing beside her, showed a hint of fatigue in his eyes.
"Thank you for your hard work." Evelyn took the docunt and softly said, "I went to see Lily Warren today, Lars Alden’s wife."
Violet’s spirits lifted slightly, and she quickly asked, "How did it go? Did she tell you any useful information?"
